• Pear Deck: This plug-in works fantastically with Google Slides (and PPT although I haven’t tried it). It is an awesome way to engage students both in student self-paced mode or to project your slides to their devices while you lecture remotely (with some valuable “check in” tools). Pear Deck is offering a 90-day premium trial if your school is impacted by closures.
• Zoom is temporarily lifting the 40-minute time limit on free Basic accounts for schools affected by the Coronavirus. Here’s how to get access for your school. - Videoconferencing

• If you go into the advanced settings, you can do breakout groups!
• Also, there is a phone app - might be useful for students without laptops - and there is also a PHONE option where students can use a regular phone to call into a class!

• Seesaw: Digital portfolio sharing
• Remind: Communication and file sharing tool - can work via text for students who may have texting but lack laptops - you can have conversations but also send out assignments attached to the text

• Screencastify: Record what’s on your screen/lectures to share. 5 minute limit per video for free option for teachers. Although according to this tweet, they may be willing to work with schools facing closure.

Social Studies Curricular Specific Resources:

• New Visions has resources for US history and World History.
• “SHEG resources could be posted online for students to review. I post the essential question as a Question on Classroom, and then post the resources. I have students answer the essential question creating a claim and supporting that claim with evidence from the resources. This has resources for both World History and US History.”
