OBITUARY FOR DR. CARLOS V. HARO
February 14, 1945 – August 14, 2020
Dr. Carlos Haro, 75, of Los Angeles, California passed away on August 14th with Myelofibrosis. He died at City of Hope after a stem cell marrow transplant from his brother, Luis Haro who traveled from Peru for the procedure.
Carlos was born on February 14, 1945 to his parents Carlos Haro and Clara Wong in Trujillo, Peru. His family later moved to Lima, Peru where he graduated from High School at Colegio of Guadalupe. He went on to study medicine at San Marcos University from which he graduated in 1972. He married the love of his life Luz Haro in 1973 and they moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he began his training in Internal Medicine at St. Luke’s Hospital. He worked at St. Luke’s from 1974 – 1977. During this time he and Luz had two daughters, Lucy and Gladys. Dr. Haro completed his third year of Internal Medicine at Veteran’s Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Afterward the family returned to St. Louis where Dr. Haro completed a Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at St. Louis University Hospital from 1978 – 1980.
In 1981 Dr. Haro moved to Los Angeles where he joined the medical group “Critical Care Associates'' after he was offered a position by Dr. Oscar Zambrano. He worked with Critical Care Associates at the following hospitals: Good Samaritan Hospital, Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital, Queen of Angels Hospital, White Memorial Medical Center, Monterey Park Hospital, and East Los Angeles Doctor’s Hospital.
Dr. Haro had his third daughter, Angelica Haro in Los Angeles.
When Critical Care Associates medical group formally dissolved, Dr. Haro opened his private practice in East Los Angeles where he worked for the last 29 years.
Carlos is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years Luz Haro, his three daughters Lucy, Gladys, and Angelica, and his two grandchildren Daniel and Ava who Gladys shares with her husband Mario Casillas. He is also survived by 6 siblings.
