Things to look forward to this week and next week
Tuesday 27th June
E Safety Evening 7pm - 8.30pm.
Wednesday 28th June
Year 3 & 5 Music Concert 9.15. 9am tea/coffee/biscuits.
School Values Celebration 2pm - Year 5 will be leading this with Father Jason. 2.30 tea/ coffee/ biscuits.
Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th July
Yr 6 transition days for SBS and DGS. All other children to school as normal.
Tuesday 4th July
Moving on afternoon and ‘Meet the Teacher’ after school. Children will spend the afternoon in their new class with their new teacher. Please pick up your child/ren from their normal class then go and see the new room and meet the teacher.
If your child is moving from Year 2 to Year 3 please wait until 3.15 as Key Stage 2 finish at 3.10.

From the Headteacher
On Thursday 22nd June Hagbourne Swim Team took part in the Didcot and District swimming gala. The children all swam their socks off and did the school proud. We Came a very respectable 5th out of 12 schools. Well done team
Four Legged Fiends and Fruit...
Last week I wrote to tell you that there will be a ‘no food outside policy’ for the rest of this term as we want to get rid of the four legged pests. There will be no tuck shop from this week but we will be providing free fruit for the whole school. You may still bring a healthy snack from home if needed.
I notice that a lot of children eat snacks after school and this is fine, as sometimes they are hungry, but please help us to get rid of these pests by taking all your rubbish home.

Magician and Disco
There will be an after-school Tea Party and Magic Show for Reception and Key Stage 1 children on Thursday 6th July, and an evening disco for Key Stage 2 (6-7.30pm). Further information will be sent by Parentmail this week and can also be found here
If anyone with a child attending the disco would be willing to stay and help out, we would be very grateful. If you think you might be able to help, please email email@example.com, speak to a member of the PTA in the playground, or drop us a line via the PTA Facebook page.
PTA Annual General Meeting 7th July
The Hagbourne CE Primary School Parent Teacher Association will hold its Annual General Meeting on Friday July 7th at 7.30pm at school. As members of the PTA, all parents and carers are invited to attend.
The AGM will include a brief review of the previous year’s events, the Treasurer’s report for the year, and the election of PTA Committee members for the forthcoming academic year.
Nominations should be sent in advance of the AGM, for existing committee members willing to stand for re-election and for anyone wishing to stand for the first time. If you are interested in joining the Committee or would like any further information about what is involved in being a Committee Member, please speak to Aliki Pantos or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
This year we also intend to vote on amending the PTA constitution which was last updated in 1971. A draft of the proposed new constitution can be found here. If anyone has any comments or queries about this please contact Aliki Pantos or any member of the PTA.
The AGM is not expected to last more than about twenty minutes. It will be followed by the last PTA meeting of the year at which we will be discussing plans for events in the next school year.

Whole School Arts and Crafts Day - Can you help?
Are you able to help or share an arty skill or craft?, it can be anything from knitting to cake decorating for our Arts & Craft day in July (date tba).
Please contact Mrs Surtell or the School Office.
Water Bottles and Sun Cream
Now that the weather has warmed up, please ensure that your child comes to school with a filled, named water bottle - just water please, no squash etc. as this attracts flies & wasps.
These can, and will, be refilled during the day as required, so don’t worry if your child comes home with a full bottle as it will have recently been topped up!
Your child should also have a named sun hat with a brim and please also apply a 12 hour sun cream at home. If you wish for your child to reapply suncream before lunch they will need to do this themselves and you should send in a named bottle of cream to be kept in your child’s school bag. Staff are not allowed to apply suncream to pupils.
We always welcome donations of books for our library, so if you are planning a clear out please think of the school.

Public Health England have updated their poster regarding infection control in schools and other childcare locations, it contains lots of handy information regarding the appropriate amount of time to be off school with a variety of complaints and therefore is a useful reference tool.
