Walter Joseph Postula, JD ‘73

Walter Joseph Postula, Esq., died peacefully at home in Fort Myers, FL on July 2, 2018. He was born on June 8, 1947, in Detroit, MI to Walter and Hedwig Postula.  His educational history included a bachelor’s degree from Marquette University and a law degree from the University of Miami. He worked for the Department of Justice for 13 years, rising to become the head of the U.S. Attorney Office in Orlando, and later an attorney in private practice. During retirement, he devoted his time to pro bono legal cases, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed modernizing old Florida homes. We loved him for his generous heart and sense of humor; we will all miss him greatly.

Walter is survived by Theodore and Lindsey Postula, his son and daughter-in-law, and Adam Joseph Postula, his cherished grandson, of Houston, TX; Catharina Eeltink, his former wife, of Orlando, FL; Susan and Salvatore Chiaramida M.D., his sister and brother-in-law of Charleston, SC; his sister Cynthia Postula, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and two nephews, Todd Joseph Chiaramida of Sharon, MA and Tory Andrew Chiaramida of New York, NY.

A private family viewing and memorial service was held on July 5, 2018 at Gendron Funeral & Cremation Services in Fort Myers. His ashes will be placed off the coast of Sanibel Island, one of his favorite places. The family is grateful for condolences but declines flowers – donations can be made in Walter’s honor to Meals on Wheels in Hobe Sound, FL.
