Stonewall KC Leadership Board Openings
Overview
We are excited to announce several open board positions and launch the application process:
The application form will be open from until the rolls are filled
Director positions will be appointed per the special election Stonewall KC bylaws:
- An application is required, and a casual meet-and-greet or phone call with the director may be requested.
Assistant Director positions are appointed per the Stonewall KC bylaws:
- An application is required, and a casual meet-and-greet or phone call with the director may be requested.
Applications will be reviewed and applicants will be notified of board appointments on a continuous basis.

General Board Expectations
We want to set our board members up for success by very clearly sharing expectations of being a board member. As you are considering applying, below are some general expectations to note. For the full list of board expectations, please see our newly revised Board Expectations document.
- Meetings: The Stonewall KC Board meets monthly (virtually) on the first Wednesday of the month from 6:30 pm - 8 pm.
- This is only required for Principal-level positions and the Exec team
- Assistant Director positions are welcome to attend but not required to attend our in-person quarterly meetings, also occurring on a Wednesday from 6:30 pm - 8 pm.
- Retreats: We have two in-person retreats each year, typically held on a Saturday in February and August. A requirement for the whole board.
- Email: You’ll receive a Stonewall Sports email and are expected to check that approximately every 48 hours in order to maintain responsiveness.
- Conduct: You should uphold, abide by, and champion our player Code of Conduct.
Executive Board Expectations
In addition to the expectations above, members of the Executive Board also have the following expectations:
- Meetings: Attend monthly Executive meetings, typically held on Wednesday evenings as well. This means that Executive Board members have 2 meetings per month (or 24 per year).
- Retreats: Executive Board members also help plan and facilitate all board retreats and meetings.
- Conduct: Executive Board members also participate, as needed, in facilitating the incident reporting process outlined in our Code of Conduct while maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality with respect to incident reporting.
Assistant Sponsorship Director
Term Length
Beginning January 2024; no term limitation and eligible for reappointment after _____
Description
The Assistant Sponsorship Director will be responsible for assisting with and assuming the duties and responsibilities of the Sponsorship Director in their absence.
- The Assistant Sponsorship Director shall help with the solicitation, confirmation and ongoing communication between the organization and the sponsor.
- The Assistant Sponsorship Director will assist with the coordination of fundraising activities for the organization as well as the interactions with the organization's selected charity.
- The Assistant Sponsorship Director will work under the guidance of the Sponsorship Director and the Treasurer.
- They shall track donation pledges and submissions as well as help monitor the organization's support and promotion of each sponsor.

- Our annual sponsorship cycle falls at the beginning of each year, aiming to formally conclude by the start of the spring sport seasons.
What We’re Looking For
The Assistant Sponsorships Director is a new position on the board. As a new position, we are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit that is excited about further defining the role with the support of the Sponsorship Director.
Although not required, candidates with the following qualities, experiences, skills, or knowledge are likely thrive in this position:
- The ability to seek out potential sponsors who might match with our mission and inclusivity.
- The potential to start conversations with brands or sponsors and give a :30 elevator pitch about the benefits of the league
- The ability to multitask and find creative ways to get sponsors involved in our leagues and events throughout the year
Chapter Representative (National)
Term Length
3 years (March 2025 - January 2028)
Overview:
Each chapter of Stonewall Sports will send one representative to the National Board of Directors to serve a three-year (3) term, attending monthly meetings. Here they will serve as representatives and advocates of their chapter, acting as a liaison between SSI and chapter leadership. Additionally, and of equal importance, they will serve as Directors working on behalf of SSI at large.
Nominees should be:
- Current and Active members of the local chapter looking to lead and make positive contributions to the organization
- Deeply invested in advancing the mission and vision of Stonewall Sports
- Able to summarize and communicate ideas and needs of the chapter and SSI at large
- Able to advance a point of view while also keeping an open mind
- Available to commit to a three-year (3) term with the expectation of ~8-10 hours of participation per month
- Planning to attend the National Tournament and available for travel to other chapters
The Role:
- Attend 1 monthly BoD meeting (~2 hours per month)
- Attend 1 monthly Committee meeting (~1.5 hours per month)
- Attend ad-hoc committee meetings and/or interviews as available (~2 hours per month)
- REGULARLY meet with local leaders to discuss updates for and from the national board
- Travel on behalf of SSI as needed and available (SSI will provide financial support)

Assistant Community Relations Director
Term Length
Beginning March 2024; no term limitation and eligible for reappointment after _____
Description
The Assistant Community Relations Director will be responsible for assisting with and assuming the duties and responsibilities of the Community Relations Director in their absence.
- The Assistant Relations Engagement Director shall help facilitate the projects related to a commitment to community relations (this includes partnership events, fundraising events, etc.).
- The Assistant Relations Engagement Director will assist with promoting opportunities for league members and players to engage in community building events, including partner events, fundraising for the National Tournament, and other related activities.
- The Assistant Relations Engagement Director will assist the Director with the liaison role for league members planning such events.

Assistant Events Director
Term Length

Description
The Assistant Events Director will be responsible for assisting with and assuming the duties and responsibilities of the Events Director in their absence.
- The Assistant Events Director shall help plan and coordinate league-wide social events throughout the season.
- The Assistant Events Director shall be a secondary/primary contact for external entities during the planning, coordination and execution of social and fundraising events.
- The Assistant Events Director will assist in hiring/recruiting subcontractors (DJs, entertainers, caterers, etc) for all league events.
- The Assistant Events Director will assist in planning fundraisers and non social sporting events throughout each year.

Assistant Kickball Director
Term Length
Beginning March 2025; no term limitation and eligible for reappointment after _____
Description
The Assistant Kickball Director(s) will be responsible for assisting the Kickball Director in the day-to-day operations of the Kickball league.The Assistant Kickball Director(s) will be responsible for assisting with and assuming the duties and responsibilities of the Kickball Director in their absence.
- The Assistant Kickball Director shall assist the Kickball Director in overseeing the day-to-day operations of their league.
- The Assistant Kickball Director shall assist the Kickball Director and help serve as the arbiter of any disputes relating to the implementation of the rules with the exception of any dispute involving the team to which they belong (in such cases, the arbiter will be the Division Lead or a disinterested member of the board).
- The Assistant Kickball Director shall assist the Kickball Director and will help with uploading and maintaining team rankings, standings, and score differentials on the organization’s website
- Assistants are selected by their respective Director and approved by their respective Executive Team Member.
What We’re Looking For
The Assistant Kickball Director is an established position on the board. As an established position, we have worked on better defining the position and responsibilities. As a growing organization, however, we are continually working on improving role clarity.
For this specific Assistant Kickball Director position, we are looking for someone who is willing to help with field management. This includes setting up the fields before games by measuring and painting them. This will need to be the first Saturday before the league starts. If there isn’t rain, the fields can be painted using a spot check on either Saturday or Sunday morning. If it rains, they will need to be measured and painted again the Saturday before games. This also includes Sunday mornings setting up the bases, pitchers strips, and cones before the start of the first games (first games are at 10am).

Assistant Sports Director - Volleyball
Term Length

Description
The Assistant Volleyball Director will be responsible for assisting the Volleyball Director in the day-to-day operations of the Volleyball league. They will also assume the duties and responsibilities of the Director in their absence.

- The upcoming Volleyball season runs in Summer from June - August and will be on Sundays.
What We’re Looking For
The Assistant Volleyball Director - is a new position on the board. As a new position, we are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit that is excited about further defining the role with the support of the Volleyball Director.
Although not required, candidates with the following qualities, experiences, skills, or knowledge are likely thrive in this position:
- Computer or technical skills that would be helpful in updating scores through our sports software program LeagueApps
- Enthusiasm for volleyball and any experience playing
- Knowledge of general Volleyball rules
- Communication skills - email, video calls, and in person.
- Conflict resolution skills to ensure that any instances of conflict that do arise are handled according to Stonewall Code of Conduct.
Director of Administration (Exec) - FILLED
Term Length
2 years (January 2025 - January 2027)
Description
The Director of Administration helps ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the board itself, maximizing our effectiveness and efficiency and promoting healthy board culture. They also manage and supervise the Administrative Coordinator and the Communications Director. The responsibilities of the position include the following:
- Maintaining all records, administrative files, and governance documents associated with the organization, including our bylaws and facilitating formal votes.
- Creating and maintaining minutes for all Executive Board meetings.
- Onboarding and offboarding new and transitioning board members
- Assisting the Treasurer with accurate planning/budgeting cost for each sport and individual event.
- Serving as a member of the Executive Board, and, in that role, to contributing to decisions about the direction of the organization (in line with its mission and values), planning board meetings and retreats, participating in responding to the community incident reporting process, and serving as the primary Exec point of contact and support person for the Admin team.

DEI & Community Coordinator (Principal) - ON HOLD
Term Length
Beginning January 2024; no term limitation and eligible for reappointment after _____
Description
The DEI & Community Coordinator will be responsible for assisting with and assuming the duties and responsibilities of the DEI & Community Director in their absence. They will be a voting member of the Leadership board and expected to be compliant with the provisions of these bylaws and the code of conduct.
- The DEI & Community Coordinator shall help to develop initiatives to advance DEI efforts within Stonewall KC, and, where possible, work in conjunction with other board members to support diversity, equity, and inclusion within other Stonewall KC events and programs
- DEI & Community Coordinator shall support the Director in the DEI Committee.
- DEI & Community Coordinator will work with the Director to build, support, and lead DEI initiatives within the community.

Sponsorship Director (Principal) - FILLED
Term Length
2 years (December 2024 - January 2027)
Description
The Sponsorship Director shall maintain regular and continuous engagement with the sponsors of the organization. They shall track donation pledges and submissions as well as monitor the organization's support and promotion of each sponsor.
- The Sponsorship Director shall be the main point of contact for the solicitation, confirmation and ongoing communication between the organization and the sponsor.
- The Sponsorship Director will assist with the coordination of fundraising activities for the organization as well as the interactions with the organization's selected charity.
- The Sponsorship Director will work under the guidance of the Treasurer.

Sports Director - Volleyball - FILLED
Term Length
2 years (December 2024 - January 2027)
Description
The Sports Director - Volleyball shall oversee the day-to-day operations of the Volleyball league, including the following responsibilities:
- Be the final authority on the rules and regulations and shall be responsible for updating the rules for the league.
- Serve as the arbiter of any disputes relating to the implementation of the rules with the exception of any dispute involving the team to which they belong (in such cases, the arbiter will be the Assistant Director or a disinterested member of the board).
- Each Sports Director shall be responsible for identifying, recruiting, selecting and training referees, umpires and Division Leads for each season.
- The Sports Director shall determine field safety conditions for each game and shall establish a protocol for inclement weather.
- Upload and maintain team rankings, standings, and score differentials on the organization’s website
- Responsible for maintaining the sport budget as well as t-shirt and equipment orders
- Responsible for timeline planning for their league and working with the Events Director for planning free agent socials and any league specific events

- The upcoming Volleyball season runs in Summer from June - August and will be on Sunday’s at Kingdom Beach.

Treasurer (Exec) - FILLED
Term Length
2 years (December 2024 - January 2027)
Description
The Treasurer is responsible for the organization's financial transactions. The Treasurer manages and supervises the Sponsorship Director.
- The Treasurer will maintain financial records for the organization, prepare a budget each season, monitor the financial accounts, and be responsible for all financial transactions.
- The Treasurer will compile quarterly financial reports to be shared with the executive team, and a yearly financial report to be shared out with the community at the Annual Town Hall, and made available to the public.
- The Treasurer will serve as a member of the Executive Board, and in that role will be responsible to contribute to decisions about the direction of the organization (in line with its mission and values), plan board meetings and retreats, participate in responding to the community incident reporting process, and serve as the primary Exec point of contact and support person for the Sponsorship team

Operations Coordinator (Principal) - FILLED
Term Length
2 years (December 2024 - January 2027)
Description
The Operations Coordinator will be responsible for assisting with and assuming the duties and responsibilities of the Operations Director in their absence. They will assist with managing and supervising the Sports Director(s) and Events Director, the Director of Operations is ultimately responsible for all Sports Directors, referees, umpires and Division Leads for each season.
- They will assist in accurately planning/budgeting costs for each sport.
- They will assist the Director of Operations in identifying and securing appropriate venues for all sporting events as well as develop, publish and manage the game and event schedules for said sports.
- They will assist the Director of Operations in supervising the current operations of the organization and the planning of future operations/sports leagues in seasons of the organization; 6 month plan forward.
