Events of the past months have thrown a challenge to a community that for decades has rallied around the shared goal of creating a world that is equitable across all continents, just and fair, seeks to learn, and lives within the planetary constraints. In uncertain times like this, it is instinctive to withdraw and retreat to protect oneself. This withdrawal, however, drives isolation and, as we all know, the work is communal – it cannot be done in isolation.
Journaling the work is an attempt to push back against this isolation. It is a brave space to speak about this time has affected all of us. This form is anonymous so feel free to be as open as possible. You can write about personal, professional, sectoral, philosophical, or any other way this period has impacted you.
We will publish all submissions anonymously on a medium blog to be shared publicly to the world.
Let's write what happened, and how it affected us so we can remember. As Wambui Mwangi notes in her essay Silence is a woman “to remember to make a member again, to bring that member back into the community of
imagination, re-awakening past trajectories and giving new momentum along new paths of the present.” So let's put words down that we will remember, and that will bring us back into the community of imagination, giving us new momentum to do the work.
