The We Make Tomorrow Campaign Map is a key feature of our global campaign. Its purpose is to visually represent and demonstrate the breadth and impact of culture-led climate solutions worldwide. By showcasing these initiatives, the map serves as a powerful advocacy tool, contributing to our Global Call for governments and policymakers to place culture at the heart of climate action.

The data displayed on this map is sourced from two main channels:

1. Direct contributions from individuals and organisations who sign our Global Call and provide explicit consent to have their details published.
2. Information collected from publicly available online resources, specifically from website URLs provided by users through our online signature form, using automated AI tools.

This policy provides specific details about how data for the map is collected, used, managed, and how you can exercise control over your information displayed on it. It supplements our main Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, which you should also review.

2. How Data for the Map is Collected

Data for the We Make Tomorrow Campaign Map is collected through the following methods:

2.1. Data Submitted Directly by Users: When you sign the Global Call on our website, you are given the option to consent to the public display of your name (as an individual) or your organisation's name on the campaign map. If you provide this explicit consent, the name you submit, along with the website links you provide, will be added to the map.

2.2. Data Collected via AI Tools from Publicly Available Online Resources: To enhance the comprehensive representation of culture-led climate solutions on our map, we utilise AI tools developed by our partner, The Convergence, to analyse and collect publicly available information only from website URLs that you provide to us through our online signature form. We do not autonomously scrape the broader internet for this purpose.

What our AI tools look for and collect:

• Organisational Information: Names of organizations, cultural institutions, artistic collectives, heritage bodies, or creative businesses involved in climate action.
• Project/Initiative Details: Publicly described projects, initiatives, or programs that demonstrate a link between culture and climate solutions (e.g., regenerative design projects, artivism campaigns, traditional knowledge preservation initiatives, sustainable fashion endeavors).
• Geographical Location: Publicly listed locations (e.g., city, country) associated with the organizations or initiatives.
• Website URLs: Links to the primary websites or relevant project pages where this information is publicly accessible.

How the AI tools operate:

• Our AI tools primarily target publicly available, non-personal organisational data. While we strive to avoid collecting personal data, some publicly listed personal information (e.g., individual names on an "About Us" page if they are publicly presented) may be collected incidentally.
• Any website URL you provide during your sign-up process may be visited and analysed by our AI tools for publicly available information relevant to culture-led climate action.
• We endeavor to respect robots.txt files and website terms of service where feasible and applicable to automated crawling. However, due to the vast and dynamic nature of the internet, we cannot guarantee adherence to every specific term of service for every individual website our AI may encounter.

Purpose of AI Data Collection: The data collected via AI tools is used to:

• Identify and feature additional culture-led climate initiatives on the map, broadening its scope and impact.
• Develop a robust, evidence-based portfolio that demonstrates the diverse ways culture contributes to climate solutions, for advocacy purposes.
• Support our internal research and analysis to identify trends and gaps in global cultural climate action.

Lawful Basis for AI Data Collection: Our use of AI tools to collect and process publicly available information is based on our Legitimate Interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Our legitimate interest is to build a comprehensive and compelling global representation of cultural climate action, which is fundamental to achieving the We Make Tomorrow campaign's mission of influencing policy and demonstrating the power of culture in climate solutions. We have conducted an assessment to ensure this processing is necessary and does not unduly infringe on the rights and freedoms of individuals.

3. Data Displayed on the Map and Its Use

The map displays visual markers representing cultural climate initiatives. Clicking on a marker typically reveals:

• The name of the organisation or initiative.
• A brief description of their culture-led climate solution (summarized from submitted or publicly scraped data).
• A link to their website (if provided or publicly available).
• Their general geographical location.

All data presented on the map, whether user-submitted or AI-scraped, contributes to the overall evidence base used in campaign reports, presentations, and communications to policymakers and the public.

4. Your Rights and Editorial Process for Map Data

We are committed to maintaining the accuracy and relevance of the data on our map and providing you with control over your information.

4.1. Requesting Edits or Deletions: If you are an individual or represent an organisation displayed on the We Make Tomorrow Campaign Map, you have the right to request:

• Correction/Update: If any information displayed about you or your organisation is inaccurate or outdated.
• Deletion/Removal: If you wish for your or your organisation's entry to be removed from the map entirely.

To request an edit or deletion, please contact us at report@wemaketomorrow.global.  Please provide the specific name and, if possible, the website URL as it appears on the map, to help us quickly locate your entry.

4.2. Our Editorial Process: All data displayed on the map, whether user-submitted or AI-scraped, undergoes an editorial review process by the We Make Tomorrow team (facilitated by JuliesBicycle).

• Response to Requests: We aim to respond to all requests for edits or deletions within 7 business days and action verified requests promptly.
• Quality Assurance: The map data is subject to ongoing quality review to ensure its accuracy, relevance, and the appropriate display of information.

4.3. Right to Object to AI Scraping: Under GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data when it is based on our legitimate interests. If you believe your publicly available personal data has been incidentally collected by our AI tools and displayed on the map, and you object to this processing, please contact us using the email provided above.

5. Data Security and Retention for Map Data

• Your data for the map is stored on secure, password-protected servers managed by The Convergence within Germany.
• Data displayed on the map (both user-submitted and AI-scraped) is retained for the duration of the We Make Tomorrow campaign, and for a period of up to 5 years for archival and reporting purposes, unless you request its deletion sooner.
