BHB 2023 SCHOLARSHIP

The Chance Anthony Frazier BHB Scholarship will award one scholarship to a graduating high school student from St. James High School who is furthering their education. The BHB Board of Directors will render this scholarship as an opportunity to assist a student who is pursuing their educational goals. As graduates of St. James High School, it is our heart’s desire to invest in our youths as they strive to reach their potential.  One scholarship with a maximum of $1,000 will be awarded to one applicant in two installments.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Anticipating receiving high school diploma by May 31, 2023
  • Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited post secondary institution
  • Student must be enrolled as full-time, undergraduate
  • Student of St. James High School
  • Provide documentation of enrollment to post secondary institution

There are no restrictions on the purposes for which the scholarship is spent. This scholarship is to defray the rising costs of tuition and related expenses in higher education.

GUIDELINES FOR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Completed applications must be submitted to St. James High School Guidance Counselor by noon on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Further, applicants must provide documentation of admissions to the school indicated on the application. The scholarship winner will be announced at St. James High School Senior Awards Night.

Applications received by May 2nd , are to be reviewed by a committee of nonpartisan citizens selected by BHB. That committee will review, evaluate, and select a winner and two alternates to represent.  

Funds from the scholarship shall be remitted to the scholarship winner after satisfactory evidence of enrollment has been received by BHB. If for any reason a recipient relinquishes a scholarship or fails to enroll as a full-time undergraduate student at an institution of higher learning, the scholarship will be granted to the alternate who was selected by the committee. BHB reserves the right to reject any winner based upon good cause, such as failure to comply with prescribed guidelines, or behavior or misconduct causing discredit and/or embarrassment to BHB.

Prepare a 500-word essay describing a special attribute or accomplishment that sets you apart from your peers. Please adhere to the following instructions:

  • On an additional sheet(s) of 8 ½ x 11 paper respond to the essay topic above
  • Do not use a font smaller than 12 point. Times New Roman preferred
  • Sign your full name at the end of the essay
  • If multiple pages are used place your full name in the footer of the document
  • Attach this completed application along with the essay by the due date.

Failure to meet all prescribed terms will disqualify your application. Deadline is noon May 2nd ,2023.
