Advancing Environmental Justice & Human Rights through Global Student Governance
The Velorum Council is an executive-level student organization dedicated to urban sustainability. We focus on the intersection of human rights and environmental crises, specifically the rising threat of subsurface climate change (underground heat islands). We are seeking ambitious students to found regional chapters and lead research that will be used to advocate for global policy changes
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF A VELORUM LEADER?
If appointed as a Regional Director or Chapter Lead, your responsibilities will include:
• Chapter Founding: Recruiting and managing a local "Cabinet" of 3–5 high-achieving peers.
• Community Education: Hosting at least one public seminar per semester on sustainability and subsurface heat impacts.
• Data Advocacy: Conducting local research on your city’s environmental governance and reporting findings to the Global Executive Body.
• Governance Participation: Attending mandatory monthly Global Summits led by Director Asil Alkhatib to align international strategy.
