Background Information | Newsflash: Epstein files are another reason flipping this seat is so important! (Jess Craven on Facebook) Indivisible National is encouraging people to support the campaign of Aftyn Behn, a current Tennessee legislator and former Indivisible staffer. Indivisible Northampton-Swing Left Western Mass is hosting phone banks and other groups are writing postcards. Summary - (Rogan’s List) We have one last chance in 2025 to send a message to Trump and narrow the GOP majority in the House. On December 2nd, voters in Tennessee’s 7th congressional district will take to the polls to fill a seat vacated by MAGA Rep. Mark Green. This seat has been gerrymandered deep red, and both Trump and Green won it by more than 20 points last fall, and it will be a steep hill for us to climb. Longtime organizer and progressive state Rep. Aftyn Behn is running a fierce, vigorous campaign while Trump’s handpicked nominee and former General Services Commissioner Matt Van Epps has avoided the public and the media, and local Democrats are highly motivated. While the official election day is December 2nd, early voting began November 12th! Who Is Aftyn Behn? (Aftyn For Congress) A self-described pissed-off social worker, Aftyn is a sitting Tennessee legislator (TN State Rep) and former Indivisible staffer. As a community organizer, she raised awareness about the closure of rural and public hospitals in Tennessee. She has helped pass federal legislation to rebuild distressed rural and small-town economies. In the Tennessee legislature, she led the fight to eliminate the state’s grocery tax and put money back in people’s pockets. And, she has a track record of winning tough fights in hostile territory, including her recent legal victory protecting your First Amendment Right. Aftyn is now running for Congress after the so-called “Big, Beautiful Bill” passed — a giveaway to the wealthy that codified the largest transfer of wealth from working people to the rich in American history. I live in MA, why should this race matter to me? Given the blue wave last week, we may be able to flip a Congressional seat in a special election in TN-07 next month. Here is why we in MA should join the effort to make that happen!
