Conker’s Bad Fur Day Console Differences
All versions of the game are 1.0
Nintendo 64
- Attempts to run at 30 / 25 FPS
- NTSC or PAL
- Loads slower than Xbox One consoles and significantly slower than Xbox Series consoles (There appears to be no difference in loading times between the NTSC & PAL regions)
- The camera gets stuck on walls and moves more erratically more frequently
- Controller can be recalibrated for faster movement in specific areas:
- All ladders
- All ropes
- Mugged (For better control, there is no speed difference here)
- The tank section
- Controller cannot be remapped
- L button is used to skip cutscenes
- Jump height / distance is slightly greater
- Hive Skip is much easier to perform on NTSC (~10 seconds faster, can’t be done on PAL)
- Clipping into the barn can be performed due to lag
- Haybot 1 cannot be quick hit if he’s standing still
- Haybot 2 spins slower when stunned
- You can only do 1 regular jump at the start of Frying Tonight
- The sunflower cutscene after grabbing all the tickly bees takes longer to start
- Shit Clip can be done with a buffered input
- It’s more difficult to turn the pooballs without letting go
- Fire imps take longer to be put out by your pee when drunk
- The cutscene skip coming out of the vault in Bats Tower can be done with a buffered input
- The blades cycles are slower
- Pushing the first rock in Rock Solid slows down going up to the switch
- Lap Skip is much easier to perform, albeit still difficult for most
- The jump to the lever at the start of Spooky is easier
- Aiming overall is less sensitive
- Tediz appear to shoot you more often
- It’s extremely unlikely to make it to the door loading zone without dying after shooting the big lock after Rodent
- Calibrating the controller can be used to skip knocking both platforms down in the tank section (~15 seconds faster to skip both)
- Alien takes an additional spin to get off the ground to throw
Rare Replay (Xbox One X / Xbox One S)
- Runs at a more stable 30 FPS
- NTSC only
- Various sections run faster overall
- Loads faster than N64 consoles and significantly slower than Xbox Series consoles (The One X model runs ~35 seconds faster than the One S / Original model)
- The camera is much more cooperative
- Controller cannot recalibrate
- Controller can be remapped more to your liking
- View button is used to skip cutscenes
- Jump height / distance is slightly lower
- Hive Skip can be performed but is extremely difficult
- Barn Clip cannot be performed
- Haybot 1 can be hit right away when standing still
- Haybot 2 spins faster when stunned
- You can do 2 regular jumps instead of 1 at the start of Frying Tonight
- The sunflower cutscene after grabbing all the tickly bees starts sooner
- It’s easier to keep turning the pooballs without letting go
- The moving platform in Cogs Tower moves much faster
- Spinning the cogs goes much faster
- Shit Clip can still be buffered
- Fire imps can be put out by your pee much faster when drunk
- The cutscene skip coming out of the vault in Bats Tower can still be buffered
- The Great Mighty Poo fight has a slight chance to softlock in the first phase
- The blades cycles are faster
- Pushing the rocks in Rock Solid don’t slow down
- Lap Skip is much more difficult
- The jump to the lever at the start of Spooky is more difficult
- Aiming overall is more sensitive
- Tediz appear to miss more often in most spots
- It’s far more likely to make it to the door loading zone without dying after shooting the big lock after Rodent
- You have to use the context pads to knock the platforms down for the tank section
- Alien can be thrown in one less spin
Rare Replay (Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S)
- Runs at a very stable 30 FPS
- Loads significantly faster than all other consoles (There is no difference between Series X & Series S models)
- Music glitches occur more frequently
- Hive Skip cannot be performed
- Shit Clip has a much smaller timing window, this requires a timed input that cannot be buffered
- The cutscene skip coming out of the vault in Bats Tower needs to be timed / mashed and cannot be buffered
- The Great Mighty Poo fight was far more likely to softlock during the first phase (This bug has been fixed as of June 2021)
- Lap Skip is ridiculously difficult and requires TAS-like precision
TL;DR
Rare Replay on Xbox Series S or X is the fastest version. All Xbox consoles are identical apart from loading times and the slight variation in frame drops. Despite a few console exclusive time saves, N64 is the slowest with the slowest loads and most frame drops leading to slower sections overall.
