L'immersion française est un programme bien établi et bien réussi à l’école secondaire Kelvin. On vise à offrir à tous nos apprenants de diverses occasions à s’épanouir et à enrichir leur vie à l’école secondaire.
Ce programme fournit aux jeunes un bon choix de cours en français (et une grande variété d’activités parascolaires-restrictions de covid) pour améliorer leur compréhension de la langue et la culture française. De plus, nous voulons que nos apprenants soient fiers de leur bilinguisme et qu’ils valorisent leur apprentissage comme un outil de développement personnel, intellectuel et social.

French Immersion is a highly successful approach to language learning. Kelvin High School’s French Immersion program provides students with opportunities to reach their potential and strive for excellence while further developing their learning of the French language.
We offer a large range of French courses (as well as a wide variety of extra-curricular activities - covid restrictions this year) in order to enhance the students` understanding of the French language and culture. We want our students to be proud of their bilingualism and to value this learning as an important component of their personal, social and intellectual development. The French Immersion program offers all compulsory high school courses, thus, enabling our students to obtain the 15 French Immersion credits for their diploma.

Pour notre entraînement et l’évaluation orale…
In 2010, école secondaire Kelvin French Immersion teachers decided that our collective goal was to promote oral literacy in our classrooms. We developed an evaluation tool to assess the students’ French language proficiency. The intent of this evaluation was to create a consciousness in our students and to provide them with a baseline to set goals for themselves as they develop their identity as a bilingual learner.
- The grade 12 students have an interview session with two immersion teachers where students demonstrate conversation skills on topics of their choice.
- The grade 11 students participate in a round table discussion with peers.
- The grade 10 evaluation is based on a reading passage and a discussion of general ideas and opinions.
We are excited to see the students’ growth over the past decade at Kelvin. We will be reworking our approach and strategies for the 2020/2021 school year depending on our access to the building and scheduling possibilities.
