Hi, __name__?
Hi __
, this is ______. I was just getting back to you in regards to the form you submitted for more information on the trucker life insurance options. You were just looking to leave a policy behind for your beneficiary correct?

Now, were you looking for something specific or just wanting to look over all of your options?

Okay perfect so just to give you a little bit of background on myself and what we do here, We are a life insurance brokerage that works exclusively with truckers to educate you all on the options available. We represent every A rated carrier in the state so that gives us the ability to find the cheapest coverage for you based on your age, health and habits.

Now was this a situation where you wanted to supplement the current coverage you have or do you not have any at all?

Send quick text with full name and license number.

IF THEY HAVE COVERAGE:

Okay, and do you know roughly how much coverage you currently have?

Usually, when truckers look for extra coverage, it's just to leave more behind for their family or loved ones. Who would you want to make sure is taken care of?

Alright, so just to confirm—you want to add more on top of what you already have to make sure [Name of beneficiary] doesn’t have to worry about any final expenses?

IF THEY DON’T HAVE COVERAGE:  Totally understand. Would this mainly be to cover funeral costs and final expenses, or are you looking to leave something more substantial behind for legacy or mortgage protection?

Perfect, and if something were to happen to you god forbid tomorrow, who is in charge of taking care of everything financially when you pass, what's their name?

Okay and do you plan on being cremated or buried?

Do you know how much burials and cremations are costing today? Let them answer.

Burials and cremations can range from 10k-20k just depending on the type of arrangements your family decides to go with so we will make sure we factor that into your coverage.

Any outstanding debts that you would like covered? Let them answer if no move on if yes ask how much

QUALIFYING QUESTIONS

Alright now I am going to go over some brief medical questions and that will let me know what policies you will actually qualify for okay?

  • I’ve got your age as ___ — is that right?
  • And can you confirm your date of birth for me?
  • Are you a smoker or non-smoker?
  • Any ongoing medical conditions or prescriptions?
  • Any history of heart attack, stroke, cancer, or diabetes?
  • High blood pressure or high cholesterol?
  • Kidney/liver disease or thyroid issues?
  • Asthma, COPD, or arthritis?
  • Any anxiety, depression, or bipolar medications?
  • Any major surgeries or hospital stays in the last 5 years?
  • What’s your current height and weight?

OCCUPATION / INCOME

Are you still driving full time, or have you retired from trucking?

  • (Retired): Got it—do you have some retirement or Social Security coming in? Roughly how much per month? Just ballpark is fine.
  • (Still working): What kind of trucking do you do—long haul, local, or something else?
How long have you been doing that?
  • And how much do you bring home monthly?
  • Are you the main breadwinner in the family?
  • God forbid something were to happen to you and this coverage wasn't in place would it put your family in a tough spot financially? Okay got it

Only ask if they are healthy: Now were you looking for something permanent or term?

Term vs Whole life: “So you can think of term as renting insurance so lets say you had a term policy for 20 years if you don't pass away in the next 20 years the coverage will expire and you will be left securing whole life coverage at a later age resulting in higher premiums. Term is great for covering large debts such as mortgages just to make sure the state doesn't take the home away from your family if you were to pass while still making mortgage payments. Only 2% of term policies actually pay out because most people do outlive them. Term is technically cheaper than whole life but again if you outlive the term policy you will have to get whole life at a later age. Now whole life is exactly how it sounds; it lasts you your whole life and never expires. You get more benefits such as cash value, living benefits, etc which i will go more into detail on if you think that route is best for you. I always recommend whole life because again you will never have to worry about securing coverage again and it will never be cheaper than it is today. So which one sounds best for you?

Alright, perfect let me put you on a quick hold while I check your options across the board and see who is coming back at the best rate of approval and best rate over all.
(Give 10-15 seconds, then return with 3 policy tiers.)

  • Alright (CLIENT NAME), are you still with me? Now, the company that came recommended for you is called (CARRIER), so go ahead and write that down if you have a pen and paper handy. We went with them for a couple different reasons. First reason being that they are A+ rated with the AM’s Best. It’s really important to go with large, dependable companies that have been around for a long time with an A+ rating when it comes to your life insurance just so your (beneficiary) isn't waiting months on end to receive that death benefit their turn around times are super quick usually within 48-72 hours after filing the claim.
  • On top of that, they offer what is called a simplified issue policy. This means that the insurance company will offer you this coverage with no medical exams- so no blood work, urine samples, saliva swabs, anything like that. They will simply pull your prescriptions through the medical information bureau to verify your health that way. This is one of the only companies that will offer this amount of coverage with no medical exams.

You will also be offered a level premium meaning the price you pay monthly will never change on you as long as you keep the policy active. They will grandfather you in every month at the same age and health class you got approved for. Another amazing feature about (CARRIER) is that they offer full living benefits meaning if you were to be diagnosed with a critical chronic or terminal illness you can tap into 90% of the death benefit to compensate for medical bills or income loss. Does that make sense?

  • Perfect one thing I forgot to mention is that this is also immediate coverage meaning as soon as you start a policy you are covered so let’s say you got a policy today and god forbid something happened to you next week your family will get that full death benefit that you choose.
  • So what I looked at for you is a (term/whole life) plan. This is what most people in your situation go with.
  • (TERM) is because it’ll give you the highest amount of coverage for the cheapest rate. Term life insurance provides coverage for a set period, like 10, 20, or 30 years, and pays a death benefit only if you pass away during that time—usually it is cheaper bc it does expire at the end of the day but it is good for temporary needs like covering a mortgage or income replacement.
  • (WHOLE LIFE) is because the coverage will never expire on you. It is always recommended that you have permanent coverage that way you don’t ever have to worry about securing coverage again. The policy also accumulates a cash value over time of around 3-5% per year. This means that eventually there will be enough cash value to where the policy will pay for itself and you can stop making payments and still have the coverage for life. Does that make sense?
  • IUL: “So this is an index universal life policy. it is essentially a whole life plan at preferred ratings, these policies are only for our very healthy individuals as yourself that is how we get these preferred ratings. This includes all the benefits I described before except you will get a cash value accumulation at an 8-12% rate A YEAR this is higher than any high yields saving account you can pull from this cash value tax and stipulation free after 4 years. I can show you what the cash value will look like for you once we decide which numbers make the most sense for you.
  • Okay, if you have a pen and paper handy you can write these numbers down. I'm going to go over three options with you. Go ahead and write down Gold, Silver and bronze.

OPTIONS (Custom Tailored)

Gold Option – This one offers the highest amount of coverage. It’s not necessarily what I recommend for most truckers, but I’m required to show it to you.
That’s $____ per month for $______ in coverage.

Silver Option – This is the most popular for people in your situation. It balances affordability with solid coverage.
That’s $____ per month for $______ in coverage.

Bronze Option – This is your starter plan, just to get your foot in the door and lock in your current age and health.
That’s $____ per month for $______ in coverage.

  • Now, like I said before- Unfortunately, I don’t make any final decisions, the insurance company is going to do that. So we still have to submit your request for coverage to see if you can actually qualify for these plans, but if you ARE able to qualify, would you want to leave your family with gold, silver or bronze option?
  • If they say they don't know or want to think about: “Okay no worries so the carrier has to think about you as well. We just want to make sure this is even an option on the table for you because if you don't get approved we will have to look at other options. So we can start with the bronze option and then if you decide to add or decrease coverage we can always do that, again we just want to make sure you will even be approved. But I would like to ask were you wanting to think about the coverage amount and premium itself or are you confused on the coverage itself?

  • Ok, I’ll try my best to get you approved. The request only takes about 5 minutes or so, and you will NOT be charged anything today, what the carrier is going to do is check your prescription history by matching your social to your medical information bureau records and make sure everything you have told me today matches, then we will go through some medical questions,  then we will see about a final approval so i’m going to pull that up now. Go ahead and spell your full legal name for me please. Perfect. Go into completing the App.
  • When asking for social security number:
  • So these policies do not require any medical exams, they’re going to verify your health based off your prescriptions to approve you. So next we are going to check your prescription history to verify your health, but before I do that, is there anything else that we haven’t gone over that you were maybe prescribed but don’t take anymore that might show up when we check your prescriptions? Pause for answer. OK and i know its a silly question but i am legally obligated to ask, are you a US citizen? Pause for answer. OK and go ahead and verify your social for the prescription check.
  • If they object:  “ Ok so in order for any insurance company to approve you for the coverage, they have to verify your health and they do that by running your social through the Medical Information Bureau and pulling your prescription records. So go ahead with your social whenever you’re ready.
  • When asking for banking: “So the way this works is if this gets approved today, you won’t be charged anything. The first payment typically comes out within 3 to 5 business days and then every month after. Is there any reason you would not want this policy to be in effect immediately?” Pause for answer. If not, get a payment date that works and reassure them you can get them approved today and nothing will come out until that date.
  •  “Ok, who do you currently bank with?... I’m going to check and see if we are partnered with them” Google the routing number for their bank
  • “Okay sir/mam, I just put “name of bank” into my system and it looks like we’re partnered with them, it’s giving me a routing number. I’m going to read off the routing number for your bank, go ahead and grab a check or find some way to verify this as I read it off to you and let me know when you’re ready. Ok I have your routing number showing as XXXXXXXXXXXXX”, is that correct? Pause for answer.
  • “And would you like to use a checking or savings account for this?” Pause for answer.
  • Okay, and now go ahead with the account number that you want to use for this
  • If they object:  “Hey I absolutely understand your hesitation – now the insurance company needs a complete application to underwrite a policy which means having banking information on file. They need this for two reasons:
  1. To make sure there’s no insurance fraud going on by matching the name on the account to your social, and..
  2. Ensuring you have a valid US bank account because non residents actually can’t get insurance in the US.
