Views on Climate and Learning Subcommittee
I. Mission Statement
The Views on Climate and Learning (VOCAL) subcommittee is committed to fostering
an inclusive, fair, and diverse school district. Our mission is to serve as advocates for
our students, elevate data-driven insights to guide decision-making, and build coalition
partnerships within our Masconomet Regional District communities.
II. Objectives
The objectives are to:
1. Serve as Advocates for our Students
Foster open, transparent communication students, student communities, school
committee, and leadership, ensuring that concerns, ideas, and opportunities for greater
inclusivity are heard and addressed.
2. Elevate Data for Impact
Champion identification, gathering, and analysis of data to guide strategic initiatives and
support advocacy, decision-making, policy changes and procedural updates that
dismantle systemic barriers and promote equity.
3. Observe and Advocate through Coalition Partnerships
Build and maintain strategic partnerships with local, regional, and national coalitions
focused on advancing equity, inclusion, and human rights. Leverage these relationships
to stay informed about best practices and to advocate for systemic change.
III. Meeting Structure, Accountability and Reporting
Subcommittee will be managed according to school committee policy and
Massachusetts General Laws (MGL).
IV. Amendment of the Charter
This charter may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the subcommittee membership,
subject to approval by the school committee. Amendments should reflect the evolving
needs and goals of the committee, the Masconomet Regional School District, and the
broader community.
