Visual guide to local update updating a OnePlus device with root
1. Ensure that you have version 3 of the Signal Fix module is installed. This has a new feature essential in Step 5. Navigate to Settings\System & update\Software Update. Use the 3 dot menu at the top right and select Local install.
2. The full OTA file should already be at the root of your phone (not in any folder.) Hit your device model number to select it.
3. The install will automatically begin. Do not touch the device during install. When it’s finished, do not, do NOT, DO NOT hit the Restart now button.
4. Instead, launch your root manager (Magisk, KSU, or Apatch) and hit the top option. In there, select “Install to inactive slot” at the bottom. A warning will pop up and that’s okay. Hit the next button and select root will be installed on the slot you just installed the update on. Do not, do NOT, DO NOT hit the reboot button.
5. As the description of the Signal Fix module says, press the Action button now to prevent bootlooping.
6. Lastly, go back to the Software update app in step 3 and now hit the restart button. You’ll boot up into Android and your system will be updated and rooted. Enjoy!!!!
Happy flashing,
