2024 GCWA Best Beef Recipe Contest
Join us in celebrating our Georgia Beef Producers with your "BEST BEEF" recipe at the Georgia Cattlemen's Convention in Columbus March 13, 2024.

The focus of the dish for both the YOUTH and ADULT categories will be ground beef.

2024 GCWA BEST BEEF RECIPE CONTEST RULES
The GCWA Best Beef Recipe Contest aims to provide an opportunity for youth and adults to get involved in the Georgia cattle industry by developing their culinary skills and participating in a competitive activity focused on beef products. Participants are challenged to create a recipe utilizing ground beef, write it out, and bring the dish for a panel of judges to taste and provide feedback.

Divisions:
  • Youth (ages 8 - 17)
  • Adult (ages 18+)
General Contest Info & Rules for ALL Age Divisions:
  1. The recipe must be cooked before arrival and presented at proper serving temperature. (Suggestion: wrap your prepared recipe and bring in a cooler or insulated bag to help maintain proper temperature or keep in crockpot/roaster.)
  2. Contestants will need to drop their dishes off between 9:00 and 9:15am at the designated location (will be posted at check-in) and leave the judging area.
  3. Judging will begin at 9:30am and will not be delayed for late arrivals.
  4. Dishes will be judged on the taste, texture, originality, and prominence of beef.
  5. All dishes must have a hard-copy of the recipe accompanying them.
  6. After judging is complete, all dishes will need to be picked up between 10:00am and 10:30am from the same location.
  7. The final scores from each participant will be tallied and then ranked in numerical order to determine the individual whose total score is the highest in each division.
  8. The recipe contest will not be open to the public for viewing or tasting.
  9. Contestants are not required to be present to win. (Registration for GCA Convention is optional)
  10. All contest participants who plan to attend the Wednesday luncheon and/or tradeshow must register for the convention, separately.
  11. If someone else is bringing your dish, GCWA will need to be notified by March 8, 2024.

Someone must bring a hard-copy of the recipe and dish (kept at recommended temperature) to the Convention Center. Upon arrival, visit the GCA Convention Registration Desk inside the convention center on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 between 9:00AM and 9:15AM. Recipes should include the participant's name and age division on the back.
