*Prayer of Praise and Adoration                                                  UCC Book of Worship

Ever present God, companion of all who seek you,

and seeker of all who turn away from you,

draw nearer to us that we may draw near to you,

and grant us the grace to love and serve you

so we may find our freedom

in your will and way.

In the love of Jesus, the Christ, we pray. Amen

*Opening Hymn: #284 (Vss. 1-4)                Gather Us In

Here in this place the new light is streaming,

Shadows of doubt are vanished away.

See in this space our fears and our dreamings,

Brought here to you in the light of this day.

Gather us in, the lost and forsaken;

Gather us in; our spirits in flame.

Call to us now, and we shall awaken;

We shall arise at the sound of our name.

We are the young-our lives are a mystery;

We are the old, who yearn for your face.

We have been sung through-out all history,

Called to be light to the whole human race.

Gather us in – the rich and the haughty;

Gather us in - the proud and the strong;

Give us a heart so meek and so lowly;

Give us the courage to enter the song.

Here we receive new life in the waters;

Here we receive the bread of new birth;

Here you shall call your sons and your daughters,

Call us a new to be salt for the earth.

Give us to drink the wine of compassion,

Give us to eat the bread that is you;

Nourish us well, and teach us to fashion

Lives that are holy and hearts that are true.

Not just in buildings, small and confining,

Not in some heaven, light years away,

Here in this place the new light is shining;

Now is God present, and now is the day.

Gather us in and hold us forever;

Gather us in and make us your own;

Gather us in, all peoples together,

Fire of love in our flesh and our bone.

*Passing the Peace – please wave to others.

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer – Pastor & Congregation

Offering Music #420 (Vss. 1,2,3,5)                I Come With Joy                     DOVE OF PEACE

        I come with joy, a child of God, Forgiven, loved and free,

        The life of Jesus to recall, In love laid down for me,In love laid down for me.

        I come with Christians far and near to find, as all are fed,

        The new community of love In Christ’s communion bread, In Christ’s communion bread.

        As Christ breaks bread, And bids us share, Each proud division ends.

        The love that made us, makes us one,

And strangers now are friends, And strangers now are friends.

Together met, together bound By all that God has done,

We’ll go with joy, to give the world

The love that makes us one, The love that makes us one.

*Prayer of Dedication for Gifts and Self

O God, as we offer our treasure and hearts to you,

may they be used to pass on

the promise of hope, of peace, of life,

to our neighbors in need.  Amen

Offerings may be placed in the white collection bin behind the last center pew as you leave service today.

Communion Celebration

This table is open to all who wish to know the presence of the Christ, symbolized in this humble act of sharing. Come not because you must, but because you may. It is spread for you and me, that we might know that God has come to us, shared our common lot, and invites us to be God’s people in Christ. No matter what your race, your creed, your gender, or your orientation, all are welcome here –This is the table of grace. Come to this table, just as you are. The cup is never empty, and the plate is always full.

Pastor: The sustaining elements of bread and wine reveal God’s unfailing provision for us in body and in spirit. Today, as we share God’s feast, let us remember that Jesus gracious power is at work today, in the Word, in the bread, in the wine, and in our community.

People:   This is the joyful feast for the people of God. Men and women, youth and children, come from the east and the west, the north and the south and gather around Christ’s table. Partake and be made whole.

Prayer of Consecration (Unison)

Loving God, we take these common elements, made from grain and grapes, and set them aside for this holy purpose, consecrated by You, and confirmed by the faith in our hearts. Amen.

Prayer of Thanksgiving (Unison)

God, we thank You for inviting us to this table, where we have known the presence of the living Christ and have received all Christ’s gifts. Strengthen our faith and increase our love for one another. Go with us to the streets, to our homes, and to our places of work and play, so we may carry Your amazing grace, and the light of Christ’s love into the world. It is in His name we pray, Amen.

1 Corinthians 11:23-25

For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
