Signing in to Student Google Account on a PC or Mac

The instructions provided here work for students all in grades. For students in younger grades, they may need the help of their parents or guardian.  If you prefer, watch a video on how to sign into Google and access Google Classroom.

Accessing the Google Apps

Students in Kindergarten to Grade 3

Students in Kindergarten to Grade 3 do not have access to Gmail. If you try to sign into their OCDSB Google account from the Gmail page, you will receive the following message:

Follow the steps below to sign in instead.

Launch Chrome and Set Up a Profile

If you are using a device that you have not signed into Google before, you will need to set up your Chrome profile on the device first. This is a one-time setup.

1. Launch Google Chrome. If you don’t have it, download Google Chrome.
   
2. Click the profile picture in the upper right corner of Chrome. (Yours will be a different image so just make sure it’s the one beside the three dots!)
   

3. Click the + Add option from the dropdown.
   
4. Select Sign in:
   
5. Type in your OCDSB email address (#1) and select Next (#2).
   
6. Enter the password for the account (#1) and select Next (#2).
   
7. A message will open, welcoming you to your profile. Click Next.
   
   
8. Select Yes, I’m in.
   
9. You are now signed into the OCDSB Google account.

Future Sign-Ins

Going forward, now you can easily sign into the Google account.  If you are using a different device, you will need to set up your Chrome profile on that device.

1. Launch Google Chrome.
2. Click on the profile picture in the upper right corner (#1) next to the three dots.
3. If your account info displays when you click on it (#2), then you’re already in!

4. If your account is NOT shown (#1), click on your account name from the list (#2).

5. If prompted, enter your email address and/or password. Now you are signed in.

Accessing the Google Apps

1. Click on the App launcher icon in the upper right corner (#1).
2. Select the app needed. In this example, we have chosen Google Classroom (#2).
