This International Women’s Day, we step beyond the symbolic celebration and acknowledgement of women.
With three moving, thought-provoking short movies, we explore how migrant women are authors of their own narrative, shaping how migration, identity, and belonging are understood in society. Through the panel discussion that follows, we highlight the lived experiences, creativity, and visibility of migrant women in the Netherlands and beyond.
You'll gain insights into the stories behind the screen and engage with the women whose perspectives challenge dominant narratives.
🌟'It is a Fight' from Farouk Ebaiss and Micha Adarian -
A raw and inspiring documentary short - this film captures the journey of a "chosen name" and a "chosen life".
🌟'My Maysoon' from Batoul Karbijha - a moving story about Batoul's quest to finding her sister who disappeared on the Mediterranean sea.
🌟'In Your Eyes' from Sandra Alloush - a movie exploring themes of identity, migration, asylum and racism and examines the complexities of the migrant and refugee experience.
