KYR / Whistle Packet Making Reference Sheet

 Purpose

Create and distribute Know Your Rights (KYR) / Whistle Packets to help community members stay safe and informed.

Materials Needed

•  Whistles
  
•  Plastic Bags
  
• Whistle / Stay Loud Zine Printable: English Version | Spanish Version and consolidated version (4 per page here)
  
• Lanyards (Optional)
  
• Know Your Rights “Red Card” Printable
  

 How to Assemble

1. Place a whistle and Know Your Rights Red Card inside a plastic bag.
   
2. Add a Whistle/Stay Loud zine (English or Spanish, or both).
   
3. Optionally, include a lanyard for easy carrying.

Where to Distribute

• Local small businesses
  
• Little Free Libraries
  
• Local mutual aid groups or pantries
  
• Neighborhood events
  

Tips for hosting own KYR Whistle Event

• Papercutter is helpful if needing to cut red cards or quarter size whistle instructions
• Place materials for assembly in bins or use cardboard boxes with flaps folded in, to keep supplies organized
• Helpful to have bins for completed packets
• Encourage participants to bring a bag where they can take completed packets and distribute within their own communities, organizations, etc.
