tldr AliceBot is permanently offline. Longer explanation below

(Disclaimer: Information here about the new tools and discounts/pricing may not be accurate.  I am not a formal employee of Hunters and do not speak for them in any official capacity.)

Thanks everybody for all the games, I hope you had fun.  Check out the digital toolset Hunters has made, it’s pretty nice - if you had an authenticated AliceBot server, you get a discount on the toolset.

Other questions I’ve gotten:

Do you have a link to send some donations?

I appreciate it, but I’m ok.  Please send the donation in my name to GDQ during their next event, or if you’re the kind to forget and want to do it now, Child’s Play Charity.

Can I have the source code/assets?

Unfortunately no, that’s a Hunters call.  I will say that the bot was nothing particularly complex - I know how to code, but I didn’t know much Python before beginning, and there are basic bot guides you can follow.

Well, it's time.

Hi everyone, AliceBot's creator and programmer ThreadOfFate here. I am here with some sad news: AliceBot is going offline.

I want to be clear that this decision was reached mutually between myself and Hunters - everyone at Hunters that I've talked to throughout AliceBot's lifespan has been exceptionally kind, gracious, and enthusiastic about the bot's existence, and they have always given me the support I needed to keep the bot going.

Over the past few years, my life has gotten increasingly complicated and difficult, and I haven't been able to give AliceBot the attention it deserves. Hunters has also been working on their own digital toolset for quite some time, and I had always intended to step aside when that toolset was ready.

AliceBot began when I discovered Alice Is Missing and wanted to run it with a specific group of friends. The pandemic and physical distance presented challenges, and I decided to see if I could solve them myself. I had already made one or two small dice rolling bots, so a bot that handled a timer and a full game seemed like the next step.

Spencer's enthusiasm for the bot propelled me to improve it and distribute it, and it grew much larger than I ever thought would get.  I've received many compliments about the bot and I hold each one close to my heart. It has been a truly wonderful experience to be able to share this game with so many people.

To every person who has ever used AliceBot to play Alice Is Missing: Thank you. You made it worthwhile.

To Hunters Entertainment, who were behind me every step of the way and were eager to support this passion project: Thank you. Your love for this community is boundless.

To Spencer Starke, who developed this beautiful, wonderful, emotional game of Alice Is Missing: Thank you. You have made something truly, truly special.

Until next time,
