THE HUB IN-HOUSE RESOURCE GUIDEBOOK
This document provides an overview of all the resources available for public use at RUMAH’s community space in downtown Raleigh NC, The Hub. Please use the Table of Contents panel on the left side of this document to navigate between sections. If you do not see the panel, click the outline icon in the upper left corner of this document (three dots and lines in a column).
The Hub is located at 415 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh NC. Remember: these are shared resources, so please treat each tool and piece of equipment with respect. All tools and equipment must remain in the space. All guests must clean up after themselves as this is a shared community space. If utilizing a resource during an event, please be respectful and keep any potential disruptions to a minimum.

LIBRARY
- The Hub houses a free radical library featuring a broad range of topics from gender theory to natural sciences and banned books. All books in our library have been generously donated or purchased from small-scale vendors.
- THE RUMAH LIBRARY IS CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION, check back soon!

- We are currently not accepting: children's books, damaged books, incomplete book series, fiction books, or religious texts.
TOOLS & TECHNOLOGY
COMPUTER & INTERNET ACCESS
- There is a Mac desktop computer available for public use in the main area. Computer access is free and first-come, first-serve, available during Open Hours or any public event. Check The Hub calendar here.
- The Hub has free WiFi available to the public throughout the space:

- HP LaserJet 1536dnf MFP black & white printer available for use. This printer can print one or two sided (printer paper only), fax, and scan. Printer access is first-come, first-serve, and available during Open Hours or any public event. Check The Hub calendar here.
- Low-volume printing is free, but donations are always encouraged!
- 1-30 pages: free, suggested donation $2
- More than 30 pages: suggested donation $2-5
- 100 pages or more: please reach out to us ahead of time to ensure we have supplies! Suggested donation $5-10
- Suggested donation amounts based on RUMAH’s average cost per page: $0.05
- Toner & printer paper donations are welcome too!
- HP OfficeJetPro 7740 full color inkjet printer available for use. This printer can print one or two sided (printer paper only), fax, scan, and make copies. Printer access is first-come, first-serve, and available during Open Hours or any public event. Check The Hub calendar here.
- Low-volume printing is free, but donations are always encouraged!
- 1-30 pages: free, suggested donation $3
- 30-50 pages: suggested donation $4-10
- Max is 50 pages, no bulk printing on the color printer.
- Suggested donation amounts based on RUMAH’s average cost per page: $0.10
- Ink (952XL CMYK cartridges) & printer paper donations are welcome too!
- RUMAH has access to a ROLAND VersaCAMM SP-300V vinyl printer, cutter, and laminator. While only trained volunteers are permitted to operate the vinyl printer, anyone is welcome to submit a request for printing. Please find more details about what we can offer, how to place an order, and donation tiers below.

- What we can print:
- We can accommodate prints of about an inch up to 28 inches
- In addition to vinyl stickers, we can print images on calendered paper
- We ask that people try to make a donation to cover the cost of printing
- For unlaminated vinyl stickers we suggest $0.50/sticker up to 6” x 6”
- For laminated vinyl stickers we suggest $0.75/sticker up to 6” x 6”
- There is a 1.75” button maker available for public use. Button maker access is free and first-come, first-serve, available during Open Hours or certain public events. Check The Hub calendar here and email us to find a time to use the button maker at contact.rumah@gmail.com
- RUMAH keeps a small supply of button-making materials in the space. If you would like to utilize the supplies we have available, here are some suggested donation amounts to help offset costs incurred by RUMAH:
- Less than 20 buttons: suggested donation $3-5
- 20-40 buttons: suggested donation $6-10
- More than 40 buttons: suggested donation of 15 cents per button

- Here is a link on how to use the machine!
- Please Note: if you are hoping to make large amounts of buttons, you may want to purchase your own supplies instead of depleting the community supply at RUMAH. Here is a link to pinback button sets in the correct 1.75” size.
- Please Also Note: you will need to prepare your button designs in the correct size.
- Here is a template to use to create your button designs. For printing designs at The Hub, see PRINTING. The Hub has one correctly sized paper hole punch and scissors available to trim down your printed button designs.
- You are also welcome to create your designs by hand as well! RUMAH has paper and craft supplies for use available at The Hub.
- There is a 15 x 15 inch, XACTO brand guillotine paper cutter available for public use. Guillotine paper cutter access is free and first-come, first-serve, available during Open Hours or public events. Check The Hub calendar here.
- This tool is for cutting paper only. Please refrain from cutting large stacks (more than 2-3 pages of plain paper or more than 1 page of thicker paper at once) as this will damage the blade and reduce the lifespan of the cutter.
- This is a sharp object. Use with caution.
- There is a zine stapler available for public use. Zine stapler access is free and first-come, first-serve, available during Open Hours or public events. Check The Hub calendar here.
- There is a Martin Yale 1611 bulk paper-folding machine available for public use in the Media Lab. Paper folding machine access is free and first-come, first-serve, available during Open Hours or public events. Check The Hub calendar here.
- This machine can fold 8.5x11” paper, 8.5x14” paper, or A4 size paper. There are 5 different folding styles available.
OTHER RESOURCES
- RUMAH maintains a Zine Library at The Hub, which is stocked with a variety of zines including how-to’s, zines by local artists, informational and educational zines, zines covering national and international topics, & more. The Zine Library is completely free and available to browse during Open Hours or public events. Check The Hub calendar here.
- To submit a zine to the Zine Library: Drop off copies during Open Hours or a public event, or email us a print-ready file at contact.rumah@gmail.com.
- Please Note: RUMAH reserves the right to not display a zine if it goes against our values or community guidelines.
- RUMAH maintains a Seed Library at The Hub, which is stocked with a variety of seeds, such as produce and native plants. The Seed Library is available to browse during Open Hours or public events. Check The Hub calendar here.
- To submit seeds to the Seed Library: Drop off seeds during Open Hours or a public event. Please Note: Seeds must be donated clean in a bag or package (opened and partially used is fine!). Please do not donate dirty seeds, we do not have the manpower to process them ourselves.
HERBAL STATION: COMPASSION ACCESS PROJECT
- Compassion Access Project maintains a free self-serve Herbal Station at The Hub, which is stocked with a variety of herbal supplements based on availability. The Herbal Station is available to browse during Open Hours or public events. Check The Hub calendar here.
- Compassion Access Project stocks several self-serve herbal stations throughout the Triangle NC area. To learn more, find other stations, and donate to CAP, click here.
- RUMAH keeps a selection of other free resources available to the public at The Hub - this selection is dependent on current availability. Resources are available to browse during Open Hours or public events. Check The Hub calendar here.
- Items stocked at The Hub: Naloxone, pregnancy tests, contraceptives (condoms, dental dams, emergency contraceptives), COVID tests, masks, snacks, water bottles, and other items based on availability.
- RUMAH keeps a selection of free craft supplies available to the public at The Hub - this selection is dependent on current availability. Craft Supplies are available for use during Open Hours or public events. Check The Hub calendar here.
- Craft Supplies stocked at The Hub: yarn, fabric scraps, magazines and scrap paper for collaging, glue, tape, printing ink, acrylic paint, & more depending on availability. Craft Supplies may be taken out of the space.
- Crafting Tools stocked at The Hub: scissors, hot glue gun (mini), printmaking tools & stamps, bookbinding supplies, paint brushes, pens, pencils, markers, highlighters, sharpies, & more depending on availability. Reusable and shared Crafting Tools must remain in the space for community use.

EVENT SUPPLIES
- The Hub is a community space for community use. If you are interested in hosting a meeting, lecture, skillshare, performance, or other type of event at The Hub, submit a request using our Space Use Request Form.
- The Hub is available for use at a pay-what-you-can rate, with no one being turned away for lack of funds. More details on this are listed in the Space Use Request Form.
- Please Note: The Space Use Request Form contains detailed information about the space. Please read the form completely before completing a request.
AVAILABLE ITEMS FOR EVENT USE
- RUMAH offers a variety of equipment, furniture, and supplies to help make your event a success! In addition to the other items listed in this guide, here is a list of available items for event use - for questions (or if you have items to donate), please send an email to contact.rumah@gmail.com.
- Harbinger M200-BT PA System and mini sound board, 2 speakers, can connect via bluetooth & aux cord
- Tabletop podium with microphone attachment
- One Yamaha EMX640 powered mixer with 1 monitor wedge and 2 speakers on stands
- Epson LCD projector, model: HA85A, can connect with HDMI, USB, USB-c, & bluetooth
- Please Note: There is NO oven or stove! Food being served should be pre-prepared!
- Refrigerator & Freezer, limited space, please clean out items after your event!
- Microwave, 2 hotplates, basic serving dishes and utensils, small dishwasher
- 3 person couch, 2 person couch, 40 chairs, 8 swivel chairs, 8 rolling stools
- 4 black top 6x2ft tables with wheels, 1 large conference table, 5 various smaller tables available upon request
- One 165 quart cooler
- 3 large clothing racks with wheels
- 1 large dolly
- 6 ft step ladder
- Basic tools (hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, level, ruler, etc.)
- Basic cleaning supplies (wipes, sprays, vacuum, etc.)
- Dry erase boards, various sizes
- Miscellaneous event supplies (nametags, extension cords, work lights, large trash can, recycling bin)
