Camp Daleview 2022 COVID-19 Protocols

  1. Promoting vaccination:
  1. Camp Daleview will strongly recommend that all campers receive a COVID-19 vaccination.
  2. Camp Daleview will not require proof of vaccination; however, it will be an optional question to answer included in the camper health form.
  1. Correct mask use
  1. All campers will be required to wear masks while inside of the pool locker room
  2. Masks are optional outside
  3. Masks may not be worn in a pool for safety reasons
  1. Screening/testing
  1. All campers will be required to take a COVID-19 test the Sunday before camp and update their results through Camp Daleview’s online system. If a family does not have access to a COVID-19 test, they must inform Camp directors one week prior to the first day of camp and camp directors can assist in obtaining a test. Rapid COVID-19 tests are available for free at libraries and community centers in Maryland.
  1. Campers must affirm that they have a negative test by Sunday evening before camp. This will be checked by means of an online form that will be automatically emailed to each camper’s contact person on Sunday morning. Parents will sign a form in the health packet agreeing to full honesty.
  1. Campers and counselors will be screened for symptoms and possible exposure of COVID-19 each morning at camp using questions recommended by the CDC. This will include taking their temperature with a contactless thermometer. Camp DV encourages parents to complete a screening prior to taking their child to camp. If a camper has a symptom of COVID-19, they will not be allowed to come to camp unless providing proof of a negative test.
  1. Camp Daleview will utilize a log similar to the one provided by Montgomery County Department of Health (https://health.maryland.gov/phpa/OEHFP/CHS/Documents/COVID%20Documents/Daily%20Health%20Screening%20Log.docx.pdf)
  1. Maximize hand washing and sanitation
  1. Campers will be required to either wash their hands or utilize hand sanitizer at designated times:
  1. When they first arrive at camp (10 AM), before lunch (11:45), after lunch (12:30),  and before and after every time they eat a snack.
  2. Camp Daleview will provide hand sanitizer and camp counselors will remind campers at each time.
  1. Designated camp space
  1. Camp Daleview will purchase a canopy tent that will provide a designated camp space for campers to convene in the shade.
  1. Staying home when appropriate
  1. All campers and staff members will be asked to not come to camp if they have any COVID-19 related symptoms.
  2. All parents must be aware that if camp screening determines that a camper may not be at camp, they will be asked to isolate at the pool until a guardian/designated emergency contact can pick them up.
  3. If a camper or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, they must follow the current CDC recommendations for quarantine time and may not return to camp until it is clear to leave quarantine.
  1. Sanitation
  1. All campers will be required to bring their own water bottle to camp with their name clearly labeled. Campers may not share water bottles.
  1. Camp Daleview will have a camp water cooler for campers to fill their water bottles.
  1. All campers must bring a packed lunch with an ice-pack or items that will not spoil in the heat. All parents will be aware and consent that campers will not be able to utilize the pool fridge to store their lunches.
  2. Camp Daleview will wipe down tables or surfaces with disinfectant wipes before and after camper use.
  3. Discourage sharing objects: Campers should not share food, beverages, masks, goggles and other items that would allow for potential exposure of another camper’s saliva.
  1. Lunch COVID-19 policy
  1. Campers will eat on the grass on top of a spread-out towel. Each camper will have their own towel, ensuring a distance of at least 3 feet between campers while eating.
  2. Campers may sit at the picnic tables, but must sit 3 feet apart from each other.
  1. Clear camp hours
  1. Camp will only run from the hours of 10am – 4pm. Camp DV will not provide an official aftercare. Camp parents must pick their children up by 4:05 or have pre-arrangements that they have clearly communicated to camp staff unless contacting head counselor in the case of an emergency
  2. Camp counselors' hours will be 9:30 - 4:30. This gives counselors half an hour to make sure everything is clean and safe before and after camp.
  3. Camp DV employees will not be responsible for ensuring campers follow Camp Daleview COVID-19 procedures before 10am or after 4pm.
  1. Transparency
  1. Camp Daleview will be transparent and share with all camp families if a camper is exposed to someone with COVID-19 during Camp hours.
  2. Camp Daleview will follow current CDC regulations to determine what the next steps must be taken.
