Part 1: Installation
- Download and run The Sims 1 Starter Pack Web Installer from my Github.
- Continue until you reach the Components page. Choose the components you’d like to install. (I don’t recommend changing the default settings).
- Continue to the directory page and choose where you would like to install “The Sims 1 Starter Pack” folder. (I don’t recommend changing the default settings).
- Next, the installer will download The Sims Complete Collection and The Sims 1 Widescreen Patcher by FaithBeam. When the download finishes, the patcher will launch automatically and you will need to patch the game before continuing.
- Click “Browse” to point the patcher to Sims.exe in “The Sims 1 Starter Pack\The Sims” folder.
- Set the resolution to match your screen (or the resolution you’d like to play at).
- Set the “Wrapper” dropdown to DDrawCompat.
- Click “Patch.”
- If asked to enable “Borderless Fullscreen” mode, click Yes.
- Close the patcher once it has finished patching the game.
- The installer will finish up and then complete.
- Use either “Sims.exe” or the desktop/start menu shortcuts created by the installer to launch the game.
- Enjoy! You can use Shift+F11 to open the config menu if you enabled DDrawCompat in the patcher.
How to unpatch the game:
- Find “Sims1WidescreenPatcher.exe” in your install directory. Open it.
- Point the patcher to Sims.exe in your install directory.
- Click “Uninstall.”
How to uninstall the game:
Either find The Sims 1 Starter Pack in add/remove programs and choose “Uninstall,” or launch the uninstaller from your Sims 1 Starter Pack folder.
Make sure there is nothing important/unrelated to the game in your “Sims 1 Starter Pack” folder before using the uninstaller.
