Next time, before you call 911, consider that 96% of calls to police in
New Haven do not involve violence. However, racial discrimination by police is a proven reality, officers often unnecessarily escalate the situation, and calling the police can become life-threatening for a black or brown person. There are many valuable resources in New Haven and Connecticut that you can try first (all toll-free).
Deaf/Hearing-impaired and Spanish speaking persons can call 7-1-1 for an assisted connection to any of these services:
