Fellow Democrats,
We are current and former Members of the Democratic National Committee. We were proud to steadfastly support Joe Biden in his run to defeat Donald Trump in 2020, and he followed his electoral college and popular vote win by becoming the best and most effective president in our lifetimes. We are deeply grateful to President Biden and his family for their decades of service to our nation, including the decision he made today to pass the torch of the Democratic nomination and American democracy itself to a new generation of public servants. We strongly and enthusiastically endorse Vice President Kamala Harris -- the candidate with the best experience and capacity to unite our Party and the United States -- for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. We ask that you join us.
President Biden’s legacy as U.S. Senator, Vice President, and President is secure. He has held big business accountable, cut pollution, created hundreds of thousands of new clean energy jobs, and protected more lands and water than any previous President. President Biden has been a leader for international stability, rebuilding our credibility and partnerships around the world in the wake of his predecessor’s pro-dictator, anti-American foreign policy.
President Biden brought our economy back from the disasters left by Donald Trump, creating millions of new jobs right here at home through the infrastructure bill and the CHIPS and Science Act. Every action he has taken on the economy has focused on supporting working families. He has canceled billions of dollars in student loans, ensuring that generations of Americans are better able to reach the American Dream while also reinvigorating the economy. There’s no question: Joe Biden has been the most pro-labor President this nation has ever seen.
President Biden lifted our nation after Donald Trump’s botched and uncaring “let them drink bleach” approach to Americans suffering and dying from the COVID pandemic. The President has been a forceful leader on increasing and protecting access to health care, especially women’s health which has been targeted by a radical and out-of-control Trump Supreme Court. He has fought to defend abortion rights at every turn, and he has expanded the Affordable Care Act to ensure coverage for every American.
This November, the very fate of American democracy is on the line. The weaponization of our justice system, jailing of political enemies, mass deportations, concentration camps, corrupt giveaways to wealthy billionaires, backtracking on climate commitments, dismantling international alliances, shredding safety nets, and the erosion of rights for women, people of color, and immigrants are all part of the Republican plan for America. Would-be dictator Donald Trump, J.D. Vance, and MAGA Republicans represent an existential threat to the freedom and prosperity of all Americans, and the world at large.
We believe our strongest candidate for President, who can best offer a clear, unifying vision for the future of the United States, is Vice President Kamala Harris.
As a former prosecutor, there is no one better to make the case for American democracy and against convicted felon Donald Trump than Kamala Harris. As California Attorney General, a U.S. Senator, and now as Vice President, Kamala Harris has dedicated her life in service to others. Vice President Harris is the strongest potential Democratic candidate who can best protect President Biden’s legacy and long list of accomplishments. She is, after all, the only person that can credibly claim the torch from the Biden-Harris Administration, which has led on a policy agenda that is widely popular among both base Democratic voters and the American people as a whole. She has shown resolve and fortitude in the face of racist and sexist attacks by MAGA Republicans. We also firmly believe that Vice President Harris and her Vice Presidential selection will help Democratic candidates for U.S. House, Senate, and in the states we need to win in November, enabling us to enact laws that truly benefit the American people.
We are well aware of the historical significance of this moment. We respect, appreciate, and are grateful to President Biden for all that he has done and continues to do for our country and the world. We respectfully urge delegates to the 2024 Democratic National Convention, and all voters in November, to support Kamala Harris for President of the United States.
