Day 1 - Friday, September 20th, 2024

Event 1: Conan’s Wheel

Athlete must carry the Conan's Wheel, on their forearms or in the crook of their elbows, for the longest distance possible without dropping.

Athlete may approach the Conan's Wheel when the go-ahead is given by the judge or expeditor. Competitor then gets into position. The judge will give a start command, at which time athlete has 30 seconds to pick up the implement and start walking. Distance will be marked when the implement touches the ground on both the front and back (incidental contact on just the front or back is OK). Athlete has unlimited time to carry it, but once it's dropped, they can't repick to carry it further.

Athlete must carry the Conan’s Wheel in the clockwise direction - with the center of the implement to your right.

Bar Position Requirements:

Score will be the distance implement is carried.

There will be a 5 foot "Mercy" area. If the implement is dropped within the Mercy area, the athlete can re-pick it up within the original 30 seconds. Otherwise, the drop location will mark the distance.

Athlete will be able to choose their pick height before the start. Limited pick height options will be available.

Belt buckle must be in the back. No more than one neoprene or elastic belt and one hard or webbing belt (webbing belts are like the Cerberus Deadlift Belt or Spud Belt). The belt may not be purposefully loose to create a shelf, and the elbows may not be tucked into the belt.

Tiebreaker - Sandbag Battle

In the event of a tie for a podium spot, there will be a head-to-head sandbag battle.

If there is a tie for an Arnold spot, both athletes will get an Arnold invite.

Tied athletes will load a sandbag, back and forth over a bar (48” high for men, 44” high for women) until one athlete is unable to load the bar over in 30 seconds.

A countback will be used to decide who goes first. Athlete with a better result via countback goes last. Countback priority order is total first place finishes, sole first place finishes, total second place finishes, etc. If countback is 100% equal, order will be based on last event.

Athlete load the bag over the bar, back and forth, until one cannot load the bag within 30 seconds of when it hits the ground.

Athletes must adjust the bags themselves, volunteers will not move the bags between loads.

If more than two athletes are tied, the event is the same, the athletes will be switching sides to load in order.
