Dear Parents/Guardians,
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the upcoming Forestwood 7th grade field trip to LLELA (Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area). I have received your information either through the interest form or by seeing that you have signed up in Voly for the LLELA opportunity.
To make sure our records are accurate, please review the following:
- If you have signed up in Voly but have not filled out the interest form, please complete the interest form using the link below.
- If you filled out the interest form and indicated that you signed up in Voly, please note that this confirms you are signed up in the general Forestwood volunteer system, but you also need to sign up for the specific LLELA volunteer opportunityusing the links below.
What will the trip include?
- Small student groups (each with an adult chaperone) will walk the Bittern Marsh Trail. Students will lead experiences, observations, and discussions on topics such as tropism, decomposition, organism adaptations, succession, and erosion. (Approx. 2 hours)
- Students will participate in restoring an area of native plants to promote biodiversity and support the restoration of the Northern Bobwhite Quail.
- Students will perform field assessments as “wildlife biologists” to survey habitat quality and determine whether the site is suitable for bobwhite quail release and reintroduction.
Important Details for Chaperones
- Each student will receive a separate notice with their assigned field trip date.
- Chaperones must be available from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the day of the trip.
- Be prepared to walk approximately 5 miles throughout the day.
- All chaperones must have a completed LISD Volunteer Background Check.
