A. Overall Expectation of a Lifted Leader
At Lifted YTH our expectation is to serve F.A.S.T.E.R. To serve with flexibility, accountability, with sustainability in mind, to be teachable, encouraging, and reliable.
The Faster idea comes from Joseph fleeing Potiphar's wife. As leaders, how fast do we respond to the spirits prompting? We want you to become faster, so that you can go deeper. Remember the way up is down; A lifted leader is always gauging how to be Faster.
Flexible-Who are we working with? Why is it related to the vision of the church? What is expected of me? Where is God leading us? When is it appropriate to try something new? Mark 1:16-17
Accountable-This is where the balance in our lives is just as important as our skill set. Who is helping you not to conform to the world but be transformed? Romans 12:2
Sustainable-What is our mindset going in? Will our goals add to the kingdom of God while being sustainable? Jenga is a great game that reflects life — remove the wrong pieces and the ministry falls apart. 1 Corinthians 12:20
Teachable-Just because you know something doesn’t mean you know everything-listening improves our ability to react rightly to situations — a teachable spirit fosters growth and is absent of pride. Acts 8:31
Encouraging-How are we coming along side others — what can we say or do to make this true while we’re around others. Ephesians 4:29
Reliable-How important is my word and does my word line up with my actions? How much trust should a believer trust in what you say? Luke 16:10 | 1 Thessalonians 2:13
B. Expectation of Involvement
Church
- Attendance at a minimum of two services each week. Serving in one and receiving in another
- Attendance at other key services (eg. Christmas and Easter)
Youth
- Weekly attendance on Friday night youth services
- To be a sacrificial leader towards youth ministry
- To be courteous and respectful to parents and other leaders
- to be enthusiastic and encouraging at services
Life Groups
- Attend Life Group Leaders meetings
- Leading or assist leading Lifted YTH Life Groups
Special Events
- To serve in key church/YTH events
  - Spring Camp, Summer Camp, Lock-ins, Easter, Trunk or Treat, Conferences, etc.
Training and Development
- Attendance at weekly leaders meeting
- Attendance at monthly Team Nights
- Attendance at Church-wide Leaders meetings
- Annual Safety training
* Leadership is not a "one-size-fits-all". If you are unable to commit to any of the above, please discuss it, with adequate amount of time, with the youth pastor/director.*
C. Lifestyle Expectation
As a leader you are expected to live by a moral standard that is an example to our young people.
- Use wisdom and lead by example in social settings
- Maintain sexual purity both personally and within relationships
- Maintain Biblical integrity within your work, business, friendships and family
- Abide by the laws of our nation
- Pursue spiritual growth at all times, spending time with God daily
- Have an honest accountability partner within the leadership who is able to encourage you to continue growing and changing.
In relation to alcohol consumption, we ask that you use your wisdom and remember that as a leader, you are an ambassador for Christ and His Church at every moment.Here are some guidelines to help with your decision making:
- Leaders MUST NOT drink in the presence of young people under the age of 21.
- Leaders MUST NOT consume alcohol at any church related event including life groups
- If you choose to drink, Leaders should drink responsibility and in moderation.
Keep this in mind: Romans 14 speaks on the tyranny of the weaker brother. In order not to make a brother or sister stumble, the stronger christian is to give up his liberty in order not to offend the weaker brother or cause that weaker brother to stumble.
Causing another to stumble can refer to doing something which leads directly to any sin on the part of another or is the subjective feeling of being offended by the actions of another, as in “I was offended to see him drink alcohol.”
