Accomplished Teaching National Board Certification
Thanks for your interest in National Board Certification. Vermont-NEA is the Candidate Support Provider for National Board Certification. Although this is a voluntary certification, it is a natural continuum of our profession. Accomplished professional teachers, as evidenced by National Board Certification, is a growing voice of our profession.

NBPTS has a website for board certified teachers and those wishing to become board certified.

Vermont National Board Certification 2018-2019 Cohorts:

Middlebury/Rutland Area
Blue Mountain
Caledonia Central
St. Albans
North Country

The cohort classes will include:

3 credits option through Southern New Hampshire University or Castleton University (6-credit option for folks wanting to complete the entire process in one year.)
Scholarships through Vermont-NEA for Candidate Fees (Vermont-NEA Members Only)
Monthly classes, beginning in October.
Full-Day "Home Stretch" writing days at Vermont-NEA supported by NBCTs
Cohorts led by National Board Certified Vermont Teachers

The cost for the class (with credit) will be $1850 and $1400 for noncredit.

Candidates should register with National Board and pay the $75 registration fee before the first class. (Many schools will reimburse candidates for the registration fee.)

More cohorts may be organized if there are folks interested.

Professional license renewal certificates for 45 hours will be given to all candidates. Most candidates will take two or three years to complete the entire NBC process, however, there is an option to complete NBC in one year for six credits.
