Texas Scrabble Classic 2027

Format:

  • 5 game early bird; 20 game main event
  • NWL23 - three to four similarly sized divisions based on director’s discretion. Play ups available at director’s discretion.
  • Collins – 5 point challenge - if at least eight players
  • The director reserves the right to adjust the size of divisions and prize structure based on attendance.

Prizes:

  • Over $8,000 prize pool is guaranteed!
  • Guaranteed prize of at least $1,500 for winner of Main Event Division A.
  • Minimum first through fourth place cash prizes for each division.

Registration: $30 EB entry fee. $140 ME entry fee through October 31. $150 ME entry fee after October 31. Limited to 100 players. We will maintain a waiting list if we reach capacity. All players must be members of NASPA (http://www.scrabbleplayers.org/).

SPC Satellite Event: A complimentary registration to the 2027 Scrabble Players Championship will be provided for every 50 players.

January 15, 2027 – Early Bird

  • 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm - registration
  • 2:00 pm - 7:00pm - 5 games

January 16, 2027 – Main Event

  • 8:30 am - 9:00 am - arrival, registration, and set up
  • 9:00 am - 1:00 pm - games 1-4
  • 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm - lunch
  • 2:15 pm - 6:15 pm - games 5 - 8

January 17, 2027 – Main Event

  • 8:30 am - 9:00 am - arrival and set up
  • 9:00 am - 1:00 pm - games 9-12
  • 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm - lunch
  • 2:15 pm - 6:15 pm - games 13-16

January 18, 2027 – Main Event

  • 8:30 am - 9:00 am - arrival and set up
  • 9:00 am - 1:00 pm - games 17-20
  • 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm - prize ceremony

Hotel: Partner hotel bloc TBD. No commuter fee.

Location: The early bird and main event are held inside the historic Coates Chapel on the UTSA Southwest Campus, located on the Riverwalk in downtown San Antonio. The UTSA SW campus offers some free parking. There are many paid garages and street parking options nearby.

Equipment: Bring your own equipment and score sheets. Members of the San Antonio Scrabble club will provide a limited number of boards, tiles, racks, and timers.
