Disclaimer: Information on this document is gathered from a beta version when it was being tested.  There may be minor changes to some details of the race when it is released in production.  We will update the guide as we try the race in production should there be any changes/discrepancies.

Preface

Before we begin, we would like to thank all of the beta testers in our group that helped with the data and sharing many screenshots.  We would also like to thank everyone who supported us during this test.  At the time of testing we weren’t allowed to disclose any new features in the game that we were testing, we already asked if this will replace Interseason or not and the question was not answered directly.  Even at the preview it said “event” and Playrix said Interseason is not being removed or changed.

This was not a regular beta testing that invites were sent out to random testers.  This was an organized testing with a small group of people with Playrix, and we have agreed not to leak any information regarding the new features.  We weren’t told whether this will replace regatta, seasonal or internseasonal, or just an event or a race added to the existing regattas at the time of testing.  So it was best to not say anything as it may be incorrect information.

However, we believe this change is not because of hopping.  Playrix has had major updates to their game once every 2 years - 2013/14: Township launched on mobile, 2016: Introduction of Regatta, 2018: Introduction of Interseasonal Regatta, and 2020: Race of Champions.  This was in their plan for months, it was part of their roadmap of changes.  We think their intention is to improve the game in general.  Because they did resolve many issues from normal Interseasonal Regatta that many have complained about: chests being stuck because 1 member has not finished it, waiting time for chests to refresh is too long and expensive, etc.

We hope you will give this a try before having any negative feeling towards it.  There are fun aspects here and it did manage to keep most of us glued to the game for the whole week.  There is true team work involved and no one “holding up” any tasks.  It actually is pretty fun to do with your co-op and friends.  Although we wish there were more rewards but it is what it is.

Overview

Race of Champion is a race that has unlimited tasks and all tasks can be shared and completed by 1 or more co-op members.  Each member that contributed to completing the task will get key points.

The race consists of 8 co-ops and the top 3 placements will be rewarded 100, 75, and 50 tcash respectively.  The tcash reward is per racing member in the co-op.

How Does It Work?

The race starts at the normal regatta start time.  Members in the co-op must be set to racing status in order to participate.

If you are not in a co-op, you won’t be able to participate:

The restrict button is available during this race, and non-racing members cannot participate, and will not get any rewards.

Here are the instructions from the game:

Points to note:

If you are opted out or restricted mid race, or joined a co-op after the race started, you will see this message:

The Information of the Race from the game:

Race Tab - Race Tasks

Any regular regatta tasks can be a task here.  The points for each task are random, dependent on the amount of items the task asks for.  Remember, the tasks are supposed to be done together with the co-op, it is not a task for 1 person to do (unless you are racing solo).

The amounts for each task differs depending on the size of your co-op, the number of racing members.  The more racing members the higher the amounts.

You don’t need to select a task to start it.  Anyone in the co-op can do the tasks at any time.  For example, you need to get some milk to make cheese and there is a milk task on the board, whatever milk you collect will be counted towards the task even if you were not aware that is a task on the board currently.

Each task has a “Leaderboard” that shows the top 4 contributors for that task only.  Anyone else that contributed but not the top 4 will not be shown on the list.  However, everyone that contributed, even with just 1 item, will get key points.  We will talk about how key points are calculated in the Key Points section.

There is no time limit for each task.  You cannot delete it, so you have to do it or you can ignore it and just work on the others.  Once the task is completed, it will take a minute to refresh a new one, you cannot pay tcash to refresh it. (time to refresh a new task to be confirmed once released)

The key points for tasks range from 25 to 139 so far, not sure if there will be more than 139 points for larger co-ops and lower points for smaller co-ops.

There are “Gift” icons on some tasks, up to 7 in total for the week.  These gift tasks have rewards given to the whole co-op when completed within the timeframe.  If a member was offline while the task was completed, they will get the reward when they log in.

There will only be 1 gift task at a time on the board.  A new gift task will be available after some tasks are done including the current gift task.  We think it's about 1 gift task every 5 tasks but we have yet to confirm it.

If you fail to complete a gift task within the gift time limit, the gift icon simply disappears and the task becomes a normal task.  New gift tasks will keep appearing until you complete 7 of them, which means you can fail gift tasks and wait for the next one to appear.

When gift tasks are completed while you are offline, you will see the gift icon when you go back online, and you will be able to claim the gifts.

Rewards inside the gifts include (but not limited to, this is only showing what we got when testing):

Rewards Tab - Competition

There are 8 co-ops in a competition, top 3 rewards are 100, 75, and 50 tcash (per racing member).  Rewards for 4th to 8th place varies, each co-op member gets different rewards (ie. member A may see 4 nails and 5 shovels for 4th to 6th place and member B may see 2 platinum ingots and 3 axes for 4th to 6th place) - this will need to be verified when race is in production to make sure it wasn’t a beta issue.

The groups are grouped by co-ops with the same amount of racing members, just like regular regatta.  We cannot confirm if it also depends on the league the co-op is in, as we were all in wooden league when testing.

We had to press the green “go” button to see the board and start tasks.  Did we get grouped once the first person of the co-op pressed go? Or did we get grouped once the first task is finished? This will be interesting to see when this goes live.

You can be a solo racer or up to 30 members.  The amounts for the tasks will be relative to your co-op size (only counts racing members).

Example for rewards: below are the rewards from 4th to 6th place (Renowned Racer) seen from 3 different co-op members in the same co-op: (this may change after release too)

Team Rewards

When race is over, we will see a trophy in the Race track:

Statistics Tab

On the statistics tab you will see your co-op members and their personal key points score.  You get key points for every task you have contributed in completing.   You DO NOT get extra rewards for being in the top 3 here.  It is just for friendly competition within the co-op.

How are Key Points Calculated?

Let’s take this pepper task as an example. We have organized 8 people to do this task together to check the points we will get.  Contributors 5 to 8 are not shown in the picture.

Pepper Task (350 peppers) Total Key Points: 89

Key Points Formula:

(contribution amount / task amount) x total key points = personal key points

Contributor #1 -

(120/350) x 89 = 30.514 = 31 personal key points

Contributor #2 -

(81/350) x 89 = 20.597 = 21 personal key points

Contributor #3 -

(64/350) x 89 = 16.274 = 16 personal key points

Contributor #4 -

(40/350) x 89 = 10.171 = 10 personal key points

Contributor #5 -

(23/350) x 89 = 5.848 = 6 personal key points

Contributor #6 -

(10/350) x 89 = 2.542 = 3 personal key points

Contributor #7 -

(8/350) x 89 = 2.034 = 2 personal key points

Contributor #8 -

(4/350) x 89 = 1.017 = 1 personal key point

If you add up all the personal key points from all 8 contributors, you will get about 89 total points. (Depending on the contribution spread per person, due to rounding up the numbers you may be a point or 2 over)

Sample Tasks

Here are some tasks that our groups got during the week.  The amount for each task depends on the number of racing members in the co-op.

Co-op of 10 Racers

Co-op of 22 Racers

Some Ideas to Enjoy this Championship Race

You don’t need to do this with your home co-op only.  You can organize groups of up to 30 friends and be in 1 co-op for the week to do this race.  This race can be done in wooden league.

While we don’t know how the competition grouping works, if it is the same as regular regatta, maybe we can have up to 8 co-ops (30 people x 8), set to the same region and all in wooden league, and try to all start at the same time to see if you can be grouped together in the same race.  Then all of the racers can be in the same messenger chat group to chat and share their race and experience.  (Although please remember there are only good tcash rewards for top 3 of the race, so you may or may not want all 8 co-ops in the same race, in that case just have groups of 3 starting at the same time)

Anyway, this is just a thought, you can make up any new games or methods to hang out and race with friends.

Doing Tasks:

https://youtu.be/DOOSfMrrQeU

Common Questions

  1. Do I need to press start to take a task?

No, there are no start buttons.  The task starts as soon as anyone in the co-op does it.  For example, if there is a plane task on the board, as soon as a racing member sends their plane, it will be counted automatically.

  1. Can all tasks be done at the same time?

Yes, all 5 tasks can be done simultaneously.  You can also be working on all 5 tasks at the same time.  For example, the board has: feed, heli, trains, popsicles, and rubber.  You can feed some cows and then send some helis, collect popsicles and send your trains while growing your rubber and everything will be counted on the tasks.

  1. Do all members get the gift rewards even if some didn’t contribute to the task?

Yes, as long as the member is in racing status, they will get all gifts whether they did anything or not.  Having said that, if you are planning to put some lower level towns in the co-op just to win some resources, the high level players in the co-op will need to take the burden and do more for each task if the lower level towns can’t do it.

  1. Are tasks harder the more racing members in the co-op?

It’s not harder per se, but the task amounts will be greater.  Not to confuse anyone, but the key points per task play a factor as well.  For example, for a co-op of 10 members, you can get a plane x 1 task too, but key points will be 25 only.  You can also get a plane x 6 task which the key points will be 125.  Then a plane x 8 may appear and the key points will be 135.

  1. Do we have to be in wooden league so the tasks are easier?

No, the tasks are based on number of racers and the key points on it.  The higher the key points the harder the task.

  1. Can I race in a solo co-op?

Yes, the tasks will be easy enough for 1 person to complete.

  1. Will my co-op get demoted if we are the bottom 3 of the competition?

We are not sure, as we tested in wooden league.  However, we tested for 2 weeks and most members stayed as wooden league even if we won first place.  I say most because there are a few that went up to copper league (we checked in yacht club) and we cannot explain it.  I don’t want to scare anyone but we believe your league won't get affected but we have to wait to confirm.

  1. Will delay start help my co-op?

In theory yes, but the question is we are not sure when exactly the grouping happens.  When the race starts, there is a screen that says you can participate in the race and a green GO button.  Once the GO button is pressed you will then see the board.  We are not sure if the grouping starts when the GO button is pressed by anyone in the co-op or once the first task is taken.

  1. We really can’t dump or refresh tasks?

In beta, we can’t.  But things can change when the race starts after being released in production.

  1. It really takes 1 minute for task to refresh?

In beta, yes.  But things can change when the race starts after being released in production.

  1. What is the best size for the co-op for this race?

It depends.  If your co-op is used to task coordination and very well communicated, you can be in a 30 people co-op with no problem.  If you are not used to prepping tasks and coordinating with your co-op, then we will suggest a smaller co-op to start.

  1. Can we restrict members that are not contributing?

Yes, but it is highly recommended that you ask members to opt out if they can’t commit to a week long racing, or restrict before race starts.

  1. What crops should we plant before race starts to prep?

There can be any crop task on the board, depending on your co-op size, maybe have some people plant silk and rubber but it may not be enough and more planting will be required regardless.  One tip though, do not plant all the plots, leave some for wheat/carrot/corn to make feeds.  You will need to constantly refill the feeds.  Remember, this is a race but it is also a marathon.  Do not use all your resources on day 1.
