--- DISC 1 ---
D1-T1 0:01 ⨁
The name of this show is "News 14", broadcasting on June 12, 2003 from 14:00 to 15:00.
One of its most popular sections is "Hattatsu Shotengai", which introduces lively shopping districts across Japan.
D1-T1 0:31 ⨁
At 15:01, a huge humanoid-like object (hereinafter referred as the Giant) fell above Shinjuku. At the same time, a flying object similar to a red dragon is confirmed flying in the skies above the city. At that time, four bystanders were killed by fireballs, which seemed to come from that red dragon.
D1-T1 1:13 ⨁
At around 16:00, the mysterious Giant collapses. At that same time, the Air Self-Defense Force, 6th Air-Wing, 303rd Squadron shoots down the red dragon. After the Giant collapsed, the buildings and structures involved in the event were examined but were found mostly undamaged. The death toll from this incident rose to 56, most of these people were crushed to death by panicking crowds of bystanders.
D1-T2 0:01 ⨁
Devola and Popola are androids. They are in charge of all operations and management involving Project Gestalt and are called "Overseers". Overseers are required to file reports regularly and to continuously record events even after all humans have become Gestalts.
D1-T3 0:01 ⨁
February 14, 2008.
A large Legion outbreak is confirmed in the district between Yotsuya and Shinjuku.
The National Self-Defense Force Ichigaya, 2nd Ward units are asked to respond to the attack. The National Self Defense Force was reorganized in October 2004, after an outbreak of Legion, to coincide with the "Shinjuku Blockade Plan", and its deployments within Tokyo's 23 wards has been already completed.
D1-T3 1:08 ⨁
The moment a special specimen named "Red Eye'' was first discovered among Legion. At this point, it was still regarded simply as a "bigger Legion". Most Red Eye are huge, non-human-like creatures, although smaller ones and ones resembling humans have later been discovered too. A Red Eye is said to be born from the union of many Legions, but there are no accurate records or proofs of their birth.
D1-T3 1:55 ⨁
Human-eating Red Eyes are called "Absorption-Growth Individuals", and it was discovered that the more people they feed on, the bigger they grow. There are also "Flight-Bombing Individuals", "Submarine Individuals" and "Intelligence Individuals," et cetera.
D1-T3 2:30 ⨁
An estimated 250 casualties (excluding people infected with WCS) was recorded that day, after the airstrikes. The bombs were ordered to be dropped by the government, but some forces belonging to the United Nations were involved in the decision too. Later, this faction was reorganized into the Hamelin Organization, becoming the central force in the war against Legion.
D1-T5 0:01 ⨁
April 7, 2022, Conference Room 2, Ruling Party HQ Hall.
The meeting was attended by the General Secretary, The Chairman of the National Diet Committee and the Prime Minister.
D1-T5 1:28 ⨁
The term "Soviet" is used just because the politician is very old, but the correct term should be "Russia", as he cannot possibly be referring to the Soviet Union.
D1-T6 3:09 ⨁
The final electronic sound is made to indicate "the estimated number of living humans".
The count here confirms less than 830 million people.
D1-T7 0:36 ⨁
January 24, 2050. Yoyogi district.
D1-T7 0:42 ⨁
The corpse of his mother is inside a bucket Nier is carrying. The woman died of WCS and her corpse is now a mass of pure white salt.
D1-T7 1:15 ⨁
The sound of his mother's arm falling into the hole.
D1-T7 1:28 ⨁
The sound of his mother's foot falling into the hole.
D1-T7 1:39 ⨁
The sound of his mother's head falling into the hole.
D1-T7 2:02 ⨁
The sound of his mother's body being buried. Nier buried her in a patch of dirt by the railroad tracks, but the soil was so hard that he was only able to dig out about 20 centimeters.
D1-T7 3:29 ⨁
After the spread of WCS, the different ward shelters began handing out food supplies on a regular basis, but all these activities effectively ceased soon due to the dramatic increase of orphans and homeless people in Tokyo, which has made it impossible to keep up with the demand.
Conflicts over what little food is left are often occurring all over the city, and murders are becoming commonplace. At this point, society has come to accept that being attacked by a mob of hungry vagrants is more dangerous and likely to happen than being attacked by Legion.
D1-T7 3:51 ⨁
Level 2 warnings are for "Possibility of Legion Appearance". Level 1 warning indicates the "Possibility of Red Eye Appearance".
D1-T8 0:01 ⨁
The house where Kainé lives is a western-style mansion, fashioned as a large residence. It is surrounded by a large forest and there is even a small lake in the garden. It was a gift of gratitude from the government to her grandmother, Curly (or Kaali), for her heroic deeds. The fact the population of Tokyo was decimated is one of the factors that made it possible to build such a huge mansion there.
D1-T8 0:26 ⨁
The dog is a pure-white mongrel, about 1-2 years old, small breed.
D1-T8 0:48 ⨁
Curly suffers from PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) due to the last war and has lost control over her emotions.
D1-T8 2:44 ⨁
Kainé's grandparents were both ex elite soldiers. Her grandma, Curly, was a captain of the 13th Crusade and became a war hero for having defeated the last known Red Eye. In reality, however, Curly was the second-in-command in the 13th Crusade battalion, and she was not the captain who actually defeated the Red Eye.
Why is Curly being treated as that fabled captain? And what happened to the real captain? This information is regarded as the most important secret of the Crusaders and was never disclosed to the public.
D1-T9 0:01 ⨁
National Weapons Institute. A military research institute established in 2018 by the Japanese government to counter Hamelin institutions. However, its funds have been significantly reduced due to the runaway Weapon incident that occurred in 2026.
D1-T9 2:17 ⨁
Emil is a human-based magical Weapon created by the National Weapons Institute. He cannot age, but the researcher looking after him conducts various educational programs with him in secret, and the director tacitly approves of this.
D1-T10 0:01 ⨁
In front of Shinjuku Gyoen park. The police have come to check on a supposed Legion outbreak near the old Tokyo Metropolitan Government HQ.
Normally, the Self-Defense Forces would be in charge of Legion countermeasures, but due to the "End-of-Legion Declaration" issued by the Japanese government in 2033, Legion-related reports are basically considered hoaxes and transferred to the common local police forces.
D1-T10 1:56 ⨁
"Signals are hard to catch" is the policeman expressing himself the wrong way. What he should say is that "Signals aren't optimal, so it is difficult to hear the voice".
D1-T10 2:36 ⨁
The Red Eye that went berserk was called "Specimen B". Since it was said that Legion, including Red Eye, had all been exterminated, the specimen refers to a corpse used for mere research purposes. Up to this point, there are six different specimens, called from A through F, but information on their existences is top-secret and shared only to the Self-Defense Forces and a small number of politicians.
D1-T10 2:56 ⨁
Type-91 portable surface-to-air guided missile. A type of missile developed as a successor to the Stinger (a lightweight surface-to-air rocket carried by a single man), equipped by National Self-Defense Forces. It can be carried, operated and fired by a single person too. Since flying Legions have been discovered, this weapon is deployed by various units for anti-aircraft attacks.
D1-T11 0:02 ⨁
The National Weapons Institute holds regular tours. Initially requested by the opposition party concerned about their weapons buildups, it has now become a way to promote the research institute to the rest of the world, especially after the incident concerning Ultimate Weapon n.6.
D1-T11 0:47 ⨁
Hamelin Organization. An internal military organization created to fight Legion. It is a subordinate branch to the World Purification Organization, but it is rumored an internal feud has sparkled between the latter and the Hamelin Organization.
D1-T11 1:09 ⨁
Murasaki. A faux name for the National Weapons Institute. Before its establishment, the National Weapons Institute first aimed to develop new weapons in order to counter Hamelin Organization's, with its code name being "Murasaki" to be used in the government.
D1-T11 1:24 ⨁
Masayoshi Yura. Commander of the Anomalous Biological Organisms Countermeasures Division of the National Self-Defense Force and commander of the Shinjuku Area Defense Squadron.
D1-T12 2:32 ⨁
The situation has changed from a simple warning to an evacuation order due to the confirmed Legion outbreak.
D1-T13 0:29 ⨁
Yura is a young man who has been entrusted with a high position in the Self-Defense Force due to his clever mind and skillful ways of dealing with problems. However, he has a bad reputation among his subordinates and colleagues due to his violent behavior towards the weak.
D1-T13 1:15 ⨁
SS22 (commonly known as "Bible"). A suppression weapon made by Hamelin, which creates a special coil by concentrating Maso particles inside a 40cm octagon. Its effect is to suppress the power of those who possess Maso (Legions, etc). However, the effect can only be observed on small subjects. In addition, Yura says here that it is the "latest suppression device made by the Hameling Organization", but if he speaks the truth, it is unclear why Hamelin is still developing anti-Legion weapons in a world where Legions have been (allegedly) been destroyed.
D1-T15 1:07 ⨁
P-22, a new version of the anti-legion weapon P-11 that has been first used to battle against Legion.
After P-22's success, the development of P-33 models, equipped with an autonomous movement function, began.
D1-T15 1:28 ⨁
GMS stands for Grapple Management System.
D1-T15 1:30 ⨁
FCS stands for Fire Control System.
D1-T15 3:12 ⨁
A shrubbery. It's a flowerbed of white flowers (unknown species) that Curly tends to.
D1-T16 1:08 ⨁
Medium-MAT. A basic offensive weapon used against ground-moving Legion, with the second most powerful anti-tank projectile (Heavy-MAT), which was built as a medium-range anti-tank missile.
D1-T17 1:12 ⨁
Laser devices were almost never used until the 2010s, but progress in the Maso research has made it possible to develop stable, high-powered weapons with it.
Advanced Maso studies haven't exclusively brought innovations to the military field, but it also led to technological breakthroughs in all aspects of communication and semiconductors development.
D1-T17 4:41 ⨁
In the drama, it is called a "Absorption-Growth Red Eye". It is the first time a type able to birth more Legion from within its body was observed. However, since there is no current name to define this species yet, Yura simply calls it "Absorption-Growth-Individual" as the type that creature resembles the most.
D1-T17 5:13 ⨁
The "spear" created by the Legion's body impales her grandfather's abdomen.
D1-T17 5:53 ⨁
His upper body is trampled by the Red Eye.
In that moment, fragments of her grandfather's internal organs stick to the right half of Kainé's face.
D1-T17 8:45 ⨁
After the Red Eye's rampage, Masayoshi Yura fled the scene and became a most-wanted by the police, but he was never caught or arrested. He changed his name in "Tyrann" and succeeded in being Gestaltized, but his flesh-and-blood Replicant was discovered to be his own and immediately disposed of right after its creation.
Yura, after losing the body he was supposed to someday return to, continued existing as a Gestalt and kept committing the illegal act of taking over other people's Replicants to survive for the following 1000 years.
D1-T18 1:21 ⨁
Kainé's parents are reportedly dead, but they actually never existed.
In truth, the girl was a "program baby" created by combining Curly and her husband's own genes with Legion's combat data. After the death of the last Legion was declared, Curly and everyone else involved regretted their insane experiment, so the couple took Kainé in and raised her as their own.
The trigger to initiate Kainé's combat-form was sealed shut, but that seal was lifted the moment she witnessed the tragedy involving her grandparents.
D1-T18 4:53 ⨁
Ryu no Kai (The Dragon Squad). A coup d'etat unit created by Yura from within the Self-Defense Forces ranks. All the soldiers who were guarding Curly's residence that day fall under said category.
D1-T19 0:07 ⨁
After a discussion between the World Purification Organization and the Japanese Government, who feared reports about the return of Legion would have caused more international turmoil and panic, it was deemed the Red Eye incident to never be officially recorded anywhere. The whole incident was simply described as an attempted coup d'etat against Japan by the Self-Defense Force and the usage of their new weapons.
D1-T19 2:41 ⨁
"Male Subject A" refers to Nier.

D2-T1 0:01 ⨁
2058. Tokyo.
D2-T1 0:06 ⨁
Nier is a Gestalt, and he's able to maintain his own ego without turning into a mindless creature.
For this reason, he has been placed under the supervision of both the Japanese government and the World Purification Organization, as the "Original Gestalt". Nier's appearance here is no different from that of a normal human being.
D2-T1 1:18 ⨁
Grimoire Noir was programmed to show absolute obedience to Nier.
D2-T1 2:22 ⨁
As the word "overseers" (or “observers”) suggests, they are androids, just like Devola and Popola.
They are not afraid of Grimoire Noir because they themselves are equipped with magical weapons (as Devola and Popola are too).
D2-T1 3:09 ⨁
Aide. To be exact, an "Assistant to the Prime Minister". It is one of the Cabinet Secretariat's official positions stipulated in the Cabinet Law since 1996.
Since the Legion outbreak, it has become customary for the Minister Special Organisms Control to have this role.
D2-T1 5:27 ⨁
Since Yonah's heart has stopped beating [in cryogenic sleep], the sound of medical equipment that can be heard in this scene is not that of a heartbeat, but a scanning machine checking for errors.
D2-T1 5:28 ⨁
The woman here has been promoted to Director after the Research-1-Red-Eye runaway incident in D1-T09 "Emil/Weapons".
D2-T1 10:27 ⨁
Over the course of one thousand years, Nier's body began slowly being stained by dark marks. However, his strong desire to save his sister still allows his heart to retain his humanity.
D2-T2 0:01 ⨁
The battle takes place in the valley that connects Nier's village to the Northern Plains, three months after the Shadowlord's defeat and after all the memories of Nier have vanished.
D2-T2 1:58 ⨁
After having defeated the Shadowlord, Kainé accepts requests to kill Shades from villagers around the area in order to earn a living from their rewards. The reason behind her inhuman force is not the result of some magic, but it comes from the innate genetic modifications she wields.
D2-T2 2:07 ⨁
The man is the vice leader of a youth group of soldiers in Nier's village.
In this scene, Kainé is talking to him in a blunt manner when, in reality, she lusts for the beautiful man with darker skin.
D2-T2 8:34 ⨁
In this scene, Kainé is having sexual intercourse with the man.
D2-T2 9:13 ⨁
Kainé climaxes with a loud thump-ing sound.
D2-T3 0:01 ⨁
The world 280 years after the deaths of Nier and Kainé.
D2-T3 0:01 ⨁
Emil is spinning around the Northern Plains, but a severe climate change devastated the scenery.
Also, given the absence of overseers, the number of Replicants has decreased completely and there are no more humans inhabiting that region.
D2-T3 0:02 ⨁
Emil's body, which he modified and customized for many years, wields a strange and bizarre appearance that also includes mechanical limbs.
D2-T3 1:16 ⨁
Emil Dash is the fastest way of movement Emil has developed throughout his whole life.
However, since all of his energy is spent in moving so fast, it makes him vulnerable to attacks.
D2-T3 2:23 ⨁
The flying object here is an Adamski-type of UFO.
D2-T3 2:53 ⨁
By the way, the shape of the alien resembles a %?&#. That is why Emil is embarrassed and hides his face in his hands, but since his fingers and palms are all made of bones, he cannot help but still look at the alien's sexual shape.
D2-T3 5:53 ⨁
Emil Beam is the strongest attack Emil has developed throughout his whole life.
It is the result of many years spent studying magic, making it possible for him to shoot beams from his eyes.
D2-T3 6:13 ⨁
Emil's copies. It is the most split state Emil found himself in his whole life. It is the result of many years spent studying magic-- (THE FOLLOWING INFO ARE OMITTED).
