To participate in a Lauring Master Class, students must be nominated by their teachers.
Lauring Master Classes are open to pre-college guitarists from a wide range of ages and levels of training. The criteria for selecting participants include good preparation, serious dedication, and the ability to respond to suggestions in a class situation, whether the student is performing an advanced piece or something from the beginning repertoire. Students chosen to perform must be New Jersey, New York or Connecticut residents.
• Beginning Students: one memorized piece with which the student feels comfortable
• Intermediate and Advanced Students: Two contrasting selections of the teacher’s choice.
(One movement of a concerto or a sonata would constitute a selection.)
Repertoire must be memorized.
