Youth Advisory Board Description

Purpose: The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) aims to empower young individuals to actively  participate in decision-making processes for the youth mental health empowerment conference, ‘She’s THAT Girl’. The board serves as a platform for youth voices to be heard and implemented, fostering  collaboration with peers and the overall community.  

This is a volunteer-based position, in which each member will receive community service hours  and a reference letter after the conference. However, a stipend may be available with the  availability of sponsorship opportunities afforded to the conference.

Responsibilities:

Advocacy: Represent the interests and concerns of youth in the community to include these  as workshop topics for the conference.

Collaboration: Work with local organizations, leaders, and peers to plan, organize and  facilitate the STG conference.

Event Planning: Assist in organizing youth-focused events, workshops, and initiatives.

Leadership Positions:

o President

As President, this person will serve as the leader of the YAB by  

communicating directly with conference host (Quinandria Lee) before  

board meetings about the agenda, keeping attendance of meetings and  

holding members accountable to assigned responsibilities. This position  

will be chosen by Quinandria Lee!

o Secretary

As Secretary, this person will take notes during each meeting, keep  

attendance of meetings and submit notes to the President and Quinandria  

Lee after meetings.  

o Social Media Engagement Team

This team is responsible for posting content on all social media sites twice a week and keeping up with social media engagement.

  • Content Creation Team

This team is responsible for creating social media content via canva to be posted on all platforms.

  • IG Live Team

This team is responsible for organizing one IG live event per month, leading the live and engaging with participants.

  • Tik Tok Team

This team is responsible for creating and posting Tik Tok content that follows trends while promoting the conference. One post per week.

o Volunteer Coordinator Assistant (1)  

As the Volunteer Coordinator Assistant, this person will work closely with  the Volunteer Coordinator to help train volunteers for the conference and  be a point of contact during the day of the conference.  

o Workshop Facilitators (all members)

All YAB members will serve as workshop facilitators (except the  

Volunteer Coordinator Assistant) during the conference.

Youth Advisory Board Description

Membership Requirements:

Open to youth (middle and high school girls) who have attended the ‘She’s THAT Girl’ conference or ‘Night in the Blue’ event with Ms. Lee.

Members should demonstrate a commitment to community service and an interest in  advocacy.

A diverse representation of backgrounds and experiences is encouraged.

Meetings:

Members are required to attend all scheduled meetings and the conference.  The board will meet virtually bi-weekly during the Fall/Winter months; however,  meetings will switch to weekly during the Spring leading up to the conference.  

Content Creation Day:

o There will be a scheduled date in the Spring for a social media content creation  day! Attendance will be required. (will be a weekend)

       Conference Merch Day:

  • The team will meet for a merch day that will include creating, organizing and packaging merch for the conference. Dates will be announced once scheduled. (will be a weekend) Attendance will be required.
