Les Misérables is the world’s longest running musical — a true modern classic based on Victor Hugo's novel and featuring one of the most memorable scores of all time. The multi-award-winning Les Misérables is as groundbreaking today as it was when it first premiered in London in 1985. Les Misérables School Edition features updated orchestrations based on the Tony-nominated 2014 Broadway revival.

In nineteenth century France, Jean Valjean is released from years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a lifelong struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. Finally, during the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life and saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean's adopted daughter.

Cast members will spend each rehearsal day learning songs, choreography and dialogue to perform the entire musical at the end of only 2 weeks! All participants will audition for their role before the intensive begins so they can get a jump-start on memorization! As an intensive, students will help design and collect props, costumes, and sets and be a part of the whole process from beginning to end!

Adapted from the three-time-Tony-nominated Broadway hit comes A Year with Frog and Toad KIDS. Based on Arnold Lobel's well-loved books, the jazzy, upbeat score bubbles with melody. Part vaudeville, part make-believe, and all charm, A Year with Frog and Toad KIDS tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons. This whimsical show follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog, and the rather grumpy Toad – through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn life lessons along the way. Throughout the year, two best friends celebrate and rejoice in the differences that make them unique and special.

All participants will audition for their role before camp begins so they can get a jump-start on memorization! Be a part of this unique cast experience and learn how a whole show can come together in only 2 weeks! It's an experience you don't want to miss!

Be careful what you wish for, as Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s cockeyed fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical.  Into the Woods JR. features all of your favorite characters — Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the Witch — in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables. The musical centers on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse, and wind up changed forever.

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT OUR SCHOOL OF THEATRE SUMMER CAMPS!

If you’ve registered for theatre summer camp before at TCH–welcome back! If you’re a first-timer–HUZZAH! We’re so glad you found us. Here are a few things to keep in mind about experiencing summer at The Culture House. All of our theatre summer programs are licensed through the appropriate organizations. Our summer camps incorporate a mixture of music accessed through our ASCAP license. We do not present dramatic performances of any professional musicals–with the exceptions of our three 2 Week Musical Intensive Camps, which are fully licensed shows through Music Theatre International and include costumes, sets, props, and choreography.

For our week-long camps, though there is singing and dancing, campers enjoy the experience of participating in a 15-20 min “cabaret” or “revue-style” showcase without dialogue, costumes, sets, or choreography that invoke any copywritten or already licensed material. Our camps are all about energy, fun, singing, and moving in ways that give campers an authentic Culture House School of Theatre experience in an encouraging, dynamic environment. Check out our options, bring some friends, and see you soon at camp!
