Is the site just a place where people who find interesting learning videos can submit them for others to discover?
As of now how it works is that a user can basically submit a youtube playlist that he considers as something that is a course with structure. For housekeeping purposes, for now, once a new playlist link is submitted an email trigger is generated saying that a new course is added, which we can validate and add other relevant data related to the course like thumbnail, description, etc and add it to the database of resources.
Are the current videos in English or are there any guidelines on what types of videos can be submitted?
SelfSchool is just like an aggregator, it can basically take in and show any free playlist course from youtube, so there it’s pretty open. But if you want you can change the processes to make them more customised for the type of content you want the users to access in the future.
Is there an internal approval process and categorization on the backend - is it manual or automatic?
It could very well be automated as the forms are connected with Airtable, so it just takes 5-10 minutes to turn it in a way where the users can submit the course URL, course preview image, and some other metadata, and then it would be added to the website directly in real time.
Do you have an email list of users that are included with the site?
Yes, there is an email list of 19000+ users and counting who have registered on the website to access courses till date. The medium being typeform some emails might be junky but ya there is a good email list of users. Find a screenshot of the email list data below.
If so, where are the bulk of the users from? USA or global?

I know that you said you did not plan to monetize the site? Have you thought about ways that you might monetize it if you were to pursue that?
SelfSchool has got a great brand and lists on top on google when you search for it. There could be multiple ways, one way would be to go with an education platform with a premium offering or even a freemium model for users to pay to get full access to the database of free courses. How are you getting traffic to the site now?
A lot of folks write and share about SelfSchool even to date, it's shared very extensively on communities and blogs, Twitter, etc. It gets good organic traffic too. Attaching the analytics of the source of traffic below.

I hope your questions cover most of it. Would like to share a little about the tech stack. The website is built through NoCode - using Soft.io. Softr supports good customization so building extensions to monetize the product shouldn't be a problem. Selfschool uses Airtable as a database. One year domain is valid till 23 May 2022 after which it's a $10 charge per year. The operations cost is close to 0 with most of it running on a free plan of Softr and airtable. It's very lean and if you plan to build this product further you might need to spend on subscriptions and other tech costs.
