Define online community as any group that you interact with and communicate with via internet or the web.  

Have students quickly write down the online communities they are involved in.  Have a few students read their lists.  Should include Facebook, Flickr, etc.

Discussion and assignment:

What is the online world?  What does it mean to be a digital citizen?  What do we need to know about the Digital World as we move forward?

Students are assigned a two page essay based on the above questions.  Assuming the 5 day lesson is taught Monday-Friday, essay would be due on Monday.
