BACKGROUND: Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee is a leading, non-sectarian, non-profit organization providing emergency relief, protection, rehabilitation assistance, resettlement services, and advocacy for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. Domestically, our 29 offices across the U.S. ensure that new arrivals have food, shelter and clothing, and work with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency.
SCOPE OF WORK: The front desk is the face of the IRC. Volunteers in this role greet and direct all walk-ins and phone calls to appropriate staff members. Front desk volunteers have a large amount of client interaction while learning about the various programs of IRC Missoula. The best fit for this position is someone who is personable, patient, flexible, and a problem solver. Our staff is busy, which means we are not always accessible to those who walk-in or call-in, so front desk volunteers are crucial to providing a friendly space to ensure people feel welcome. Training is provided in-person before and during your first shift. On-site support is also available.
