GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program                Deadline:  January 3, 2020

  • demonstrate at school, at the workplace, and within the community attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship;
  • demonstrate strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 grade point average/4.0 scale or equivalent);
  • be citizens of the United States of America;
  • be current high school seniors attending high school in the United States (students living on U.S. Armed Forces base and homeschooled students are also eligible); and
  • plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study toward a bachelor’s degree at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year.

Kenneth B. McClain Scholarship                                                      Deadline: January 11,2019

2:30 pm

  • A graduating senior from LPS OR an active, laid off, or retired LEA member’s child graduating from high school will be awarded $1500.  After that student is selected, one senior from CHS will be awarded $1000.
  • Applicants need to show a minimum ACT composite of 28 or SAT total of 1310.
  • Applicants should have a 4.0 GPA or rank in the top 3% of their graduating class.

LEA Community College or Technical/Trade School Scholarship

                                                                                    Deadline: January 11, 2019

  • One graduating senior from LPS will be awarded a $1000 scholarship.
  • Applicants must be accepted to a two-year community college or technical/trade         school as a full time student.
  • Applicants should have a 3.0 GPA.
  • Consideration will be given for involvement in extracurricular activities, community service projects, and employment.

NALS of Michigan Scholarship Award                         Deadline: February 15, 2020

  • The scholarship is available to members and non-members of NALS of Michigan who are enrolled in a school of advanced education in the legal field.
  • One Annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000.
  • Must be a high school senior or enrolled in a school of advanced education or a NALS Michigan Member.
  • Must be a resident of Michigan and be enrolling in a Michigan school or advanced education in the legal field.

Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship                         Deadline: January 17, 2020

  • Be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • Be high school seniors who are currently enrolled in or who have completed an advanced placement computer science course or who have taken an advanced placement computer science test.
  • Be planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year majoring in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or other computer related field of study.

Ryan Fischer Legacy Scholarship                         Deadline:  January 20, 2020

Criteria:        

  • Senior in High School with a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
  • Accepted to a university or universities - Scholarship made payable to university only
  • Must have lettered in at least two varsity sports including hockey                
  • Must be of high moral character, demonstrate a strong faith in God, a love for this country and be committed to community service                
  • Must also demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship, exceptional leadership, integrity and a positive attitude.

The Bank of America Student Leaders Summit                Deadline:  January 31, 2020

Washington D.C.

As a Student Leader, you will participate in an eight-week paid internship at a local nonprofit organization where you will learn first-hand about the needs of your community and the critical role nonprofits play. In addition, you will learn valuable civic, social and business leadership skills. Each Student Leader will attend the Student Leaders Summit held in Washington, D.C. where you will learn how government, business and the nonprofit sector work together to address critical community needs.

To become a Student Leader, you must:

  • Currently be a junior or senior in high school
  • Be able to participate in an 8-week paid internship at a local nonprofit organization and work 35 hours a week
  • Be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship through the end of September
  • Be able to participate in a week-long Student Leaders Summit in Washington, DC (July 10-15, 2016) (All expenses paid. This week will be part of your 8-week experience.)
  • Be a student in good standing at your school
  • Obtain a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, or school administrator.

The Princeton Prize in Race Relations                        Deadline: January 31, 2020

  • The Princeton Prize in Race Relations recognizes and rewards high school students who have had a significant positive effect on race relations in their schools or communities through their volunteer efforts.
  • The award is $1000, and winners will also be invited to an all expense paid trip to Princeton University to attend the Princeton Prize Symposium which will be held in the spring of 2016.

Michigan Council of Women in Technology

An applicant must be a female high-school student (entering college), undergraduate or graduate level student who is:

  • a resident of the State of Michigan
  • a United States Citizen
  • a student with a 3.0 GPA or better
  • enrolled (or will be enrolled) in an Information Technology program
  • each applicant must be enrolled during the grant period in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program in majors such as: Information Systems, Business Applications, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Assurance, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Digital Forensics, Business Analytics for Information Science, Software Engineering. This is not a complete list but rather is intended to serve as examples.

Discover Student Loans Scholarship Award                Deadline January 31, 2020

  • Award $5,000
  • Open to residents of the fifty (50) United States, the District of Columbia, and the US territories
  • At least sixteen (16) years old at the time of entry.
  • Must also be high school senior students who will be or college students who are enrolled at least half-time in a Bachelor's or Associate's degree program or graduate program at an eligible school within one (1) year of winner notification/confirmation or parent/legal guardians of students that satisfy the above eligibility requirements.

Westland Community Foundation Scholarship                Deadline: January 31, 2019

  • Students who are Westland residents.
  • Students must exhibit interest and demonstrate success in a career/technical/vocational program and/or work experiences.
  • Scholarships are awarded to selected students of either the Livonia or Wayne/Westland school districts.
  •  Awards are intended for students who may not necessarily be interested in attending a traditional four-year university.

Inkster Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Deadline February 1, 2020

  •  Applicant must matriculate in an accredited college, university, community college, trade or vocational school during the fall 2020 semester.
  • Scholarship application and supporting documents will be accepted on a rolling basis, but must be either received or postmarked by February 1, 2020. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • If planning to attend a college or university, the applicant must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • If planning to attend a community college, vocational or trade school, the applicant must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Michigan Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Scholarship (MIAAA)

                                                                Deadline:  February 1, 2020

 The MIAAA is offering six $1,000 scholarships again this year to graduating senior student-athletes.  

Each high school in Michigan may select one male and one female student-athlete.  The school’s Athletic Director must be a member of the MIAAA in order to nominate student-athletes and to be considered for the scholarships.

·          Student-athletes must meet the following criteria to be nominated:

o    A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale

o    One Letter of Support from a school staff member

o    Must have earned a Varsity Letter in at least two different sports during their high school career

o    Complete application with approval signatures from Athletic Director and Principal

o    Application must be typed

NFL Alumni Detroit Chapter Scholarship  

Deadline:  February 1, 2020

No later than 5 PM  

  • NFL ADC supports two $2,500 scholarships (one male athlete and one female athlete)
  • Overall High School G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher
  • OR ACT minimum score of 19

Western Michigan University Foundation Scholarship              Deadline February 15, 2020

  • Award amount $60,000 over four years / $15,000 per year
  • 3.7+ weighted cumulative GPA
  • Must be a first-year student enrolling in the fall immediately following high school graduation.
  • Admissible to WMU
  • Have verified financial need based on one or more of the following criteria
      -Student is enrolled in or eligible to participate in the Federal Free or Reduced Price Lunch program (FRPL)
      -Student is a ward of the state, an orphan, or in foster care
      -Student is homeless, as determined by their district’s McKinney-Vento Liaison
      -Student is undocumented.

National Co-op Scholarship Program                              Deadline: February 15, 2020

  • As the largest independently sponsored merit cop-op scholarship program in the United States, the National Commission will award 160 merit scholarships. These merit co-op scholarships will be awarded to students who plan to participate in college cooperative education at one of the NCCE Partner College and Universities listed: Drexel University, Johnson & Wales University, Kettering University Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Cincinnati, University of Toledo, Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Student Distracted Driving Awareness Billboard Design Challenge 2020

  • This essay competition is on the following topic: “Lead by Example: Reality or Fiction
