  Introduction

Death note: God of the New World and  Light Yagami FN emerged as a fan fiction created on a subreddit, similar to CTW Light and CTW L. He is a non-canon character, but the reason for his creation can be interpreted as an alternate version of the classic manga/anime "Death Note," being an alternate timeline where the events happen almost the same as in the original version, but with the difference that in this timeline, Light is more intelligent and cunning than in the original version, giving an almost impossible battle against an L (L in this fan fiction has the same base intelligence level as his canonical version).

Death Note : God of the New World

Chapter 1: “Boredom”

  In the world shinigami:

?-”same old thing, day of the day… what a bore…”

Amidst the throngs of people walking through the city streets, a young man watches screens plastered on buildings summarizing the news from Japan. One commentator is talking about a 3% year-over-year increase in murders per capita, and that robberies have risen by an alarming 8%, dropping Japan out of the top 10 safest countries in the world. Another screen shows a reporter commenting on the brutal murder and rape of a young woman whose body was found buried and covered in cement. The autopsy revealed that the girl was drugged by unknown assailants, attacked, and stabbed 17 times in the chest. While the journalist continued narrating this macabre crime, the voice of another journalist could be heard narrating an assault crime where a 14-year-old boy did not resist or struggle against the attempted robbery, but the attacker hit him with a gun butt and a bullet came out of the blow, the criminal got on his motorcycle calmly and with impunity while the boy fell and died from a gunshot wound to the head.

The young man sighed, frowning, clutching the apple in his hand, as the deafening news echoed in his head. Taking a bite, he spat out the apple; it was rotten…

Young man- Every day, the same news repeats itself: murders, disappearances, rapes, missing persons, death, anguish, helplessness, fear... this world is... rotten.

In the Shinigami world:

Two beings are seen playing a kind of dice game with skulls.

Shinigami a- Haha, I won again, I have a 6-point lead

Shinigami b- Hey Ryuk, why don't you join us? It's boring losing to this fool. Why don't you play for a change?

Ryuk(The shinigami who said that every day was just as boring)with a profoundly empty look he replied: No, thanks, I'll pass, I have to go get something…

Shinigami a:Come on, don't be a chicken, how convenient that you just happen to lose something, what did you drop?

Ryuk: I dropped my death note..

Shinigami b: Oops, where did you leave it, man? This world's too small to lose it. The old man's going to be really mad. I heard he lent you another Death Note.

Ryuk-I've left it in the human world…

Shinigamis a/b- WHATS…?

Ryuk leaves the Shinigami world and opens a portal to descend to the human world, searching for the new wielder of the Death Note.

The notebook is dropped near a university courtyard; a teenager looks out the window, observing with surprise…The young man is 17 years old, his name is Light Yagami, a prodigy student at Toho University. Upon finding the notebook, he notices that it is written in English, "Death Note" or “デスノート”in Japanese.

Upon reading the rules of the Death Note, he drops the notebook on the floor.

-"Killing a person just by writing their name" sounds as stupid as those online threats where if you don't share a certain post with 10 people, a family member will die... as if anyone would want to test this notebook…

He looks at it curiously, then picks it up again and hides it in his backpack.

Upon arriving home with the notebook again, feeling uneasy, he decided to read the first few pages. They contained instructions or rules, far too detailed to be just a joke…

Light thinks: Wait, if I write someone's name and they die, will I be a murderer? Pfft, yeah right, in what country would I be arrested for that? It doesn't even make sense... Let's see, what's on the news? First of all, I need to think before I do this. No celebrities. It has to be someone everyone will forget the first day, a complete stranger. No relationship or apparent personal reason to kill them. But I also need to know immediately what's going on... mmm, well?! Why am I overthinking this? I'm sure I'll end up disappointed…Light turns on his TV and flips through the channels until he finds a live broadcast.

A kidnapper has locked a teacher and six kindergarten students inside a daycare center. A 42-year-old man, Otoharada Kurou, who was previously accused of child abuse at the same daycare, is suspected. Police are asking people to stay outside the perimeter, and it is understood that the suspect is armed and is using the victims as hostages.

Light writes: "Otoharada Kurou dies by shooting himself in the head." Light looks at his digital watch. After finishing writing, the time is 6:23 PM. After a minute passes and nothing happens, Light sighs. "Well, what was I waiting for, for something to happen? I must be really bored... At least this notebook is aesthetically pleasing, and it's empty! Maybe if I change the cover, it'll be my new notebook for taking notes…”

Just as he was about to turn off the TV, he hears a gunshot, and also the word "Urgent" in the program's titles as the commentator runs to see what's happening, as far as they let him go. Meanwhile, the hostages are seen escaping. Light returns to his seat while watching the broadcast. Commentator: It seems the hostages are getting out safely. Did he change his mind and release them?! Wait! The police squad is coming in. Light is searching for the suspect in the crowd. The police come out, while the typical crowd of journalists surrounds them like crows. Commentator: We have urgent news. The police have confirmed they found the suspect dead when they entered. Dead?! Light jumps, swallowing hard, trying to believe what's happening isn't real... Commentator: The police inform us that no shots were fired, but they found the suspect dead with a gunshot wound to the temple, caused by his own weapon. The hostages said the kidnapper was threatening them, and then out of nowhere, he signed up the gun at his head and committed suicide in front of them.

Suicide... by a gunshot to the temple... I couldn't believe it, it must be a coincidence, maybe because of the pressure of being cornered, no... the witnesses say it was out of nowhere... I must... try... once isn't enough... as Light's mind clouded over, he heard his mother's voice calling him for dinner. Light answered in a tense voice that he would be down to eat.

Upon leaving his house, using the excuse he gave his mother of going to buy snacks and energy drinks to continue studying, Light anxiously considers using the Death Note a second time, but this time checking in detail and with his own eyes whether the Death Note works or if the first death was a coincidence.

A group of motorcyclists surround and harass a girl. The leader introduces himself as "Shibumaru Takuo." The henchmen grab the girl and tear off her clothes. As the girl screams desperately for help inside the store, who was hearing and seeing the whole scene, Light writes: "Shibumaru Takuo, death by traffic accident, run over by a truck in the middle of the road." In the entry, he writes the name seven times with different pronunciations according to the Japanese kanji. Forty seconds pass, and the scene exactly as described occurs: the harassing motorcyclist dies in the crash. Amidst the shock and horror, the girl takes advantage of the situation and escapes from the thugs, while Light watches in astonishment, confirming, in turn, the veracity of the Death Note…

Light walks holding onto the wall as he trembles, reflecting that he has killed two people.

Light - I killed two people. One deserved it, this one did too, but technically his crime wasn't a death sentence. Besides, who am I? Why should I get to decide who lives and who dies? This notebook is driving me crazy... Light gathers his strength and, while looking at the notebook, organizes his thoughts... - No, the notebook doesn't control me, I do. It was my decision, and you know what? It was the right one. A sexual harasser will eventually escalate to becoming a serial rapist, and without evidence, without witnesses, or because the victims are afraid to report it for fear of retaliation, out of shame, they won't report it, it will go unpunished. If I hadn't done something, they would have raped her. But... I'm not a hero, I'm not a vigilante like Batman. I've already crossed the line of killing the bad guys. Even so, what does it mean to be a hero? To save lives? Or be merciful to the villain... the same cycle repeats itself, bad people don't change, even if you catch them, they'll never change, they'll be worse. My future? To be a detective. What's the point? To rack my brain trying to solve crimes where the criminal isn't a victim of society, but someone evil who kills or commits sick atrocities for pleasure. And the worst part is, I only do half the job. At the trial, they'll surely get a mediocre sentence and walk free, with good lawyers.

Five days pass, and Light continues writing names incessantly, seemingly obsessed. One stormy night, as he continues writing, a strange voice speaks: "Looks like you're enjoying this." Light turns and sees a dark being about eight feet tall staring at him. Reflexively, he falls out of his chair. The monster reveals himself as Ryuk, a Shinigami, or god of death. He says that the notebook Light is using now belongs to him, but since it fell into the human world, it now belongs to Light. Light gets up, tenaciously looking at Ryuk, says: "Ah... so you came. I was startled by your appearance and by taking me for granted, but to be honest, I knew you'd come, Ryuk”.

When Ryuk appears, Light is not scared but mentally prepared. He deduces that a powerful object like the Death Note must imply the existence of a supernatural entity (a Shinigami) accompanying it.

Ryuk claims he didn't choose Light and just dropped the notebook. Light deduces this is a lie because the instructions written in the book are clearly intended for a human user, not just Shinigamis, But later think: The book is written in English, which means it's intended for anyone on Earth to pick up and use, since English is a universal language. This was shown in the anime. Following this reasoning, it means the users could be anyone, which proves Ryuk right, since if it were meant for me, it would be written in Japanese….Is correct for the part While the Death Note is obviously also for humans, the truth is that it actually fell to Earth by chance, not by fate..even after hearing that Light won't go to heaven or hell and when he die Ryuk will be the one to write his name Light is still capable of laughing like it was nothing.

Light analyzes the "User Manual" of the Death Note. The instructions are in english (human language) and tailored to human limitations. If the book was for Shinigami, it wouldn't be written for humans. It is written too for humans. Therefore, it was intended for a human. This shows he does not take information at face value, even from a god.

In Russia, at a maximum-security prison, guards reported a total of 36 victims, most of them prisoners convicted of murder and rape, many of them recently incarcerated. This phenomenon isn't limited to just one prison; it's occurring in several prisons across the country. For no apparent reason, all the prisoners began dying of heart attacks. A director of the main prison in Moscow raised the alarm and presented the case to the Russian government, reporting the mysterious deaths of 348 confirmed heart attacks: 100 in St. Petersburg, 73 in Omsk, and the alarmingly growing number in the capital, Moscow. "It's not illness or poisoning," the director informed the Russian Ministry of Security. "It could be something more sinister."

- Lyon, France, interpol headquarters (27 days after the Mysterious murders in Russia)

Representatives from Interpol member countries are meeting to discuss this alarming case, which has already registered a total of 1,759 victims: 807 in Russia, 22 in Turkey, 72 in Kazakhstan, 339 in Ukraine, 42 in Iran, and 477 in the United States. The members are debating whether the deaths are caused by a virus or biological weapon, or if it's the work of a serial killer. Regardless, the majority is convinced that the killer or weapon is of Russian origin, based on the patterns of the deaths. However, there is no proof to support either theory. The autopsies reveal no traces of viruses or poisoning, nor any marks or cuts indicating foul play. All the autopsies indicate the same thing: myocardial infarction. But the case is so strange: half of the victims are under 35, and 70% have no record or history of heart failure. Why are they dying? Some suspect it's a silent weapon invented by some country's intelligence service. Members are even pointing the finger at suspects like the KGB or the CIA, sparking arguments and reaching a stalemate. Without any further explanation, it seems like an impossible case... except perhaps for one mysterious being. that He would be able to solve this case, impossible for the ordinary human mind, a genius detective, with the capacity to be as efficient as 8 forensic agencies working together... concentrated in a single person, that person, who calls himself "L”.

   Strategy: False Profile and Geoprofiling

Ryuk is surprised by the number of deaths Light has carried out in just a few days. If he kills so many, he could be discovered. Light denies this. After testing the notebook with the kidnapper (the first death in the anime, differing here as he shoots himself instead of a heart attack) and the motorcyclist (same death as anime), killing them in different ways and playing with details and times, he told Ryuk that he created a stratagem to avoid being discovered. This consists of several steps that fulfill different objectives: from the third death onwards, all deaths will only be from heart attacks, purposely creating an identity pattern. The deaths will follow a logic; he will not kill people in his country for now. First, he will choose a big country and start eliminating criminals starting from a not-so-well-known city until escalating to its capital, and then to other countries. It must be a country with a large time difference, so while he is in class or sleeping, the deaths will continue in greater volume.

With the Death Note, one can manipulate the day and time of deaths. With this in mind, he decides to create a non-existent individual, someone who does not exist, but who kills criminals. He is from that country because the heart attack deaths start there. Ryuk asks why he is making it so complex. Light replies: "Because I am anticipating the reaction of organizations like Interpol or the UN before they investigate. Alarms will surely ring when deaths exceed 100 and happen in different jails, ruling out the idea of a virus or poisoning. Besides, I know well how detectives and police institutions think. I know what proof to hide and which to show. The strategy is not based on hiding myself, but showing myself to the world from a false location. There are deaths, no clues. It is very unlikely they will get close to the notebook or know how the hell they die, because detectives have a logical and rigid mind. Besides, assuming the most competent and experienced pursue me, all the better. Less openness and creativity. 5 years of career, more than 10 of experience, and most don't come out of the average intellect. They will get stuck. I know that will generate frustration and uncertainty for them, then a situation of vulnerability and stress adding the pressure of the media, and the massive support of the people, because yes, they are criminals who are dying. It could be said that the police would be hindering a divine purge. When they see the magnitude of the problem, I will give them an ultimatum: either let me do my job, or they will also be my enemies."

...

False Profile Strategy: Light builds a strategy designed to avoid capture. He begins writing names with death times adjusted to a European time zone, specifically Russia. He selects a specific city and begins eliminating criminals according to a time zone that does not coincide with his school hours or local region. He aligns with European activity patterns. Besides, he chose Russia because he knows that being such an extensive country, it has 11 time zones to vary. To reinforce this illusion and make it plausible for Interpol to suspect Kira is Russian, he extends the murders like a virus: first within a lower-middle-class city (not extreme poverty as it would not justify a brilliant killer due to the food-environment-education correlation), then deaths expand to other Russian cities, then to Moscow, and later to neighboring countries whose political tensions and cultural conflicts fit a stereotypical Russian psychological profile. The logic seems consistent with an anonymous vigilante motive, followed by criminals from culturally adjacent regions like Turkey, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and others.

All victims die of heart attacks. This serves two purposes: it speeds up the writing process and establishes a clear, recognizable pattern, signaling to the world that a single "judge" is eliminating criminals. To Light, evil is defined as a combination of maladaptive traits that shape a person's thinking and behavior. A thief who steals and kills is not a victim of society in his view, but someone acting out of inherent malice. The same logic applies to abusers, murderers, and similar offenders. He creates a geostrategic profile with a supposed distinct location. Death times relate to late afternoon or outside Russian working hours, but simultaneously within Light's night hours or class hours. A student creates a false perception that Kira is actually a Russian killing after finishing his workday. The first and second deaths of Light were in Japan, but unlike canon, he is conscious and kills them by suicide and accidents. The heart attack pattern begins with this strategy from his third death onwards.

Chapter 2: L

After Interpol reached a dead end, they decided to contact L, a private detective known as the "Sherlock Holmes" of the 21st century... a brilliant mind who only solves cases that interest him; luckily, this is one of those cases…

Matsuda, a junior officer at the side of the deputy chief and representative of the Japanese National Police, asks the deputy chief who L is. Deputy Chief Soichiro Yagami replies: "We could call him a detective, although no one knows his name or what he looks like, but he has already solved cases that the rest of the world considered impossible. L is like our last card, the Joker that is only used for the most complex crimes.

Soichiro turns forward, seeing the same thing as the other representative members: a mysterious man passing towards the center, wearing a black mask, and dressed in an elegant uniform and a detective's hat. A man in disguise with a laptop appears, opens the computer, and displays an image of an "L." A robotic voice says: "Interpol, greetings, I am L." This case is extremely complex and unusual, projected onto a global scale. We are no longer talking about a murderer, but a "Super Killer" with the unknown ability to kill without being seen by anyone, without being present before the victims, killing from a distance. This case has already been taken as something paranormal, something that defies all logic. Therefore, out-of-the-box thinking was used to move forward and prepare a trap for this killer, if indeed he is a killer, and this, if he is human…

Meanwhile, Light is seen walking calmly, chatting with his colleagues. His colleagues are amazed but also frightened by this new killer, whom they now call "Kira," a name given to him by the Russians. Now everyone calls him that, making him a public and media figure. Light just listens and laughs, returning home. He settles in and continues his work of eliminating criminals. Ryuk asks him why he works so hard. In total, he already has more than 6,692 deaths with the Death Note, an impressive sum for at least three months of using the notebook. Light doesn't answer, absorbed in his art of eliminating monsters in real life.

But when he turns on the news to watch the daily broadcast of new local criminals, who can now even kill criminals from Japan, the channel suffers interference... a mysterious man appears, his name is Lind L. Taylor, he says he's giving a new report from Interpol to the whole world, the man speaks in British English, while the local Japanese translator translates: "I am Lind L. Taylor, also known as 'L', I am the only man capable of facing a new threat that terrorizes the nations of the world... that threat is called 'Kira'." Light stares intently at this man, while L continues...

-I will catch the culprit of this carnage without stopping. The world is not as big as it seems, Kira. You won't be able to hide forever. If you feel untouchable, you will never truly be, because I will follow your every step until your last step is under the cell where you will be for life.

Light laughs and says-"Are you an idiot?! How are you going to catch me? They don't even know where I am, much less how I eliminate criminals. This notebook is literally the only evidence that can convict me, and I could burn it, tear it up, hide it anywhere in the world, and still, who would convict me for a notebook? Are you stupid?”

On a whim, Light decides to write the name L. Death will be by cardiac arrest. Forty seconds pass... and L collapses, dying live on air. L didn't last long... Light laughs, but suddenly, as the agents grab the dying man, a robotic voice sounds: "Incredible, I've cleared up my doubt, Kira. You can do it without even touching people..." What?! Light is stunned, his face pale.

Listen, Kira, if you just killed Lind L. Taylor, whom you were watching on your television a few moments ago, you should know that the man you just killed was actually a death row inmate who hadn't yet been imprisoned,That wasn't me...This criminal wasn't even announced as captured, and he's been kept hidden from the public through the police on my orders. I'm sure you didn't know about him, right? There's some information that's hard for you to get hold of.

   But I am L and I exist!

Now try to kill me! Come on, can't you?

Light- this guy…

It seems you can't kill me... so there are people you can and can't kill, that information is valuable to me. Oh, and the cherry on top, the trap I set for you wasn't a global transmission, but a national one, no, more like a regional one. You see, since your exact location wasn't known, the first few months obviously pointed to you living in Russia, but this approach was very dangerous. What if you have the ability to kill remotely, and not kill in other countries, and thus appear as if you're from there? That strategy is impressive. All the agents and detectives in the world, with only one line of thought at a time, fell into your elaborate trap. Thanks to this, I now know I'm playing against someone with my same intellectual level, so I'm serious. From the beginning, I thought about formulating multiple hypotheses, thinking outside the box, based on the idea that you could actually be a genius trying to deceive the entire world. You could be from any country, sure, but based on patterns, like the countries you chose, the rigid structure that gives clues about your line of thinking, you are a person with strong strategic and systematic thinking. That kind of profile increased the credibility of you being Russian, a cold country with cold-minded people, known for their Machiavellian strategists. You really thought this through.but the truth is, even if you didn't make mistakes, like a perfect machine, you do have flaws. You just proved to me that you're human and not a god. I played with your ego, and I won. This trap was designed to be broadcast in different parts of the world, with times linked to the Russian time zone, during the hours when murders are most active, possibly leading to you. In total, 50 unknown prisoners were used to play the role of "L" in the capital and metropolis of the countries with the greatest potential where you were located, from Moscow to Buenos Aires. In the end, it wasn't Tokyo, but the Kanto region. You live in Kanto, Japan. Lind L. Taylor was prepared to be the "fake L" in this region, so now, I've found you... and I intend to go there and arrest you... And so begins an epic mental duel between the world's smartest detective and the world's most cunning criminal.

  Chapter 3 - Family

After the encounter, Light rests in his room, somewhat exhausted from knowing he's being pursued by the whole world. Suddenly, the doorknob turns; it's Light's sister, Sayu…

Sayu-I need your help with my homework!

Light has no choice but to open the door for her, but he puts his chair against his desk on the drawer side, preventing her from seeing or touching his notebook.

Sayu-I'm studying linear functions now! I don't understand anything.

Okay, listen, Sayu, a linear function... first, you have to question everything. It's not just about memorizing and copying. You have to ask yourself why you're using linear functions and what they're for. Look, let me explain: "A linear function is a straight line defined by Y. What is Y? It's a letter used as an unknown, like X, a, or b. It doesn't have a defined value, but these letters are used to represent it. For example, I have a number: 6, but you don't know what number it is, so you call it (X). Well, in a linear function, it's the same; that's why they're used. Y = mx + b. What does that mean? The m is the slope. What is the slope? It can be used for (inclination/direction), and b is the y-intercept, or the starting point. If m>0, it goes up; if <0, it goes down. When graphing, you must place b on the Y-axis; you must use m to move vertically/horizontally.”

Now I'll give you a couple of exercises. I want you to complete them. See you later, Sayu. -Bye Light, thanks to my little nerd brother.

Meanwhile, in the void room,  L thinks... "Why didn't Kira kill me? Is it because I'm not a criminal, and therefore it has no effect? Is that the only reason criminals die? No, he didn't know about Lind L Taylor; he was trying to kill me. If that's what he wanted, it's because he has the capacity to kill anyone. Criminals are simply his targets…”

Japanese police headquarters special anti-Kira squad

An agent reports the latest murders: Agent - From now on, the majority are concentrated in Japan and the USA, but there are still some deaths in other European countries. The report is based on estimates from the last 24 hours: 68% of the deaths occurred between 8 AM and 5 PM local Japanese time, which is similar to the Japanese workday. After that time, the deaths drop to less than 3 per day, with minimal activity on weekends, which doesn't help us much…

At 8 pm, the squad's deputy chief, Soichiro Yagami, retires and goes home for dinner. When he takes off his shoes, his son greets him; his son is Light Yagami..

  Chapter 4: electric current

Create a Trap to Hide Death Note

Light deduces: I only arrested when I confessed or they found the notebook. And when ordinary people touch the notebook, they will be able to see Ryuk. The god of death is always beside Light, so Light needs to create a place to hide the notebook. The notebook is in a very visible desk drawer; when you open the drawer, you will see a diary.

Light thinks: Most people, when they read this daily diary, will be satisfied because they think they have discovered the secret of the drawer.

But in fact, the real key is in the ballpoint pen. Even if it's left on the table, no one will notice. Underneath the card compartment containing the Death Note, there is a small hole; you can't see it if you don't look closely. Poke the pen through that hole, the top board will be pushed up to reveal another bottom surface containing the notebook. When there is a diary as a front, people will not think of having another notebook lying underneath. And yet, even if someone realized that this desk drawer had two bottoms and suspected there was a notebook at the bottom, they couldn't touch it. The Death Note rests on a nylon bag of gasoline, around which is a rectangular closed circuit. If a ballpoint pen was not inserted between the two metal plates to prevent current from flowing, the closed circuit would ignite and ignite the gasoline in the thin nylon bag. Then the book will burn. And when the top bottom is closed, the rubber piece located below the top bottom will become an insulator between the two metal plates, causing the circuit to open. That is, if not opened properly, but upside down the drawer, or deliberately pull the bottom plate up, the book will immediately burn up; the evidence will completely disappear.

Since the thing to be hidden is like a notebook, if asked why it was burned, just answer "because I don't want anyone to read my real diary." A practical and logical reason.

Walking through a fair…

Ryuk asks: "Hey Light, can I ask you something?" "Go ahead, tell me." "You're using the case information through your father's PC, who's the deputy chief of the Japanese police, right? That way you can always stay one step ahead of them." "Exactly. Whenever I can access my father's PC, I can see their progress and all the details. By creating a fake website, a VPN server, and sending a link to my father's server, a virus I designed myself gets in. This virus is invisible and allows cloning and access to files, as long as in my father PC i grants permission from his PC with 'wkaly.com wants permission to access your files, images, and videos. Accept?'' After clicking 'OK' myself, I close and delete the page. From my own PC, using a cracker, I can create a mirror of my father's computer. The cracker I designed has up to seven different IP addresses so I can't be detected.”

Ryuk - But why have you given him clues that Kira is involved with the police? Aren't you supposed to hide your identity? That's interesting, Ryuk, but it seems you still don't understand the human mind and how it works: L will never find me as long as he has the Death Note and can erase his existence or render him useless as evidence, but if he gets clues that Kira is within the police themselves, what will happen? He'll isolate himself and become paranoid. From the beginning, L and the police are suspicious of each other, and why wouldn't they be? A masked man who doesn't show his face and is in a privileged position while giving orders to police officers who risk dying at Kira's hands—then when clues that I'm using investigation resources through data leaks surface, L will be the first to know, and he'll start investigating the police themselves. He might even need foreign allies.

 3 days later...

Serial Killer Investigation Bureau: 20 members are lining up to resign from the Kira case; they fear for their lives and want to withdraw from it.

They think: we're not like L, we have lives outside, families, what will happen if we continue with the case? If they mess with us, with our wives or children, all they have to do is investigate and they'll kill us one by one. We want to withdraw from this case, we have too much to lose…

Elsewhere…

FBI Command Center - Washington DC

A bald American man is on the phone... L's voice is heard speaking: - Yes, that's right... I want you to investigate the members of the Japanese police in charge of the Kira case. American man: L, are you sure Kira is involved with them? L- Yes! It's almost certain. We already have some of the information from the investigation. Kira has stolen a total of 2,368 US Víctims. He is already considered by many to be the biggest serial killer in history. This is a highly publicized case here... L- Okay, I understand. That's why I need the FBI's cooperation in this. - Okay, just don't tarnish the FBI's credibility. I'll send 12 available agents. Good luck. L- Thank you. I'll keep you updated on the investigation.

L - Watari, the FBI has already started on the matter and they've given me the list of the 12 agents working on this case. Watari (creator of Wammy House and L's mentor) - Yes, they've been working on it for four days. L thinks: "There are 141 people who have had contact with the investigation data. Each person is a member of the FBI or the Japanese police, and each may or may not have a family of between 3 and more than 6 members. Kira is hiding among all these people!”

Returning from their walk that night, Ryuk tells Light that something has been bothering him for hours. Light asks what it is. Ryuk maintains his stance, saying he's a Shinigami who won't help Light, that he's playing a neutral role. But because Light has been bothering him so much, Ryuk blurts out: "Look, it's not because I want to help you, it's just that I feel like I'm the one being followed..." Light freezes. What does he mean?... "There's been a guy following you for a while now." Light regains his composure and acts natural. The mysterious man hides. Light just sighs, knowing he's now being investigated. light-What a nuisance...for two days straight, it's been just one regular student….

Light arrives home at approximately 8:47 pm.

He opens the door and doesn't notice a change in the position of the doorknob.

Light - It seems that the agent hasn't entered my room yet... L has noticed that Kira has access to police information and is already investigating them, including their families... I need to find out who works for L, if they're private agents, or if they're from some agency. They've been following me for two days and six days since the information was leaked…, There are at least 50 suspects, I'll have an advantage if I get the name of the one who's following me, but first I must remain normal, while I leave scheduled deaths, for another 8 days.

Light is still thinking, and believes it's best to resolve it tomorrow; for now, he's safe.

The next day, while Light is relaxing, having learned that an agent is following him thanks to Ryuk, the Shinigami speaks: "Hey Light, do you know there are two differences between a human and a Shinigami when using a Death Note?" "Hmm... no, I didn't know that. What is it?" Ryuk: The first thing is that Shinigami can use the lifespan of humans. For example, I wrote down the name of a person with a lifespan of 60 years, who dies at 40... those 20 extra years are added to my lifespan, practically making me immortal. Wow, that's incredible, Ryuk. Keep talking…

Ryuk- The difference is that a human cannot increase their lifespan by killing people. The second difference is that a Shinigami can, just by looking at a person, determine their name, surname, and lifespan, and also whether or not they are a Death Note holder. If their lifespan doesn't appear, it's because they are a Death Note holder. But how, you ask? It's with the eyes of a shinigami, intense red eyes. And another thing, the shinigami can offer a deal to the wielder of the Death Note that previously belonged to that shinigami: a deal that consists of the wielder losing half their lifespan in exchange for permanently having shinigami eyes. So, Light, do you accept the deal?..

Ryuk... that deal is awful, it doesn't align with my ideals. I must build a new world, but how will I do that with half my life? Besides, if I'm not the only person who can possess a Death Note, there are others who also have the notebook. Who knows, maybe I'll take advantage of some fool with those eyes and reap the benefits without the consequences... Now I must deal with this agent. Let's see... this will be my plan…

 Chapter 5: FBI

After eight days, Ryuk asks what he will do now.

Light replies: "I have something... If, according to rule 4 of the Death Note, and as long as the detail is logical and realistic, it takes less than 6 minutes and 40 seconds, right? Well then, I will use this website with a list of local criminals. If whoever is following me doesn't find me suspicious, they won't follow me for a good while."

Kira Investigations Headquarters

Mr. Yagami - Yes, he speaks... Six more prisoners? From heart attacks? WHAT?! THREE OF THEM ACTED STRANGELY BEFORE THEY DIED?! I thought they would just be other deaths...

Prison Director - The prisoners did die from heart attacks, but before dying, one drew on the wall and the other left a suicide note... The first one's name was "Masaaki Shirami," an arsonist who set fire to a neighbor's house, killing him and his family in the blaze.

Mr. Yagami - Wait, I'm entering that into the database... Please continue.

Director - Shirami cut off his thumbs and drew a circle and a pentagram inside it on the wall with his blood. Yadanaka, the second, left a letter he had written, which I immediately sent by mail:

Yadanaka's suicide note:

I see it coming

he knows how I feel

before his implacable power he is a

beast that gnaws at my conscience

Past actions, from here to Madrid

yes, he already knows me, but I don't

want to die now, I don't want to

He already knows very well where I am

I sense it, I already see my

end approaching, he will take me to

Eternal Silence.

Director-The strangest one was Takeshi... he escaped from his cell, but went to the bathrooms, walked around in circles, and collapsed 20 minutes later…

L receives the entire database, the letter, and the photo of the staff.

After thinking, he deduces that Kira is experimenting with her power, and decides to do something.

L-This is new from Kira; he's definitely up to something. And about this letter, it doesn't say anything suspicious, except for the word "Madrid," which is foreign to the poem. Madrid... This letter and the pentagram of blood are obviously a hidden message. Madrid is in Spain... Spanish? Now I understand. After translating the poem into Spanish, it doesn't change much, but I noticed that the initials of the first letter of each line of the poem, together, spell: "L, did you know that the..." That's the whole message; it means he'll send more letters.

Plan to find out FBI agent  real name:

Light learns that someone is following him through Ryuk. Light analyzed: The investigation team's information was leaked, so L is suspicious of the police. That means your father is also being investigated. Who would let the police investigate their own troops, so L must have used another way to investigate the police. New information leaked for 6 days, and Light followed for two days. So the police investigation side must have a relatively large number. Light considers that the chance of him getting Kira is temporarily zero, but if it lasts longer, it will be a different story.

Light had a way to find out the stalker's name. If today's stalker concludes that Light is innocent, the investigation round will soon be pushed up. And then they will thoroughly investigate each one. Light had to take advantage of the fact that he was following him so that he wouldn't be able to make it later.

Light uses the rules of Death Note to create a plan to find the name of his stalker, specifically the rules are: +Can describe the subject's death in detail. The details of death recorded in the death book will not materialize if it is physically impossible and unreasonable when the subject does not. Death must always follow the owner of the notebook. Even if you are shot in the head, death will not die (piercing object). +Whoever touches a piece of the Death Note will see that monster(ryuk) follows the owner of the book.

Light chooses a criminal to write in, a drug addict who was recently reported to have failed to rob a bank, shoot employees and civilians, and then flee.

...

Light intentionally dropped the Death Note piece for the robber to pick up. Due to "Death must always follow the owner of the notebook" and "Whoever touches the book of death will see that death follows the owner," the bandit felt confused and panicked when he saw the death god behind Light, shooting continuously at Ryuk until he ran out of ammo. When he ran out of ammunition, the robber jumped out of the car and got into an accident (Makes sense with what was written in the book).

Summary of Light's plan: Using Death Note to manipulate a dangerous robber who appeared on the news to take a gun and rob a bus, making Ray Penber wary and creating a situation where he had to show his FBI card. Then the robber shot all the bullets and ran out of the car and was in an accident.

Detailed account of the drug addict's death: Osoreda Koiichiro, traffic accident. October 3, 2006, Saturday morning. Bus stop near the central park. He boards the first blue-striped bus arriving after 11:31 AM. He has a loaded revolver hidden in his coat and waits until that bus arrives. Inside the bus, he initiates a kidnapping, pointing the revolver at the driver and the passengers to extort money. He picks up a piece of paper from the floor, points it at the young man, and threatens him. The young man doesn't harm him, picks up the paper, sees something he doesn't understand, and shoots him. He runs from the bus in fear and is run over by a car at 11:43 AM.

Result: Light gets Ray Penber's name and learns that L is sending the FBI to Japan to investigate behind the Japanese police.

The Strategy Against Raye Penber (Subway & Notebook)

Inside the envelope prepared for the operation there are three items: A disposable and untraceable communicator; A ballpoint pen; An envelope with papers inside that have cut-out quadrants where a blank space is left, in reality, these are Death Note pages that already contain detailed death times with deviations of 2-6 minutes. The blank quadrants are for Raye to write the agents' names.

The "Fake Kira" is a convicted abuser released with a minimum sentence and controlled through the Death Note. He stands behind Raye and threatens him, saying he is Kira and will kill him if he moves. Raye Penber is scared. The kidnapper asks if he wants to collaborate or his loved one will die. Instantly Raye says not to hurt his wife. Light listens from an earpiece and uses this to his advantage. Light had already written about the kidnapper's day of death but left a blank space to detail conversations. He asks how many agents are involved. Raye answers there are twelve agents. He writes that the kidnapper says: "You must think why I chose you. I have already investigated you and her, so if you try anything, you will be guilty of her death." He points to a dessert shop. "See that person in the shop? He looks normal, but he is a monster. He was reported for sexual harassment of minors but was released days ago because the case was suspended. Now, you will wonder how I kill? It's simple. I can enter a person's mind and cause a heart attack by stopping their pulse at will (this is just a bluff). I don't need names; that's false. I only need to see the person's face, and I can wish them dead, how, where, and when I want. It sounds fantastic, but you will see with your own eyes. That subject will die of a heart attack in the next 10 seconds." Raye begs him to stop, but he replies that he already chose his death. Ten seconds pass, and the subject in the shop dies in front of a crowd. Raye is baffled but assumes the paranormal fact; he cannot defend himself against something like that.

Raye contacts his FBI superior. Light writes in his own page that Raye will ask the FBI chief for a list of data from the FBI page. Through a fabricated excuse of "data inconsistency" and an error on the page since there are repeated names that he already followed and families already registered that appear again that are missing to investigate, he manages to get a new look at the Chief's page and obtains the names and identification details of all involved agents. These names are then written in the Death Note by Raye Penber, already induced by the notebook. The agents will die of cardiac arrest. The Fake Kira tells Raye that is enough and orders him to get off the train. When Raye exits, he collapses. He doesn't die but enters a temporary coma. Light had written that Raye would collapse from heart failure and suffer amnesia from head trauma (he fell right on the sidewalk). He would be hospitalized for 3 days, remembering the last families he investigated, including Light. In total, he continues for 2 weeks prior to a total of 8 families, remembering how the routine and surveillance of everyone was. Light's: "A normal guy who just leaves class, has fun, is at home, and goes out with a girl. Nothing suspicious was found." The Death Note has the 23-day rule, so for 17 days, all agents including Raye are controlled by the Death Note but will continue their common work as detailed. The police chief will speak to L but never mention that someone asked for a report or accessed info because their names are also written. Passing day 18, everyone (including Raye) dies of a heart attack.

?-Raye is dead... no, he died at Kira's hands…

Chapter 6: Black Widow

After the deaths of the FBI agents, the chief ordered the operation to be canceled and no more agents sent for fear of public opinion. L, using the data, deduces that the FBI agents had documents revealing the identities of the rest of the team, including the head of that operation. Kira somehow contacted some agents to discover their identities. She wrote down her name and had the chief request the data list of everyone else on the team. She wrote down the names of the others, including this first agent, and had them all simultaneously request files. They died 18 days later.

??-If I'm right, Kira was one of the passengers on that 11:32 am bus. The criminal Raye mentioned boarded a few minutes later. He was run over and killed after firing shots into the air, around 11:48 am. If the kidnapping ended around that time, and considering what Raye told me, that means Raye boarded the bus at least 10-13 minutes earlier, according to the company. It was a blue-striped bus, the same one that was in the accident, and the one Raye boarded at the park stop. That means Kira was on that bus.

After some tension between the last agents of the anti-Kira squad and L, L decides it's time for them to trust him, showing his face, but it must be at a meeting in a hotel with instructions.

Meanwhile.. yagami House:

After Light's plan to take down the FBI, Ryuk notices Light's concern and asks what's wrong, but receives a strange answer: Light - Achilles' heel. Ryuk is left thinking, confused, and asks what he means by that. Light - In mythology, there was a gladiator named Achilles, practically a man with all the gifts and aptitudes to be an effective warrior: cunning, tactics, strength, agility, stamina, with impeccable fighting and weapons skills. Someone invincible in war, but who died because of his heel. In a gap where he was distracted, in a vulnerable moment, he received an arrow in his heel from Hector's brother, Paris. He didn't die after being defeated by someone stronger, more skilled, or more intelligent than him; he died due to an unfavorable situation, something external. This makes you think, because seeing how the situation is, practically between L and me, if we're both equally intelligent and putting 100% into staying one step ahead of each other and not making a mistake that means death, a stalemate occurs; neither L nor I can get close to the other. Basically, in a stalemate, whoever has an external advantage will win... if something bad has to happen, it will, but inevitably…Something will happen. I'll go to the police station to drop off some clothes for my father. Maybe walking and being outside will clear my head.

National Department of Security - Police Headquarters

?-Think: After drawing my own conclusions, if it's true that the kidnapper was on the bus Raye was on, it means Kira can kill in other ways!..

Light arrives at the station and hears a sort of argument between a woman in a black jacket and the receptionists.

Woman: Don't make excuses! I want to speak to those in charge of the case.

Receptionist: I already told you that no one is here right now.

Woman: I made an appointment yesterday, how can there be no one here?!

Light had called his father but he left it on voicemail, he thinks it's strange, and then there's this persistent woman, so he decides to find out on his own…

The receptionists recognize him and call him a "child prodigy" since they mention he helped in difficult cases before and that his deductions are very sharp. The woman hears this and looks at the young man. Light, with what he heard just arriving, he sees the agent's eyes, noting fury and determination in her gaze, he can read her almost desperate intention to be heard; if she is here alone, then it must be something personal, if she is like this, she might even listen to someone close who can help her with the case, whoever it is as long as they understand and know something about the Kira case too. He notes low neuroticism because she responds with low reactivity; she is objective and analytical. But when the assistants comment that they cannot help her, she persists that she has something important to tell the agents. They only follow protocol. She sounds more slightly angry, or rather frustrated. He sees her face with a shade between desolation and sadness mixed with frustration, also a momentary emotional explosiveness.

He comprehends her distant behavior and emotions, hypothesizing trauma or grief. He introduces himself and states he is there to deliver clothes to his father, the police chief, and that there are no detectives available that day. He speaks without turning his head, maintaining eye contact with Naomi while facing the receptionists, preventing the rear camera from reading his lips or facial movements. Politely, he suggests waiting outside for five minutes, which she accepts. The moment is intentional, making it seem that Light simply left something and left, while the woman left later after finding no one.

Outside, Light initiates a conversation with her without tensing her or asking very direct questions. He understands she is looking for justice, but she possesses information where it would be normal, with her personality, to be very cautious. I must first put it in her head that I am just a boy who has a relationship with the base and the Kira case, I am somewhat curious and with certain deductive ability, it must not seem like an interrogation nor that she feels pressure. I note how she observes me, she is trying to look for something suspicious in me, I must lower the water, if she agreed to walk with me, it is because she feels she has such valuable information she needs to let out, so much so that she accepted to converse with a stranger, but only because of the receptionist's references and my comment about being the police chief's son. Up to now I remain someone in the middle. He thinks: "She wants to be heard. She doesn't seem like an amateur, but I must ask the right questions..." He starts by saying his name is Light and asks hers. Instantly he notes a serious gesture in She. She says her name is "Shoko Maki". Now he has a name but decides to continue the conversation. He asks about the Kira case and how she decided to start her own investigation. She responds dryly: "Because I want to catch him. I want him to pay for killing innocents (FBI members)." He replies “-that is reasonable”. L's special unit is working hard to catch him too. He knows they will. Killing people is not the solution; he must pay. Shoko nods, showing a slight opening of trust.

Here Light takes advantage. He extends his hand and points to the street on his left, asking for a favor: "Can we go there? I'm going to take the bus there. It's about 5 blocks away." She agrees. It sounds harmless, but here Light subtly employed a psychological technique called the "Benjamin Franklin Effect"—asking a person for a favor, not the opposite. This creates cognitive dissonance, lowering the person's guard and generating more sympathy for the one doing the favor. After this, Light continues sounding charismatic and like a typical attentive and gentle guy. Now he asks more about the Kira case. He takes out a notebook saying if she could provide data from her investigation since he says he is in high school, but his father, as chief, teaches him many things about profiling or very basic deduction, but he also helps a lot in difficult cases like the receptionists mentioned. She understands this and explains her investigation, her surveillance from the hijacked bus where Raye was and the person Raye was following, to the subway events. Light, supposedly writing this data, actually wrote her name and that she would die for suicide in 3 days, rejecting being in the case. While they talk, Naomi mentions the steps she took, and that she also had some cooperation with L in solving BB's case. Light just listens and replies that if it took two Cerberuses, the guy must have been very smart. Light asks how he lost, and while Saki explains, Light looks at his watch…45 seconds pass, and nothing happens. Light is bewildered. He checks his watch and the piece. It is written correctly. Instantly, after Ryuk laughed, he knew the name she gave him was fake. Why? If she spoke with Raye, he surely told her about the bus accident, and also that he had to hand over his ID to the person he was following. She thinks the same will happen to her if she gives her real name, so she gives a fake one. Light feels powerless because asking if she has another name sounds suspicious. So, on the fly, he improvises a deception.

Light: Do you find it strange that the headquarters is empty?

Naomi: Um....that's weird too.

Light: The Kira investigation team is applying a new method of operation to protect the identities of the members... The truth has come to this point... I'm a member of the investigation team. Currently, L is the person who directs the investigation... Although he was in high school, he had helped the police solve two cases, so he was allowed to freely enter the office and investigate flexibly... A lie becomes more believable if a little truth is added to it. Petyr Baelish. When Naomi revealed she was a former FBI agent and had worked with L, Light immediately realized he could take advantage of this.

Light: Do you want to investigate with me? Why don't you join my investigation team? That way, you can talk directly to L. No, you can capture Kira yourself. Light flatters Naomi, using a trap, a bait that suits her current desires, using the phrase "fate" to sway Naomi. Naomi's death [occurs via] disappearance and suicide on day 3 (7 days after Raye's death).

 Chapter 7: Potato chips

After the death and disappearance of Naomi Misora, L and the Japanese police's special anti-Kira squad collect recordings of the deaths of FBI agents to search for clues.

L says: "When Raye Penber entered the train, we lost sight of him. It's impossible to tell if anyone was nearby. And at that moment, he collapses, only to rise a few seconds later as if he were coming back to life... Penber received the files at 3:21 PM, almost 10 minutes after entering the train. After receiving this information, he remained on the train for almost an hour and a half. He entered the Shinjuku train at 3:11 PM, as recorded on his ticket. Something very strange is happening... she boarded the train at 3:13 pm, but collapsed right after getting off at 4:42 pm... a trip to Yamano of almost an hour and a half... she didn't have a return ticket, which means Kira controlled Raye before or right after boarding the train. Kira can control the actions of her victims, which would explain all the strange things that happen in that tape.

L-Wait... The envelope's gone!

Aikawa (Anti-Kira Agent) - Huh? What envelope?

L - Look, Raye had an envelope in her lap. Aikawa - You're right, it's incredible, Ryuzaki, you're so observant!”

Mr. Yagami - the autopsy revealed Raye wasn't carrying an envelope, which means it was left on the train and Kira took it…

 Yagami House

Light: Ryuk, is it possible to assign death dates to people for a long time? Or is the 23-day rule mandatory?

Ryuk: I don't know. Shinigami usually kill instantly, so it might not work if the rule only allows up to 23 days.

Light: Hmm…

Ryuk: But why do you want to know?

Light: Imagine I get hospitalized. They have to keep me there for more than 23 days. They'll start to suspect something. The deaths will stop while I'm hospitalized. Pretty coincidental, right?

 Ryuk - I understand now.

Light - Yes, that's why I programmed it. At least 50 prisoners will die within 23 days. In the specific case that I can't access the Death Note, the deaths will still occur without me picking up the notebook again for at least 20 days.

Light thinks: Yuri, the girl I went out with, I told her not to tell anyone, like a secret. I'm sure I'll block her in a week. She's shy. I chose her because, given her personality, she's not the type to tell others what she does. At most, she'll say "I went out with a guy," but she won't say my name.

At the hotel where L and the squad are, L receives a call from Naomi's mother, who reports that she is missing. Memories of BB's case come back to L, and he finds it strange that she committed suicide. Then he manages to connect everything... L thinks: "Naomi was with Panber, it's possible she knew something, and took care of her..."

L - Listen, Panber made a call to Haley, it's obvious he was the one who called to get the information, since Haley is the head of the FBI's administrative operations. Panber's collapse and the envelope fit with Naomi's disappearance. Kira realized Raye was following him. I already investigated the list of the  suspicious. It's rather long, but in total there are five families. Kira is among those families, but they can't be questioned directly. He, like the rest of the agents, followed the families of the police officers involved and had access to the case, including, Panber and the others withdrew from the case, as did the rest of the FBI agents. The report before and after he recovered from the coma before dying said the same thing: there was no member suspected of being Kira. Anyway, it's clear that Kira was able to hide well after somehow realizing he was being followed... I want you to install hidden cameras in their houses.

Matsuda: That's not allowed in Japan, it's forbidden!

Aikawa: L, what are you thinking? They won't let us do it!

Mr. Yagami: Leaving aside the legal aspects, who are the families under suspicion?

L:Of the 5 families, two involve the Kitamura family of Deputy Chief Kitamura, and his family, Mr. Yagami…

Yagami House

Light enters the house, there's no one there... as he goes upstairs he unlocks the door and notices something strange…

Light uses a mechanism on the door handle. He leaves the handle slightly lowered. If it moves freely before hitting the stop, no one enters. If it hits the stop immediately, someone enters. He observes his clothes remain on the bed and the desk chair is tidy, ruling out his mother and sister because he knows his mother's routine; she only enters to drop off his clothes. She doesn't have a curious personality. His sister Sayu does; she is messy and chaotic, besides not worrying much if her brother knows she entered his room. She would leave her magazines on his bed, or the chair and his computer keyboard would be moved since she usually uses his computer to play video games. In seconds, he deduces surveillance cameras have been installed. His deduction is precise because it wasn't based on a single trap, but two. Besides the handle mechanism that detects only if someone entered, he placed a thin wire through the door crack, which would be crushed if the door opened fully. Light saw everything looked exactly as he left it, but the handle felt slightly lower than before, although in the same position. When he took off his shoes, he noticed out of the corner of his eye that half the wire fragment was already on the floor and cut before he entered. Why? Because someone else opened the door. If the door opens about 45 to 60 degrees, the wire experiences no pressure and isn't crushed. That's how Light entered to not activate his trap, but the agent opened the door normally and cut the wire. This leads to a single conclusion: someone who wasn't him entered the room. He wasn't looking for anything. The handle confirmed his suspicion. From this, Light deduces the only plausible reason is installing surveillance cameras. Why? That would be the most viable reason they are in his room, and the reason would be that L already suspects Light, since he was one of the 23 investigated by Raye Penber. There are 100-150 suspects, but L reduces to the most probable (obviously probability is extremely low, 1% max, the rest less than 0.1%).

He acts normally, finishes dressing, and leaves his room to go to a park, maintaining emotional control knowing he is being watched.

He acts normal and asks Ryuk to investigate. Ryuk later reveals there are 58 cameras. Light asks for exact locations, but Ryuk refuses without extra apples, casually revealing partial info (4 cameras in living room, etc.). Light accepts this coldly, stating he already has what he needs.

He enters the house, carefully takes out an already opened bag of potato chips he had prepared, goes upstairs, and deduces camera locations based on behavioral profiling and architectural logic (hallway length = 2-3 cameras, kitchen/washing zone = 2-4, living room = 8-10, bathrooms = 4, bedrooms = 5-8). He estimates cameras in common areas and 24-27 in his room alone, assuming the worst case.

At his desk, supposedly working on Advanced Mathematical Analysis III (problem to solve: starts with Optimization with derivatives and implicit constraint: f_n(x)/ (1+ n^{2}. x^{2}) Light thinks: "defined on the whole real line. The question was double... requires pointwise and uniform convergence..."), Light performs four divided, not simultaneous tasks: visually scaling his room, deducing camera angles and blind spots, and executing assassinations while under constant observation, without turning or changing posture.

Up to now, Light had punished criminals on the day of the news, or the next day at the latest. That is, if Light now turns on the TV, sees info on a new crime, and that person dies today or tomorrow, L has reason to suspect Light is Kira. However, if because of that, Light deliberately did not turn on the TV, did not access news, and then criminals suddenly died around the time Light avoided watching TV, L would still suspect Light. But if Light doesn't turn on the TV or computer, has no info at all but the criminal is still dead, L will only conclude "Yagami Light is not Kira." L knew Kira needed a face to kill and all info came from TV and internet. If Light is completely blind to info and the criminal still dies, Light is considered innocent.

He uses his body measurements as reference units: shoe size (39 cm), forefoot width (11cm), combined measures, height (177cm). Through rapid visual estimation and proportional reasoning, he reconstructs the room dimensions in 3 minutes and 39 seconds. The room is square by luck, and the right side is the balcony. One can deduce the location of the room cameras for two reasons: 1: The ideal place to put cameras, they have a placement pattern. Being fixed cameras, they have a limited range of vision, so one must maximize their range by placing them at a distance of approximately 30cm parallel to each other, except for those in the corners of the wall. All the others (ceiling that turns from above, wall behind me, wall in front of me; if the relation is correct, a small opening covered by my torso is enough to create and use a blind spot due to this pattern. Besides, L doesn't know it is the Death Note, nor does he know the properties like being able to use just a scrap of paper of about 10 cm or less, as long as a name and surname fit. He doesn't even know what use I have or what "Kira does" to eliminate criminals, so the cameras are limited by him to have a wide view but not so observable as to specifically see small details or actions. From there, he infers camera locations using geometric coverage patterns and identifies blind spots formed by overlapping but non-360-degree fields of vision.

He positions the potato chip bag with precision inside a blind spot and uses his torso to block remaining lines of sight. Inside the bag are a mini TV, a shortened pencil, and a Death Note fragment. While solving equations, he writes names intermittently without looking, then eats chips to maintain the illusion. He manages to kill 17 individuals, attempting 20, committing minor spelling errors.

Light shortens the pencil preventively for efficiency. With Ryuk's partial confirmation, he visualizes the angles of the 28 cameras in his room and completes the operation without leaving evidence.

Inside the bag of potato chips, there was a mini TV attached to the right side of the interior, facing diagonally towards the left side. On the left side, there was a small rectangular piece of mirror taped at the ends so it wouldn't fall, reflecting the mini TV. With this, Light avoided leaning suspiciously close to the bag, because it is strange to be looking inside a bag of potato chips. With this piece of mirror and the help of the angular reflection, Light only had to look at the mirror by lowering his gaze without moving his body, clearly seeing the names and faces of the criminals. And beside it, in the center almost at the exterior, was a piece of Death Note paper along with a shortened pencil.

When finished, he flattens the bag of potatoes and carefully puts it in the basket, avoiding any metallic noise…

L is baffled that Kira is able to continue killing while somehow concealing her identity; he thinks:

L:In all the suspects, I didn't notice a single unusual microexpression; they all acted in a common, everyday way. But the criminals died as soon as they were broadcast on television, which means Kira must have seen them before killing them... but what if Kira really isn't among these families? I shouldn't rule it out yet; I have to take it with a grain of salt…

After the potato chip strategy, Light knows that until they take the cameras and microphones out of his house, he won't be able to eliminate criminals there. So he comes up with a plan: He goes to the living room and glances at the news for 1 hour, watching topics about: weather, celebrity controversies, and economic and political situations. But that doesn't interest him; he watches it to seem like he is just watching news.

He retains a total of 27 names, divided by origin: 22 Japanese (names and surnames, and faces too), 4 Americans (more facial and ethnic distinction, shorter names: "James Morris", "Alex Morgan", etc.) and one French name (only one because the name and surname were long: "Moreau Bernard Lefebvre").

He cuts out strips just the right size for writing names and surnames in his Death Note (cuts a total of 154 strips), and pastes them on different pages of a criminology textbook. With this, he only carries his criminology textbook. And 6 hours after leaving his house, he writes on the pasted strips all the names he retained per day (23-34 names depending on the ease of remembering them) without active revision.

 Chapter 8: Graduation

Light Yagami establishes a baseline of exceptional cognitive ability. Entering To-Oh University at age 12 (passing exams at 11 years and 9 months) as he processed advanced academic years ahead of the biological norm. The use of specific study techniques like the Feynman Method and Active Recall highlights his Metacognition and knowledge of efficient learning algorithms. Speaking 8 languages with near-native proficiency and the ability to distinguish regional accents . His degrees in Literature, Criminology, and Psychology with perfect grades showcase high IQ(+185-201).

Light and L meet in person for the first time at his graduation. L tells Light directly that he is the real L. Light does nothing in response, conscious that any reaction could be part of a trap. He stays calm, looking for a logical explanation while thinking. This helps him regulate himself and not show tension or defensiveness. He accepts L as an intermediary or fake but concludes he is real. If he approached him, it's because he is desperate for proof. If only L could discover Kira wasn't Russian but Japanese, it's because his mind is outside what would be thought of a common detective: cause-effect analysis, deduction, and rigid mathematical logic. His strategy of disguising his geostrategic profile was effective for logical and manual detective minds. L thinks outside the box. Light profiles L while listening. He notes obsession and curiosity but makes a difference between innocent curiosity and a morbid curiosity that seems to consume him. He expects him to do something suspicious; he wants to be in the foreground observing in detail. His strategy is clear: only you out of the agents know my face. If I die, you are guilty. If that is his strategy, he is capable of sacrificing himself for a case. That determination in contrast to his carefree tone is dissonant, but I don't plan to fall.

Later they meet in a cafe where L proposes a deduction test. Light accepts calmly. L presents several letters supposedly sent by Kira (Light sent the three, to annoy L) and asks Light to identify the hidden message. Actually, L is observing Light's reactions more than seeking a correct answer. L also shows him a photograph of a pentagram drawn with blood next to a dead criminal, an image Light himself staged earlier using the Death Note to test remote mind control.

The letters contain poetic fragments. Internally, Light recognizes the message immediately but fakes analyzing it. He notes subtle alterations and embedded numbers. Rearranged one way, letters form: "L, did you know Shinigami like apples?" Rearranged numerically, they form an incomplete phrase: "L, did you know Shinigami are puppets with ha—"

Light realizes choosing either interpretation outright would be suspicious. He explains he found two possible messages but discarded the first because it lacked symbolism. He points out the second seems incomplete and asks if another card is missing.

After a brief pause, L admits there is a fourth card and shows it: "—nds red like apples."

At that moment, Light understands the true nature of the test. L wasn't measuring deductive skill but whether Light would obsess too much over one interpretation, implying authorship. Light immediately reframes his conclusion using the photograph.

He explains the complete message is: "L, did you know Shinigami are puppets with hands red like apples?"

Light argues this version is symbolic and consistent with the Kira profile and uses semantics, alluding that he can control criminals before killing them, including making them harm themselves without being able to resist. The control effect must be total. The pentagram and blood suggest ritualized control. The criminal was forced to draw the symbol with his own fingers with skin flayed off through an unknown, almost psychic power. He links the image and poetry of the Reaper with Kira's mentality and ideology of control. He possesses excessive narcissism and sociopathic traits. L accepts the explanation, uneasy but without proof.

While visiting Light's father at the hospital, L reveals some info to Light.

*During L's suspicions towards Light, Light tells L that surely Raye Penber was one of the agents who was following our family by order of L, Light admits he lied about not knowing about the FBI. L suspects Light immediately but instantly experiences a cognitive dissonance: (this is not analyzed, it is L's thought: why would he tell me something like that? It's not common if he is Kira. It could be Kira sending me a message saying "that's what happens for following me", no... no sense. If Light Yagami were Kira he would be the most quiet person who would look the other way, who would never know he was being investigated since he would act like the perfect innocent, because why did he drop that?) Later, after L told him "how do you know Raye Penber was following you", to which Light responded: "because it is deducible". L looks at him bewildered. Light continues: "You came to me telling me you are L, whether you are or not matters, that is something strange, coming from L himself. On the tennis court you said you suspected I was Kira, and then you did this test on me... you think I am Kira, why? The only possible reason would be that I am one of those investigated by the FBI agents. After your revelation, I started investigating the names of the deceased, among them was Raye Penber. He died in this hospital, compared to the other agents who died in a range between 3-9 km difference, making this agent the only one near this Kanto zone (speaking of specific city in the zone, there are Kanto police working on the Kira case investigated, but they live outside the capital so that's why). If you came to me, you wanted to check if I would be Kira. Everything you applied is called psychological warfare and profiling, right? That is, if you used that it must be because I am one of the most probable suspects, right?" L and his father look with a certain admiration and surprise, but here is something dirty, something Light thought about using and told Ryuk: Tactic of the dilemma: What is that? Adjusted to the thinking and the personality and conduct of L (Obsessive, analytical, deeply thinker). What happens if I give information about myself indirectly, but that always leads to two possible conclusions: If Kira, or not. By proposing something that gives almost a 50% possibility of conclusion always, creating this dilemma, it is a brain teaser for someone very thoughtful trying to decipher if I do B thing for being X, or for being Y, being that X or Y are different conclusions, both can do B with different reasoning, creating this tactical paradox. Continuing, L says: Kira was already 12 FBI agents in Japan. All 12 people who received the file on December 27 and died on the same day prove it. Kira also easily obtained info about the investigation situation. I don't know the source, but the security system in the investigation team's computer also has many holes... In general, it is highly likely Kira stole data from someone in the investigation team. But, despite leaving the FBI, Kira never approached the Japanese investigators. From that inferred in the organization there are relatives of the head. Although I also think Kira can coldly kill his loved ones... In particular, there is an FBI agent named Raye Penber. Action has very noticeable points. His fiancée, who used to work for the FBI and went with him to Japan, is also missing.

Light: So you've limited the scope of suspicion between the Kitamura family and mine... So far, based on the clues that Kira is hiding in Kanto, I can only guess that he is Japanese, not wanting to kill innocent people. But if the dead FBI agents were spying on relatives of the Japanese police, it's very likely Kira was among the targets... And I was in it (but Raye Penber was tracking me). It's okay to be suspicious.

Because he was Kira, Light knew all that info in advance, but he couldn't pretend to be ignorant in front of L. So Light showed L that he used his logical thinking and persuasive arguments to deduce the above. Light showed L he was able to deduce these things with very logical, reasonable, and convincing arguments => both helping Light to show his wisdom and good reasoning ability in front of L, while avoiding revealing he knew info only Kira knew. Thanks to his good reasoning ability, Light played an innocent, not Kira, but perfectly intelligent person in front of L. This worked somewhat logically.

L- had to wander in the car: Yagami Light... Are you Kira?...

Chapter 9: Queen

days later…

             Sakura Tv

Office worker -Director Demegawa, I have a package for you.

Demegawa-Ah, thank you very much…Huh? There's no return address, they're video tapes, there's a note here…

Note: To Director Demegawa... I am Kira. The proof is on this first tape. After you watch it, I want you to broadcast the recordings of tapes two through four on Sakura TV. The second page specifies the time I want you to send each tape. The tape contains my predictions of the deaths of various people in your company... fulfilling my declaration that I am Kira.

Demegawa- This is a dream come true! My channel's ratings will skyrocket!!

hotel where L and the squad are staying

Watari- Ryuuzaki.

L- Tell me, what's wrong, Watari?

Watari-Something 's happening on Sakura TV…

Watari turns on the TV, and everyone watches the channel's broadcast.

 Commentator - Right now, we're Kira's hostages…

Matsuda- Hostages!!!? What 's happening!?.

Commentator: The videos aren't a joke, and neither is this broadcast...

Demegawa thinks: There's no doubt the four tapes are real. In tape #1, the deaths of two arrested criminals were predicted. And just as predicted, they died of heart attacks at 7:00 PM.

L- yes, just kira could be behind that…

Transmission of the second tape: A logo appears in the style of L, but with a K: Greetings, I am Kira…

L thinks: A hand-drawn font, digitally altered; it's obvious this is a video recorded with a home camera...

Kira continues: If this tape is airing at exactly 5:59 PM, please change the channel to Tadou TV. A presenter will die there at exactly 6:01 PM…

The presenter dies at the exact predicted time, L asks Watari to bring two more cameras..

Amid the commotion caused by Kira, an agent (Ukita) rushes to arrest Sakura TV. Ukita tries to open the company's entrance, but collapses and dies…

     Hospital

Mrs. Yagami: Honey, you're tired and you need to recover. This tape will only make you worse...

Mr. Yagami: Sachiko, I'm also responsible for the investigation. Please play it again.

Mrs. Yagami plays the tape again…

Mrs. Yagami goes out to look for something, and when she returns to the infirmary, Mr. Yagami is not there…

 Sakura Tv

An armored car crashes into the entrance of Sakura TV, managing to get inside. The person involved in the crash was Mr. Yagami…

Mr. Yagami gets out of the car and, at gunpoint, manages to stop the transmission and take all the tapes. L manages to contact the head of the federal police, who provide trucks and police units that, with shields and blankets, manage to safely transport Mr. Yagami without exposing him.

Hotel

L sees the envelope and thinks - sealed in Osaka, but Kira can control his victims... he wouldn't need to send the tapes himself from Osaka…

Yagami House:

Light also recognizes this imposter through the Sakura TV broadcast, and now knows he may have an ally…

 Hotel:

L asks Mr. Yagami to call his son to help with the case, and he also suspects, because of the deaths of innocent people and the way he kills and his intention, that he is a second Kira, not the original.

In the park

A shinigami asks the fake Kira, who is a blonde girl, why she did that, and the girl replies that it was to meet Kira and thank him, and also to become his strongest ally, since she possesses the eyes of a shinigami…

Chapter 10: Love

Hotel:

L deduces that to get the second Kira, he has to call Light to impersonate Kira and meet the second Kira, lure him in, and thus obtain essential information.

Hours late..Light arrives at the hotel after his father calls him to help L with the case.

Light asks if they are the only ones left from the investigation. L mentions that they aren't, since there's one more person who only contacts him privately and has no contact with the rest of the group.

Light thinks: How clever... if he and the others die, that person will know I'm Kira because I'm the only one outside of them who knows their names and faces. I must find him and kill him too…

Light sits down and watches the tape of the second Kira. He's embarrassed by the terrible imitation and how it tarnishes Kira's reputation. He wonders why everyone else is staring at him... L asks him if he saw anything strange.

Light thinks—was that it…!Light calmly gets up and says:

Light—There might be someone else with Kira's killing ability. He seems like an imposter.

The rest of the group is surprised, Light continues:

Light - This Kira's profile is different from the original; he kills innocents to prove he is Kira, he seeks recognition from the real Kira, he is someone else.

L acknowledges Light's analytical skills, saying he reached the same conclusion as him, which slightly lowers his suspicion of Light, since the real Kira would choose to remain silent.

L then asks Light to impersonate the real Kira (ironic) and to contact the second Kira to arrange a meeting.

The second Kira responds to the recording and sends another envelope containing a another tape. On the tape, he says that he truly admires him and knows that he doesn't have eyes... and that when they meet, they will recognize each other by their Shinigami.

Light gets angry at the stupid thing the second Kira said, revealing that... L is startled, asking if they were talking about Shinigami... Light calms him down, saying that doesn't exist, and just like with the picture of the blood pentagram, it must be something more abstract and metaphorical, but still related to witchcraft or the supernatural.

Girl House:

At the blonde girl's house, the Shinigami speaks with her, and the girl asks how a Shinigami can die. The Shinigami replies that he can only die by sacrifice, sacrificing himself for the life of a human, which contradicts the Shinigami laws of doing the opposite. With that information, the girl says she will give it to Kira…

Yagami House

Two days later, the second Kira sends a diary

Diary:

Day 1: I told a friend that I don't feel like going to the festival

Day 4: I went to a concert with a friend

Day 8: On vacation, but bored

Day 11: I've started fourth year of high school, I don't feel like going so I'm asking my friends to give me their notebooks

Day 15: I need to meet a friend in Aoyama to exchange notebooks.

Day 18: I went shopping with my friends in Shibuya

Day 22: I saw a shinigami in the baseball stadium.

After looking at the 22nd day Light discovered a secret way to meet with the second Kira, “My friend and I showed off our Notebooks in Aoyama”, Light easily deduced that with “Notebooks” the second Kira was actually referring to the death notes they have, the task force will focus on the 30th day since it mentions the word “Shinigami” which was mentioned in the second Kira video Tape, with the word “notebook”, Kira wouldn't assume that the Tokyo dome part was real and would see the real message hidden in this diary. Light then decides to go to Aoyama with Matsuda so he can meet the second Kira there. after some time Light return to his house and questions Ryuk if two Shinigami's see each other in the human world are they allowed to acknowledge each other which Ryuk respond saying that it's a good question, according to him a Shinigami who is attached to their human wouldn't do such a thing without their permission but there isn't any rule saying that Shinigami's can't acknowledge each other(this will be used by Light soon so keep this information in your mind). After thinking for some time Light perceives that the second Kira might be smarter than he initially thought. On the 22nd day there will be a concert at a club called The Note Blue, in Japanese, the word “AO” in Aoyama means Blue plus the word note. This, alongside Light's past deductions about the hidden message inside the diary, demonstrates his impressive skills to solve verbal puzzles. During the day of the investigation, Light called a total of seven friends from the college to go with him to Aoyama.

Aoyama

Aoyama Strategy:

L decided to publish the diary page... Light searched the internet for Aoyama: on the 22nd, the "Note blue" club in Aoyama had a live music performance. Aoyama (meaning blue-green spike) then Note. Light deduces the second Kira most likely sent the message with the intention of meeting at the Note blue club.

On May 22, Light brought several college friends with him to Aoyama. Light told Matsuda the purpose of this was to keep Kira's attention... However, Light's true purpose was to prevent Kira from realizing who Ryuk really was due to fear that the second Kira's Shinigami would see Ryuk follow Light and report back to his master. With so many people walking so close together, even if you see Ryuk, you don't know who he is following. This is also the wall that helps Light deal with L's surveillance cameras... Also, Light observed the entrance to Note Blue...

This strategy fails because Light is unaware... However, it still shows creativity and ability. Light's clever strategic improvisation.

Yagami House

When Misa and Light meet at his house, he quickly profiles her: "High extroversion and neuroticism, very reactive, has a sense of fashion. All those data point to her being popular, many people know her. I couldn't kill her because she surely told at least 1 friend where she went. I must be careful." Then he is surprised by her declaration that she loves him. Obviously, he doesn't believe this, so he starts interrogating her because it seemed suspicious that an "innocent and tender" person had a Death Note and had written several people. She could be a manipulator. "I must pay attention and see if she doesn't show too much kindness so I lower my guard. She has the eyes; she could kill me easily. I must play her game." He changes his attitude to a warm and emotionally attentive one without seeming false. He looks at her with depth as if also desperate for someone to help him. He adjusts his tone at will to emit: understanding. He relaxes the tension saying he only wanted to know if he could trust her. Now he can "Lower her defenses."

He tells her she can be his girlfriend, but only if he is the center of her world. Misa accepts immediately... Rem sees Light as a potential threat... To prevent suspicion, Light subtly frames her behavior as paranoia caused by constant persecution... he understands that with this, she, being as emotional as she is, will be a loyal aid, as long as he maintains that peak of emotionality and attention, with affection, she shows submission.

Memory loss Pre-plan:

Light, prepared for his plan, devises a strategy that creates a situation "disadvantageous to him," but it's actually a trap. Light goes to a plaza, where he meets L. They chat like friends, but L continues with the same strategy:

L - Do you know if you're really Kira? It's pointless to kill me. As I told you, L isn't a person, but an entity. There are many like me waiting for you to strike. I don't mind sacrificing myself if you are Kira...

Light just looks at him while thinking: "He's using that cheap psychological warfare trick again. If there really were two or more Ls, I'd already be in prison. Why not help him? He thinks I'm stupid. Besides, it's obvious there's only one L. Only he could be capable of thinking that way. That trick has no effect on me."

Light just ignores it and continues talking about his likes and dislikes, and if he wants to play a game of chess or some video game, L has a smiling face, then Misa appears, to greet Light, L is surprised, another girlfriend... Light restrains her, she sees L's name, but Light tells her yes, his name is Hideki Ryuga, even if it's a fake name, Misa remains silent.

Light thinks:"Well, Misa saw her name, maybe I don't need to make the plan, what if I just get this over with?" But she turns and sees L with a chilling smile, as if she'd just caught the culprit red-handed, surely connecting everything to Kira and the second Kira. But then she feigns ignorance and comments:

L-Light, lucky you... your girlfriend is none other than the model Misa Amane, I'm a fan of hers

Light thinks: What? How did he know she was a model? She's not that famous yet; she only started two years ago, and she's still in niche magazines…

Light doesn't pay any attention to L's strange tastes. Then people in the plaza start recognizing her. In the crowd, Misa feels someone touch her. L makes a fool of himself and says he'll do everything he can to catch the culprit(It was probably him, and yes, it could only have been him.) Light doesn't pay it any mind. Now that he has the name L because of Misa, he tells L he's going to the bathroom while he turns on his phone to call Misa, but her phone sounds very close... too close. Light turns around and sees L with Misa's phone.

L jokingly pretends to answer it: L- Ahhh... Hello? Hellooooo... Who could it be?... Kira, is that you?.

Light looks at him seriously, but L tells him that Misa has already been arrested on suspicion of being the second Kira. Through a friend, fingerprints and hairs were found on tapes that originated from the second Kira's messages. L says, "If my suspicions are correct, she is the second Kira." Light feigns surprise, but then, turning and walking away, he lets out a macabre smile as he thinks: "Well, she fell into my trap... looks like Plan A. It's going as it should..

L says: We found quite a bit of evidence in Misa's apartment. It includes cat hair, which is the same as what was found on the tapes; their cat must have walked over it. There are also chemicals related to lip balm. We won't be making this case public; she's supposedly being held for illegal drug possession.

Light thinks: Damn, they caught her really fast... but that's good, it's something I can use…

L: Are you alright, Yagami? Your girlfriend is the second Kira, I understand how you must feel…

Light thinks: If they acted in advance, it means they were already following her, but if they had reasons to follow her, it means they've been spying on me. Now I'll seem even more suspicious…

Chapter 11: Movement

      Hotel Base Anti-Kira

Aizawa: Ahh... Ryuuzaki, you were right about the evidence, it all fits together.

L-... Did Watari say anything?

Watari: No, sorry, not even about being held captive…

L- okay, i want see her

She is seen wearing a straitjacket, strapped into a bra.

Mr. Yagami - L, it's not too mu..

L- no, She's suspected of being the second Kira, so it makes sense that she's like this as a precaution. She's also bandaged for added security.

L continues - the fingerprints match one of her best friends, the video camera was not found, but a common notebook was found that had the same type of paper as the one they sent us in the envelope, besides, Misa's handwriting is identical to the diary and the notes she left. The tape was sent from Osaka; the envelope contained pollen particles. Pollen is only found in Osaka during the spring season in April. And the pollen belongs to a type of flower that doesn't exist in the Kanto region…Now what we need to know is how she kills, And who is the real Kira?.

He asks Watari to use psychological techniques to try to extract information from Misa.

L- By the way, Mr. Yagami…Your child is restricted from entering this place. Very soon, I will call him to ask him some questions. Amane moved to Kanto in April, and a few days later, she started dating Light. Misa Amane's parents died in a robbery; perhaps that's the reason for Kira's admiration for her, but if Light were Kira, he would have already silenced Misa by killing her. Unless, of course, he had foreseen this situation and is pretending…

       Yagami House

light think- Even without proof, L must already be sure that I am Kira... using the dilemma tactic, he chose the side of intuition. So, to launch a counter-offensive and generate strong cognitive dissonance, I must prove that I am not Kira through evidence... L will come into conflict with his "superego" because he has two characteristic ways of determining if someone is guilty: by instinct, or by data. If one of the two contradicts the other, L will feel that he is heading towards a mistake, and that's where I must take advantage of the emotional state he will experience. I no longer carry anything from the Death Note with me; I hid the notebook in my drawer with the trap activated…. Now this Misa... If Rem will do anything for her, I have to present her with a situation of mutual cooperation. That's how game theory works. She doesn't like me much, but she'll be forced to cooperate because refusing out of pride will only get Misa arrested. My original plan was to use Misa's eyes to make her kill L with a piece of the Death Note while I confessed that I might be Kira. But in my notebook was written my own name and other deaths I didn't commit: traffic accidents, a man with heart problems who suffered because his son died at the hands of criminals. He would decide to eliminate criminals, but because of his age and illness, he decided to write the name of a young man whom no one would suspect. That young man would be me, creating a nonexistent being with a profile different from mine, who would be like "Kira's predecessor.” L doesn't know about the 23-day rule, so I can have Ryuk overlay another rule on top of this one, a fictitious rule, that says "if the original owner of the notebook doesn't write in it for 13 days, they will die." And L will deduce something like: "Well, if Light's name is written in it, and 13 days pass without writing, Light doesn't die, he's not the original Kira." I'll look like just another puppet of the first one because of how easy it is, for example, to write "accident" and the person will die from any kind of accident depending on the situation or place. The same goes for the description: "He will use all his resources and intelligence to the fullest to systematically eliminate criminals and not let himself be caught.”This plan idea works well, now that I can't use Misa, Misa will be the bait so that Rem takes the place of the executor... but I must go further, another Kira...yes, I know.

         Hotel

Misa- I beg you... kill me

L-Will you confess that you are the second Kira? There is not a single piece of evidence to prove your innocence.

Misa-No! I don't know anything about second Kira, what are you talking about!

Misa-Go ahead and kill me already!, kill me!

Rem- Misa... are you asking me to kill you?

Misa- Yes... Kill me.

Rem - if Misa dies, light too.

Misa-No!

Rem think-misa, are you willing to die for him?

Misa - If you don't do anything, I'll do it myself!

L- Watari, stop her! Don't let her bite her tongue.

L think:Could this behavior be induced by Kira? Could she already be under her control?...

 Yagami House

 Rem appears..

Rem-light, it's about Misa, she relinquished possession of her Death Note..She begged me to kill her, I told her to help her move on, she said no, surely out of fear that they might blame you, so I told her about the memory loss when losing the death note, but she will not lose most of the memories unrelated to the death note, including her love for you Light.

Light thinks: She must have lost her memories about the Death Note, even L's name and the ability of her eyes... so the Death Note has the power to extract fragments of specific memories related to the Death Note from the cerebral cortex. Hard and soft boundaries don't matter, even if you have a hard-core memory that you can't forget your whole life, whether it's a trauma or something related to the Death Note. If you relinquish ownership of it, you lose all trace and suffering from that memory. Incredible.

Rem-She relinquished her memories and gave you ownership of the new Death Note, If you are not able to save her, I swear I will kill you.

Light- Understood, I have a rough idea of how L thinks, but both you and Ryuk will have to listen to me and do what I tell you.

Light-Ryuk, I think it's time to say goodbye... Ryuk - Huh?!!!

Chapter 12: strategic surrender

 Memory loss plan:

Light accompanied Rem and Ryuk to a forest... Light tells Ryuk to write the fake rules in Book A... Light decided to bury notebook B in the ground. Light will make me imprisoned and monitored 24/7 like Misa...

Light learns that when he loses his memory, he's determined to pursue the Kira case. He will go with L to chase Kira... Light was able to imagine the situation at that timeFake Previous Kira:

Light anticipates that suspicion will persist even after the new Kira's arrest. To solve this, he fabricates the existence of a previous Kira. He writes the name of a criminal in his forties. Under Death Note control, The man writes six names, all assigned to traffic accident deaths dated between one month and four days before Light touched the notebook. (This is obviously a deception on Light's part; the pages are fake, but placing them at the beginning of the Death Note, along with the other evidence, implies that there was a first Kira, one who, instead of continuing to kill, decided to pass the torch to someone else, writing Light Yagami's name so that he would use his intelligence and every possible measure to avoid capture.) That was the deception. The pages used are ordinary paper, and the victims are random. After providing handwriting samples and fingerprints, the criminal writes his own suicide note and dies. The note contains a poetic farewell with a psychological profile different from Light's.

Four days before Kira's first murder in Russia, Light writes the name of a programmer involved in illegal files and abuse. Using the Death Note, Light forces him to create a news website documenting staged Japanese accidents, complete with exact dates, names, and fabricated photographs. A coded headline directs researchers directly to the site.

The alleged original Kira even writes Light Yagami's name, instructing him to continue the mission, stating heart disease as the reason for retirement…

Ryuk - Are you sure about this, Light?

Light- Yes, we are in a situation where there is hardly anything else we could do.

Ryuk- So the Death Note I gave you is buried forever in this forest?

Light- From now on, I'm going to buy myself some time. When I truly want to lose my memories and possession of the Death Note, I will say—and I will say it when I'm locked up—the word "renounce." When I say that word at that moment, it means I want to renounce the notebook, understand?

Ryuk- understood.

    Hotel(6 hours laters…)

Misa-perverted man, are you aware that kidnapping is a crime?, If you let me go, I won't tell anyone, I promise!.

Aikawa- Well, his behavior certainly changed as soon as he woke up.

Matsuda-Maybe she's just acting..

L-..., Matsuda, llama a mogi.

Matsuda- eh?, okey..

L in phone- mogi Did you tell Misa that she's suspected of being the second Kira?

Mogi: Yes, I whispered it in her ear while she was being tied up. She heard it, and what's more, she wasn't resisting; it seemed like she was accepting it.

L think-... Previously, his behavior fit the profile of the second Kira, so why is she trying to deceive us now?

L- Misa..

Misa-whats, pervert man! Have you decided to let me go?

L-We were interrogating you a moment ago, and then you were asking us to kill you, so why are you talking about a perverted man now? Have you forgotten everything?

Misa-What are you talking about? You're the one who captured me, you don't intend to undress me, do you?!

L-... Misa, answer, why do you think you were detained?

Misa- Why? Because I'm a model. He must be an obsessive fan.

Matsuda explodes and yells at Misa to stop pretending.

Misa- I'm scared... what are you going to do to me? Let me go now!

L- amane...let's continue the conversation, how did you meet Light Yagami, do you remember him?

Misa-Huh? Because I wouldn't remember my boyfriend.

l thinks - before he refused to talk to Light, and now he's just blurting it out like nothing happened…

 a phone just rings

L-is Light…Turn off the TV and the audio.

L answers the phone: Yes?, ok, well..

Mr. Yagami: Is my son coming?

L thinks: Okay Light, what do you plan to do now?...

Light- Ryuuzaki, just like I told you on the phone... it's likely that I'm Kira…

Mr. Yagami: That's ridiculous! Why are you saying that, Light?!Please tell me this is a joke?!.

L thinks - Amane hasn't said anything, yet she didn't try to defend herself against the accusations leveled against her... whereas you, Light, there isn't a single shred of evidence that you're Kira.
