About the Orchard | Very special orchard, long south facing parcel, sloping south, in places steeply. Trees are standards, 60 years old +. Soil is variable: heavy clay at the bottom of the hill, deep loam in the upper 2/3 of the orchard. Very well drained on the whole. Sugar levels from here are always better than elsewhere |
Vintage Conditions & Harvest | 2018 was very hot, lots of sun. Sugar levels were high, though crops were too. Fruit was harvested throughout the autumn as it ripened and blended as we went along. Yeast nutrient levels were low so we ended up with plenty of residual sugar in the bottle |
