Gu Kueh // Storage Instructions 📦

If consuming the Gu Kuehs the day after collection, you can opt to put it in an oven with the lights on with minimum 60°C, providing a warm environment to prevent bacterial growth!

The Gu Kuehs should be placed in our current box (which is airtight) or into an airtight container for better storage, and to prevent skin from drying out in the fridge.

Fridge: 1 Week MAX*

Freezer: 2 Weeks MAX

*For flavours containing coconut, please consume within 3 to 5 days or ensure the fridge is < 5°C to prevent the fresh coconut from turning rancid easily.

For reheating instructions, please view the table below

Steamer / Steam Oven / Wok Steaming

*medium heat/fire

For Softer Gu Kueh Skin (easier for elderly to eat)

Place Gu Kuehs in a preheated steamer for 1-2 mins or until the skin softens.

Do not over steam this as the r.t.p Gu Kuehs should be soft to consume, this is just to heat it up slightly.

Place Gu Kuehs in a preheated steamer* for 4-5 mins or until the skin softens.

*please monitor at the 5 minute mark. If the steamer is very strong, the skin may melt.

Place Gu Kuehs in a preheated steamer* with rolling boil for 7-8 mins or until the skin softens fully.

*please monitor at the 8 minute mark. If the steamer is very strong, the skin may melt.

Microwave

For chewier Gu Kueh Skin (doesn’t stick to the teeth)

Place Gu Kuehs in a microwave with a cup of hot water at medium heat for 1-2 mins or until the skin softens (do a small poke test!).

*please monitor at the 2 minute mark. If the microwave power is too strong, the skin may melt.

Place Gu Kuehs in a microwave with a cup of hot water at medium heat for 2-3 mins or until the skin softens. (do a small poke test!).

*please monitor at the 3 minute mark. If the microwave power is too strong, the skin may melt.

Let the Gu Kuehs defrost for at least 5 mins or until no visible frost. The Gu Kuehs will not turn soft.

Microwave with a cup of hot water at medium heat for 5-7 mins or until the skin softens. (do a small poke test!).

*please monitor at the 5 minute mark. If the microwave power is too strong, the skin may melt.

Notes:

  • Please allow the Gu Kuehs to cool slightly before consuming. The lines on the Gu Kueh will be crisper after cooling, and the vibrancy colours will be less muted.
  • There might be a stronger Sweet Potato* fragrance when it is hot out of the steamer. *depending on your sensitivity
  • It is normal for the banana leaves to look more ‘curled up’ after reheating (it is more obvious for the steaming method than microwave)
  • For Gu Kueh flavours that contain Beetroot, the skin may be slightly duller after reheating.
  • If you plan to store it again after reheating, the oil layer on the skin may ‘come off’ due to the second steaming, thus, brush it with another layer of neutral oil (e.g sunflower oil/canola/vegetable oil to prevent the sticking between Gu Kuehs

Muah Chees

Note: Our MUAH CHEES are best eaten within the day / within 8 hours upon arrival

Muah Chees // Reheating Instructions ♨️

DIY SET📦

A. boiling water in a wok, put the diy muah chee (in the sousvide bag) ontop of a wire rack and cover. steam till muahchee turns soft to touch (3-5 min if left in room temp for >16H | 15 min if left in fridge | 30 min if left in the freezer)

B: put DIY muahchee onto a pot of boiling water, let it ‘warm up’ for approx 10-15 min or until soft.

* DO NOT EXCEED 2 HOURS OF STEAMING

PREMIXED SET 🥣

Microwaving it on high for a 30s, or until warm to the touch.

As the nut will absorb the moisture causing it to dry out fast, so please consume within the time range for the best texture :))

Flavour will not be compromised but texture will feel abit more QQ/chewy and appearance will look abit wet as the nut has absorbed the moisture from the muah chee.

Orh Nees

Thank you for supporting our Shallot Oil Orh Nees! ✨

Orh Nee // Storage Instructions 📦

Once received, please keep in the fridge as it is best served chilled.

Our orh nees can be kept in the fridge for up to 1 week and in the 1 month in the freezer

Orh Nee // Reheating Instructions ♨️

Reheating (ONLY FOR 200ML SIZE – do not use this method for mini sizes) (not required but if you want to consume it warm):

Remove the plastic cap and steam the orh nee cups on low heat (approx 10mins in steamer).

The plastic caps are not heat safe, the plastic cups however are ok to reheat up to 130deg

Reheating (FOR 100ML SIZE) (not required but if you want to consume it warm):

Remove the orh nee from the cup and place it on a ceramic bowl, microwave for 1 min on high

Notes:

🥥🍠🎃 - flavours should be consumed ASAP especially if kept in fridge as these have high moisture content and could spoil easily (if the fridge is not cold enough)

Gingko Lovers - the brown tint on the gingkos are from soaking the gingko in brown sugar syrup! (Do not worry 💕)

Shallot Lovers - as the shallots absorb moisture, it’ll slowly lose its crispiness as the day passes, thus, it may look slightly soggy, but it still tastes good nonetheless!
