Review & Approve Minutes from August 2025 Meeting

- Success in selling extra food ordered
- We’d like to increase portion size of Chuck Wagon Tenders
- Still looking for volunteers (Mondays and Wednesdays)
- Jen Wagoner looking for sub, offering sub list communication options
- Hot Lunch order instruction email sent to all district staff this week
- New additions - Zane’s and Graze Station very well received
- Volunteers are great in their first 2 weeks!
Administration and Board of Education Introductions
- Dr. Adam Fineske, Superintendent
- Thanks OHSPA for kickoff breakfast for staff
- New rankings out: We’re #169 in nation, #3 in state, #1 in on area
- “Growing a green bear” theme for this year
- Waiting on “state report card”, excited for the result!
- School communications - moving district newsletter to once a month (Katie Cho)
- Jeremy and Ben to continue with weekly newsletters
- Ribbon cutting for new tennis courts next Monday 9/15
- District wide late state next Wednesday 9/17 (for teacher inservice)
- Distinguished alum event 9/18 and 9/19, celebrated at football game Friday
Tom Siloy - District Treasurer and CFO
- $1M increase due to levy money to 57 days cash on hand
Mr. Ben McMurray, JHHS Principal
- Thank you to OHSPA for line items and club support
- Foundry focus to continue to enhance that space
- Randall Johson returning to tutoring staff
- Deb Druillard joining as tutor
- Dr. Bill Miller working with Jessica Loudermilk for peer tutoring program
- Increase attendance at open house this year, due to date change
- Sports season half over, unbelievably!
- Counselor Crystal Burnwoth working on college admissions with seniors
- End of Quarter is October 17th
- Homecoming parade 10/10. Dance 10/11 at school, planned by sophomore class
- Conferences October 23rd and 24th, parents meet with selection of teachers
- Testing Day 10/8 -
- Grade 7-8: Programming
- 9th Grade: PSAT 8/9
- 10th Grade: Pre ACT
- 11th Grade: PSAT
- 12th Grade: college admissions and writing workshops

- Lantern Bug population under control thanks to students
- Moment of silence at school for 9/11
- 6th grade camp Monday-Wednesday next week
- Jeremy and Mr McKee excited to supervise
- Green lunch bins arriving this week - so excited!
- Bees everywhere, Frames on site all the time
- Author and Alum Kristin Strobel coming tomorrow to OHES and JHHS
- Edison Goes to Washington is her book
- Will read to kids, talk about being an author
- Chess club, “Lets Play in the Forest”, Run Club activities off to a great start!
- Blood cancer awareness month is this month
- Hot lunch is going wonderfully so far!
Kathy Lathrop, Board of Education President
- Board of Education overview
- 5 members serve on BOE, elected to 4 year terms
- Kathy and Maara Fink to be on ballot this Nov, Rob Gnepper rolling off
- Meet 2x a month ( 1st and 3rd Wed). meetings open to public
- Can send in thoughts and comments ahead of time to be shared
- Live streamed board meetings, agendas made public
- General oversight of financials, policies, high level district information
- 5 internal committees that all members sit on, and also liaise to district committees and support organizations
Topic on Month - Tom Siloy, District Treasurer/CFO - “Permanent Improvement”
- 5 year PI plan created
- Last fall walk through, set priorities for PI usage
- Example of how water damage in JHHS top floor rooms this summer moved up
- Stay tuned for future fiscal year projects with PI
- This year - 6ook to spend on PI
- But sending money to general fund to repay loan until 2026
- Only 200K to spend
- Parking lot asphalt sealing and striping every other year, rotating buildings
- JHHS music room: tiers removed, repainted and recarpeted, added new cabinets for music equipment (previous did not have locks), moveable risers for choir
- Bathroom partitions in OHES 5th and 6th grade hallway
- doors and partitions/stalls replaced (only 16k)
- Asbestos tile found in 4 classrooms - bumped up on priority list
- concreted sanded and sealed professionally (tiles removed)
- Shatter Resistant Safety film added to all glass doors (first story exterior) in both buildings
- Prevents unwanted people to enter by shattering glass
- OHES windows to be done this year. Tom applied for Grant to address ASAP
- New Adjustable Basketball hoops - thanks to OHSPA , Booster, Foundation, Village and District collaborative gifts
- OHES Music room - new carpet
- Overall - a lot of improvements for a small budget, good PI year.
- Questions:
- Jen Trembley - did you look at prop room tile in theater?
- Do you present yearly asbestos plans to PTO?
- Ben McMurray asked about clarification on the 2 Buses under repair
- One is 14 years old, one is 20 years old (and donated last year)
- Issues with busses being addressed, hoping to be fixed and returned next week
- Heather Phillips - with changing athletic confrences next year, what will bussing and driving look like for further distances for sports teams?
- Stay tuned for an update at next BOE board meeting, looking on a lease to own option for another (3rd) bus, we’re saving up
- AD Ryan is very good about looking at the analytics re: distances and logistics for sporting events
- Katie Cho - suggestion to have AD come speak about sports transportation
- Anjali Gupta: Options of a small fee per student for field trips and sports transport?
- Heather Phillips: Use of Google classroom for each activity? Clubs and sports addition?
- Parents can find info on PI plan on the website, on Tom’s Treasurer page under “additional resources”
- Operations page updated
- New PI Form added for Community Feedback submission,

- Made about 7k, sold about 366 packets in OHES
