* Peer Supervision

This focus group gives us a regular place to discuss our questions and challenges as therapists working with clients in the practice of CI.  It's a space to ask for support and share ideas with one another about anything that might be coming up for you in sessions, either with clients or in your practice sessions.

What is Peer Supervision?

“Peer group supervision is intended to provide informal, reciprocal, collegial assistance with group members’ clinical and professional concerns. Conceptually, this assistance is closest to peer consultation, combined with social support (emotional, informational, and practical help, plus professional companionship).” (source)

* CI Competencies Study Group

This is a group to study the CI Competencies (find the file in each module, entitled "CI_Mod1_Competency.pdf", "CI_Mod2_Competency.pdf", etc).

Ideally you'll come to each meeting having reviewed the competencies being covered at that meeting, and knowing which you need the most growth in, together with one or a few sentences to describe your intentions or ideas for further development. We'll share in the chat by copy-pasting one competency each, then vote with thumbs up. We'll go in order based on # of thumbs up, and review as many as we've got time for. Each meeting will be recorded and the archive of videos & chat transcripts available if you miss a session or simply want to review.

Find files, more info (including competencies covered at each meeting date), archives of videos/notes/chat transcripts, and RSVP system (with automated email reminders) here:

* Compassion Corner

At the core of this format is the ability for the client to have a corrective experience of being held simultaneously by 5 attuned, compassionate others, feeling unconditionally welcomed by a group, and allowed to take up all of the space, with everyone. When you’re the client, there’s no pressure to cede the floor, this is your time, and everyone is there for you. For about 40 minutes. This is an ongoing experiment and everyone who participates is at different stages of their CI journey. Consider it akin to an expanded triad. It’s an opportunity not only for the client to have this rich experience, but also for the therapists to practise and grow their CI skills.

It's important that you read a bit more about the format before you attend, to increase safety for all in this vulnerable space. Find more info, videos of past sessions, and RSVP system (with automated email reminders) here:

Durante nuestro tiempo juntos este año, nos enfocaremos en la película de Gabor, The Wisdom of Trauma - La Sabiduría del Trauma, seguida de discusiones sobre nuestras observaciones. También compartiremos el enfoque de CI en aquellos con ideación suicida, la Atención al Suicidio en CI, y responderemos a cualquier pregunta sobre la programación de la formación profesional, la mentoria, la pasantía, además de sostener un espacio para cualquier tema que surja.

* CI and the wisdom of Pop Culture

We will discuss how pop culture is reflecting on traumas, how it appears in different creative products as movies, songs, books, and how we can learn from them and get transformed while enjoying a reading, a movie projection. Anna will offer guidance to this group to share how things can be seen and understood differently from a CI perspective (like Gabor shares lyrics and music with us). An artwork will be chosen for each meeting. The first one is with the movie: Poor Things by Yorgos Lanthimos.

Apart from being a CI practitioner, Anna Sólyom is also a writer, a devoted fiction reader and a cinephile.

This focus group explores ways to integrate the CI approach into group processes and collective healing (ie, group facilitation, conflict mediation, group therapy, rituals and ceremonies, education and workshops, restorative justice and circle processes, etc.).

What questions do you hold? What are you wanting to do but not sure you’re ready to begin? Hopefully this space will help all of us move toward more readiness, even if the best questions generate more questions than answers.

* CI Volunteers for People in Crisis

The Volunteers in Crisis Focus Group is a safe space to support those providing psychological first aid support to people in humanitarian crises (wars, terrorist attacks, natural disasters...). It is also a space for training, talks and workshops that could enhance the service provided for those in need. However, this focus group has a more profound intention in the long run. We seek to form a database of volunteers willing to offer their time for people in crises in a future service that could be provided by CI platform. At the moment, we do not have enough volunteers to go forward. If you feel the calling, you are more than welcome and needed.

CI Focus Groups can be a space to discuss your experience in doing CI with specific populations. What are the challenges that come up? What have you found to be effective? How can you take the work further?

e.g. Focus groups can include any of the following: youth, indigenous, addiction, trauma, eating disorders, prisoners, elderly, hospice, plant medicine, cancer patients, men's group, or whatever you wish, as long as it relates to CI and serves the CI Community.

Our vision is to bring together individuals with common interests or from a specific country to mature the intention, vision, strategy, timeline and considerations in using CI for a particular population group, and then to maintain a Focus Group that meets regularly online (once monthly recommended) and continues to develop and execute their vision.

Here are some steps to consider:

1. If you have a passionate commitment to a particular demographic who can benefit from CI, and would like to collaborate with others in the international CI community to discuss and design best practices, strategies, networking, a project and/or research to work with this population, please make this known in the CI forum, FaceFook page and tell your peers about it.

2. Once there are 3 or more people interested in participating in a particular Focus Group, create a meeting time once monthly (or more) and let Sahiba, our Focus Group Coordinator, know about your intention.

Consider developing the following:

1) An intention/vision/goal for the group. What is the result you would like to co-create, applying the CI approach with this demographic? How might this connect to the international CI Community?

2) A structure for the meetings, including a facilitator/leader (which could rotate or not) to generate the discussion, and a person to record in writing, organise and distribute minutes if you decide to have minutes. Decide whether these tasks will be fixed, or will rotate monthly. Create the structure that is most suitable for delivering your intention/vision/goal. Consider starting each session with a grounding and ending with a closing ritual/practice.

3) Develop a strategy and timeline to execute your intention/vision/goal and/or to create a welcoming space for sharing. What are the steps required? Who will you need to contact? Will CI Practitioners require further specialty training? What organisations will you approach? How will you network with others? If funding is required, how will you secure it?

4) Once your Focus Group is stable, we will do what we can to help it along if needed.

5) Keep Sahiba informed of your meeting times and progress by the 27th of each month so that the information can be shared in the newsletter if needed
