Open Doors Center for Children
Position: Director
Status: Full Time/ Exempt
Location: Wadesboro, NC
Expected Hours of Work: Mon.- Fri., 7:00a.m.- 3 p.m., August 1- May 31. (Students and staff follow the Anson County Schools Traditional calendar.)
Salary: $38,000-$42,000, Commensurate with years of experience and credentials
Qualifications:
NC Child Care Rule
(a) Administrators of NC Pre-K sites shall have:
(1) A NC Principal’s License, or
(2) A North Carolina Early Childhood Administrator Credential (NCECAC) Level III, or
(3) hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any field with 18 semester hours in early childhood education and child development, and complete six semester hours in child care administration or nine semester hours in business administration or a combination of child care administration and business administration.
Accountability: Reports to the Open Doors Board/First United Methodist Church
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Conducts regular performance evaluations and feedback on employees
- Supervises all staff conduct and carries out personnel policies
- Consults with Open Doors Board regarding hiring, dismissal, and disciplinary issues of staff according to the policy handbook
- Conducts regular staff meetings to communicate the policies of the program
- Establishes all facility plans, policies, and regulations, and communicates these to staff, parents, children, and community
- Schedules daily activities and assures that additional staff is available as needed to maintain staff-child ratios
- Provides for the safety, security, and comfort of staff and children in the facility
- Performs various record-keeping functions to maintain the operations of the program
- Provides daily pick up and delivery of breakfast and lunch from Wadesboro Elementary School to Open Doors Center
- Conducts and documents all state required drills
- Maintains the highest standard of professional behavior at all times in the program
- Maintains high expectations for self, students, and staff performance
- Maintains a level of dress that is conducive to physical interactions with children, but that is also professional in appearance
- Maintains current First Aid and CPR training
- Demonstrates effective problem solving skills
- Accepts responsibility for the operations of the program, evaluates its effectiveness, and develops strategies for improvement
- Performs related duties as assigned
- Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality
- Establishes and maintains cooperative and effective working relationships with others
- Adheres to the appropriate code of ethics
- Maintains open communication with partners
- Works actively with teachers to maintain high curriculum standards
- Seeks out professional resources to improve leadership effectiveness
- Develops strategies to achieve a balance between personal and professional obligations
- Demonstrates knowledge of child custody, child abuse, special education, confidentiality, antidiscrimination, insurance liability, contact, and labor laws peritain to program management
- Demonstrates knowledge of applicable codes and regulations-building, zoning, fire, safety, health, sanitation, and American with Disabilities Act-as they relate to the delivery of early childhood/school-age program services
- Demonstrates the ability to relate to staff and board members of diverse racial, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
- Interviews, hires, supervises, and provides appropriate orientation to new teachers and support staff
- Maintains guidelines established by North Carolina Division of Child Development standards
- Collaborates with Anson County Partnership for Children, Regional Child Care Consultants, and community agencies to support students and families
- Communicates effectively with parents, staff, Anson County Partnership for Children, and the Open Doors Board through written and oral communication
- Maintains and adheres to the board approved financial budget
