Blueggs Newsletter JANUARY 2020

We had a spell of warm weather in Southwest Indiana during the month of December 2019. Santa Claus could even wear short sleeves to this area, and the Paoli Peaks were forced to shut down for several weeks.

According to the National Weather Service, a low-pressure weather system broke off from the polar jet, and the polar jet ended up too far north and the subtropical jet ended up too far south to bring in new low pressure systems to the Midwest. As a result, the Midwest had a high pressure and southerly winds, which gave us clear skies, dry conditions, and mild temperatures.

2020 WARRICK COUNTY SCHOOL SUPPLY RECYCLING CHALLENGE

Blueggs is hosting the second annual "2020 Warrick County School Supply Recycling Challenge" on May 21, 2020.  In the challenge, school children are encouraged to recycle their used school supplies with the aim of helping children in need, reducing waste, and building a stronger community. The collected school supplies will be cleaned / sorted and donated to children in need in Warrick County, in partnership with God is Good Foundation, and also donated to local teacher. We will also make crayon products by recycling used crayons, in partnership with Newburgh HealthCare Center and ACCESS Academy, and sell these products to local customers and businesses such as Just 4 Kids Pediatric Dentistry and GeraldEnlowFamily Dentistry to raise money for local teachers to support their educational spending.

Please visit our youtube page [https://youtu.be/Ov3AFdEVlQM]

and watch our 2-minute video on it to learn more about this program.

We are now looking for local businesses who could contribute $300 (Gold Sponsorship), $200 (Silver) or $100 (Bronze) for our efforts. We will need $4,000 to conduct this program.  Your donation will be used to buy supplies for school supply recycling and crayon making, buy prizes for children after the event, manage/support volunteers and temporary employees, host several reach-out events, and cover administrative expenses. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit-charitable organization, and your donation will be considered tax deductible expenses.

QUIZ ABOUT JAPAN

CHONMAGE is made by shaving the middle of the head all the way until halfway to the back of the crown. The remaining hair is oiled and tied into a ponytail, the end of which is placed at the back of the head in a topknot.

Samurai wore helmets (Kabuto) in battle, and it was reported that they suffered from severe scalp itch or irritation when wearing their helmets. The chonmage haircut was born as one of the solutions to stop helmet itch.  In later years, chonmage became a status symbol among Japanese society, and only men of high rank and status were allowed to wear the chonmage.

ANSWER: TO STOP HELMET ITCH
