        Holy God,
        we hear echoes of your Wisdom in the teachings of Jesus
        who leads us to abundant life.
        Keep us alert to the call to follow you
        and ready to respond with justice and joy.
        We live in this holy moment of life and love. Amen.

*Opening Hymn:                 Called as Partners in Christ’s Service                              BEECHER

1 Called as partners in Christ's service,
called to ministries of grace,
we respond with deep commitment
fresh new lines of faith to trace.
May we learn the art of sharing,
side by side and friend with friend,
equal partners in our caring
to fulfil God's chosen end.

2 Christ's example, Christ's inspiring,
Christ's clear call to work and worth,
let us follow, never faltering,
reconciling folk on earth.
Men and women, richer, poorer
all God's people, young and old,
blending human skills together
gracious gifts from God unfold.

3 Thus new patterns for Christ's mission,
in a small or global sense,
help us bear each other's burdens,
breaking down each wall or fence.
Words of comfort, words of vision,
words of challenge, said with care,
bring new power and strength for action,
make us colleagues free and fair.

4 So God grant us for tomorrow
ways to order human life
that surround each person's sorrow
with a calm that conquers strife.
Make us partners in our living,
our compassion to increase,
messengers of faith,

thus giving hope and confidence and peace.

Offering Music:                        O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee                             MARYTON

O Master, let me walk with Thee
in lowly paths of service free;
tell me Thy secret;

help me bear the strain of toil,

the fret of care.

*Prayer of Dedication of Gifts and Self (Unison)

God of amazing abundance,

we dedicate our gifts of time and talent

and commission our pledges to you

so you may take, bless, and multiply them
and generously bless your work in the world.
In Jesus’ name we commit our lives to you. Amen.

Offerings may be placed in the white collection bin behind the last center pew as you leave service today, mailed in or donated online.

Scripture Background

Scripture Lesson:                              Matthew 25:1-13 (NRSV)

“Then the kingdom of heaven will be like this. Ten bridesmaids took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. When the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them; but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, all of them became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Look! Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those bridesmaids got up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise replied, ‘No! there will not be enough for you and for us; you had better go to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy it, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went with him into the wedding banquet; and the door was shut. Later the other bridesmaids came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I do not know you.’ Keep awake therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

1 This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine,
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine;
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine,
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

3 Jesus gave it to me,
I'm gonna let it shine,
Jesus gave it to me,
I'm gonna let it shine;
Jesus gave it to me,
I'm gonna let it shine,
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

2 Ev'rywhere I go,
I'm gonna let it shine,
Ev'rywhere I go,
I'm gonna let it shine;
Ev'rywhere I go,
I'm gonna let it shine,
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
