Metrobuses will be picking up residents and taking them to the opened shelters  from 7:00 am to 10 p.m. It has yet to be determined until what time tomorrow buses will stop picking residents.

On Friday, Sept. 8, Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover services will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Miami-Dade Transit Parking Garages

Miami-Dade County transit parking garages opened at noon Thursday, Sept. 7. They may be used as an area of refuge for personal automobiles. However, Miami-Dade County will not be responsible for any damage, vandalism and/or theft to vehicles or their contents while parked in our facilities. Availability of spaces will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parking garages that are open:

  • Earlington Heights -  2100 NW 41 Street (at capacity)
  • Okeechobee - 2005 West Okeechobee Road (at capacity)
  • Dadeland North 8300 South Dixie Highway (at capacity)
  • Dadeland South 9150 Dadeland Boulevard (at capacity)
  • South Miami 5949 Sunset Drive (at capacity)

Only credit card transactions for the Corporate Discount Program processed through the Transit Store website will not be available. EASY Card ticket vending machines and sales outlets will continue to process credit card transactions.

Miami-Dade Bus Route Updates

Miami-Dade Metro Bus Route 302 Card Sound Express service will be discontinued until further notice. Route 301 Dade-Monroe Express continues to provide service.  


  • Governor and County Mayor issued State of Emergency
  • ALL tolls have been lifted
  • FPL warns of potential ‘prolonged outages.’ Download FPL mobile app for account access and for latest information on outages.
  • Trash & Recycling:
  • Bulky waste pile scheduling has been suspended. Solid Waste Management will continue to work to service previously-scheduled bulky waste piles. Residents are urged to refrain from placing any new material on the right-of-way for collection.
  • Trash and Recycling Centers have extended hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Friday, Sept. 8.
  • Curbside garbage and recycling services will continue to be provided as scheduled on Thursday, Sept. 7 and Friday, Sept. 8.
  • Please secure your green waste carts and blue recycling carts inside a garage or utility room once they have been serviced so the carts do not become flying debris during the storm.
  • City of Miami will provide services until Thursday. Municipal residents not served by Miami-Dade County should contact their respective waste service providers for service updates and information related to the storm.



Government Offices:

  • Miami-Dade County  and City of Miami offices are closed.
  • Miami-Dade County libraries are be closed.
  • Parks are closed.
  • Pet and Adoption Protection Center closed.
  • Museums are closed.


  • Miami-Dade County public schools are closed Monday, Sept. 11. Extracurricular activities and athletic games have also been cancelled.


Jackson Health System will be in a state of emergency beginning on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 7 a.m.

  • Our current impacted operations are as follow:
  • All patient appointments at Ambulatory Care Centers (ACC) East, ACC West, and all primary care centers have been cancelled for today.
  • The ACC West pharmacy will remain open to the public until 3 p.m. today and then support hospital operations only.
  • UHealth Jackson Urgent Care Centers will close at 3 p.m. today.
  • All other Jackson facilities are operating normally today.
  • Our emergency rooms are always open.
  • Jackson Medical Group (JMG) offices will be operating normally through Friday.

Please note that during the Jackson emergency period, parking garages at the Jackson Memorial Medical Center may only be used by patients, their visitors, members of the During Team and other employees who have been directed to shelter at Jackson. To ensure sufficient parking, all other cars may be towed when the Jackson emergency period begins.


  • The airport is not a designated shelter during a storm, and operational needs at MIA may require occupants to be evacuated to nearby shelters. The MIA garages are at capacity. Parking at MIA is only available to ticketed passengers and authorized employees. All others will be turned away.
  • PortMiami is currently open for business.

Jail Visitation:

The Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department has suspended inmate visitation at all facilities effective Friday, Sept. 8, until further notice
