On 26th November, 1949 we the People of India solemnly resolved to constitute India into a "Sovereign Democratic Republic". Later the inclusion of two significant words "Socialist" and "Secular" in the 42nd Amendment of the Constitution (1976) further changed the very definition of 'India'. The Constitution of India is a fundamental document that functions in maintaining the integrity of these vows. The Constitution also reflects the social, economic and political ideas and aspirations of the Indians. The students' seminar presentations reaffirmed these aspects/corners of the Constitution repeatedly along with reflecting the necessity of re-exploring it over and over again for the greater good of the citizens.

World AIDS Day is globally observed on December 1. It has become one of the most widely recognized international health days and a key opportunity to raise awareness regarding the lethal malady. An Awareness Programme on AIDS was conducted by the NSS unit of Malda College on 30th November, 2019 [Due to unavailability of the resource person on 1st december which is known as World AIDS day, the programme was rescheduled on 30th November]. The programme started at 11 am in the Seminar Gallery of the college.
Dr. Amitabha Mandal, Deputy Chief Method Officer of Health - II, Malda, and Dr. Goutam Sarkar, MO-DNT, Malda, were present as the experts cum Resource Persons. Dr. Mandal had delivered an elaborate lecture on the emergence of HIV virus in history, its type, the ways through which it can spread amongst humans. Dr. Sarkar's lecture pointed out the most curious issue-- the societal acceptability of an AIDS patient. Usually, as Dr. Sarkar claimed, in India, HIV is often associated with shame (often most people believe that it is spread because of sexual encounters with prostitutes) and, moreover, the societies segregate the patient thinking of the contagious nature of HIV. The AIDS patients also have to face oppressive desocialization. Therefore Dr. Sarkar affirmed the necessities of more and more awareness programme on AIDS are needed to make people understand the nature of HIV virus and the ways its spread can be limited without alienating the victims.
The programme ended with extending the note of thanks to the speakers by the Principal on behalf of Malda College.

With utter regret it is to inform that on 28th November, 2019, a fire broke out in the BCA Central Laboratory and completely destroyed the lab's equipments/materials including computers, furnitures, and valuable datas. It was about 2 pm when a few computers caught fire (most probably, because of short circuit) and the fire spread quickly. The concerned stuff of the college attempted to control the flames with the fire extinguisher but the situation was becoming increasingly worse. However, the fire brigade arrived within twenty five minutes and stopped the fire from being spreading outside the room. Otherwise the entire administrative building would have been at risk. Hence, the college is very much grateful to the fire brigade department of Malda.

Annual Cultural Function 2019 was organized and managed by the Students’ Union of Malda College. On 23nd December, 2019, the programme was inaugurated by Dr. Manas Kr. Baidya, the Principal of Malda College. Dr. Baidya had wisely elucidated the necessity of such programmes even in the academic sphere to alleviate any sort of impression that the students might get regarding the college as a space of intense academic pressure and to provide the students the sense of liberty and the scopes to strengthen their bonds with their peers, the teachers, and the college as well. The grand fest of college went on for two days (22nd-23rd December, 2019) with variable cultural programmes including folk music, performance of classical songs, solo and duet songs, dancing and, obviously, the live performance of pop/hard rock songs. The stage was set on the large ground of Malda College, and yet, the space seemed to be limited because of the huge audience.
